Could be. For all that I dislike the woman and believe that she's brought this mess on herself, the pressure that she is under is really intense and a lot of people would buckle under it.

I know I wouldn't cope... then again, that's one of the many reasons why I have never gone into politics. You have to be very robust. She might have just found the limits of what she can cope with.

If she is ill, then fair enough for not turning up...I wish her a speedy recovery once she has stood down from a post that is clearly beyond her abilities.

If she has fucked off to Ukraine at taxpayer's expense, taking a leaf straight out of Boris Johnson's playback, then I think there will quite rightly be public fury at such a cynical attempt to dodge accountability.

In all seriousness, I wouldn't be surprised if she is having a nervous breakdown. The amount of pressure that she is under would be enough to tip anyone over the edge, and if that's the case, I genuinely feel sorry for her. However, if that is what is happening, then she quite clearly needs to resign and focus on getting her health issues sorted out.

Hinting at Putin threat/ Ukraine issues no doubt.

So distasteful the way Johnson, Truss et al have absolutely no shame in using the war to deflect from their own incompetence.
