Constant posts about "over-entitled" children - why do parents not set boundaries.
Everyone seems to have "anxiety" - wanting to do your best in a job of at an interview is normal.
Climate change, yes, this is important, so look at how much the internet has an influence.
Cost of food, stop buying at supermarkets. Get to know your local providers. Definitely stop buying ready meals and cook your own.
Nobody owes you a living and the current government definitely will not bail you out. Stop relying on the 1997 to 2010 run of idiot "socialists" that knackered the country, sold off our gold reserves and created this total mess!
Get educated, if you are intelligent. Learn a skill or trade. Allegedly there are loads of opportunities.
A house is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. Where, in any economic theory, does it state that property values must rise?
Or just be a grumpy old lady, like me?

Uh huh, please tell us more.

you say you had nothing, just a simple windows pension. Pray tell it was enough to keep the private school fees up?

TrainspottingWelsh · 16/10/2022 22:25

@mumarewenearlythereyet I think we will. I’m an older millennial, and like the younger generation x we’re mainly aware that while we got screwed compared to the baby boomer/ older x, we still have it easier than the next generation. It’s really only the current older generation where the lack of awareness seems to be common enough to be an issue.

Bunce1 · 16/10/2022 22:26

*widows

Although a MSWindows pension would be mega!

This is brill !!

Next prick that tells me the poor just need to work harder, I'm sending this link...

Im going to keep posting that on mumsnet until every self satisfied tory voting arsehole stops voting these bastards in

Dontevenstart · 16/10/2022 22:11

…and the lesson here, kids - don’t read the Daily Mail! Bigoted old bag.

You sound delightful….🙄

Pretty accurate though

The thing it's boomers fault that we are in the this mess. Boomers were in charge of the last crash and decided to use QE to stop the economy imploding but they used QE for years and years. Now inflation is spiralling and they cannot use it anymore they kicked the can down the road.

userlotsanumbers · 16/10/2022 22:32

Something goes badly for the government, and again, they pop up here working the boards hard in the other direction....

LidlCinnamonBun · 16/10/2022 22:36

I am wondering if this is my MIL, she’s joined mumsnet and posted this?
I hope not as her tactless, ridiculous and insensitive rants are annoying enough in real life so I don’t need to read it on here too.

No we fucking don't it needs to reset and thats going to be painful for a while If they pump it more the economy will collapse.

HelloTreacle9 · 16/10/2022 22:43

Well I know Liz’s lobbyist chief of staff Mark Fullbrook isn’t officially sacked yet but it sounds like you’re a bit bored on gardening leave, Mark! Sorry, must get on, need to pop the ‘budget’ sausages from the artisan butcher in the fridge.

Quantitative tightening.

"Quantitative tightening, also known as balance sheet normalization, is a type of monetary policy followed by central banks. It is the exact opposite stance of quantitative easing, which is a type of monetary expansion followed after the 2008 Global Financial Crisis."

HazelBite · 16/10/2022 22:47

If you are as old as me OP you will know that this (the economic situation) too will pass.
I'm tired of it all and I have suffered from economic restraints in the 1970's ,80's and worst of all the early 90's, when DH with no work whatsoever did as many paper rounds as he could find just to feed his DC's!
I'm tired that after a lifetime of working hard I do not have sufficient funds to enjoy my retirement, but whatever!
I'm afraid we all end up "going with the flow" there is no point complaining or judging others.

PeloFondo · 16/10/2022 22:48

liveforsummer · 16/10/2022 22:05

I love that you think local suppliers are cheaper. I can't even afford wonky strawberries from Aldi and buy chicken that I hate to have to do from a supermarket budget range. No way I could spend the extra for local goods from the farmers market - that's more than the posh range at Tesco etc

That ^^
We do have a good local market yes, that has great offers. It's in the town centre so I would have to drive there and pay for parking
It's open weekdays. When I work...

The local greengrocer and butcher closed as nobody used it. Why? No parking. Can't shop somewhere if you can't walk there and nowhere to park. And again open 9-5...

HereComeTheGrannies · 16/10/2022 22:48

You sound like you couldn’t even tell your own arse from your elbow with your nonsensical ramblings, but it’s everyone else who’s an idiot? Ok dear, have a lie down and some water you’ll sober up soon.

SemperIdem · 16/10/2022 22:52

You’re not grumpy, you’re ignorant and smug.

How lucky you are to not have been impacted financially or psychologically by the pandemic.

How lucky you are to not be impacted by the ludicrous rise in the cost of buying or renting a home.

How absolutely deluded you are to think that buying locally is cheaper than buying in a supermarket.

Saz1968 · 16/10/2022 22:56

It's one thing to blame Labour, but to call Tony Blair a socialist is lazy and incorrect. Dominic Cummings, among many many others, has said Blair was the true successor to Thatcher.

There are a few things wrong with the UK but 43 years of unfettered free market capitalism has only achieved one thing - massive transfer of money from tax payers to wealthy free market capitalists. That is how both parties have piled on debt and continue to do so - Tories being the worst culprit only because they have been in power more often.

This country needs a lot more social policy, call it socialist if you want. The OBR will tell you that in hindsight, Corbyn's policies would have cost less than what May, Johnson and Truss have inflicted on us.

Local providers are cheaper?

Not in my world.

Exactly. I love buying from local providers when possible, but they‘re definitely not cheaper than supermarkets (Aldi, in our case).

Saz1968 · 16/10/2022 23:01

They had to let the rotten banks collapse. Too Big To Fail is the same as Unsustainable. Banks must go to the wall and their CEO's get fired, it's what keeps business honest in a free market. A bailed out market is not a free market.
