When he left, he seemed to imply he may...?

Weird thing but I found myself missing Maggie Thatcher the other day. Then I gave my head a wobble and remembered she was fucking awful. But still, there was a sense back then that politicians did genuinely believe they were acting in the nations best interests, alongside the standard feathering of their own nests, even when their policies were absolutely dire!
These days, they don't seem to even pretend to have national interest at heart - just a craven desire for money and power and will spout any old bullshit to achieve it!

Jackienory · 16/10/2022 09:33

Yep, he'll be back.

cosmiccosmos · 16/10/2022 09:33

Why would he! He's achieved his aim of being PM, he left under a cloud but this latest shit show seems to have made people forget that he was the cause of this mess. Why would anyone come in now - the Tories won't win the next election and things are a right mess. He thinks he can at least hang on to his vaccination programme.

ImissyouBR1 · 16/10/2022 09:37

Yeah, I miss Boris

I hope he comes back tbh. I don't even vote Tory but the current offerings are a shit show compared to Boris. And that says a lot. 🤢

Pharos · 16/10/2022 09:40

They’re like rats in a sack. I can’t see that any of the current crop of Tory front benchers have the nous to get us out of the mess we have been in since they drove us to Brexit, never mind the disastrous last few weeks.
They forced out the moderate, thoughtful ones such as Gauke and Grieve and instead are left with a rancid bunch of ideologues.
Johnson was a disaster for this country, Truss and whoever follows will be more of the same.
I can see a number of Tories now wanting to lose the next election- leave Labour or a coalition with a bankrupt country which will take decades to turn round and blame it all on them…

BloodyHellKen · 16/10/2022 09:46

I'm not keen on Johnson as a person but I definitely prefer Johnson politics to Truss. Johnson is more of a centrist whereas Truss is full on swivel eyed right wing loon which I really can't get on board with.

NashvilleQueen · 16/10/2022 09:48

If you mean does he possess the required level of supreme arrogance to put aside the repeated lies and unprecedented hubris of his previous term of office and push himself back into public life then the answer is most definitely yes.

L1ttledrummergirl · 16/10/2022 09:50

Not if the conservative party ever want to win an election again. They are already dead as a party, that would bury them.

colddayinhell · 16/10/2022 10:04

Why? He's lazy and useless and squandered an 80 seat majority. Just a vanity politician.

LexMitior · 16/10/2022 10:07

No.

PoundShopPrincess · 16/10/2022 09:11

If Boris comes back, the Tories can say goodbye to government for the next twenty years.

At least he was good at watering the pot plants.

Very amusing. I thought for a moment you were being serious, then I realised it was satire. Well played.

ilovesooty · 16/10/2022 15:29

No. I don't think he'll even contest his seat at the next election. He got the job, which he was never interested in doing properly, has done very well out of it, and left leaving others to clear up his mess ( as he seems to have done throughout his life). He's a stain on parliamentary history.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 16/10/2022 15:31

Is this truly a possibility? How? What would need to happen?

BustyDisplay · 16/10/2022 15:33

No. He lowered the bar enough for Truss to get through.

OneTC · 16/10/2022 15:35

I really hope so.

Then they couldn't be any more dead in the water

caringcarer · 16/10/2022 17:17

He apparently now earns more for a half hour speech than for being PM a whole year's salary. Plus in a recent pole in US he was more popular than Biden. They love him in the Ukraine too. I would love him to come back as PM as he won legitimate mandate of 79 seats majority. I don't agree that a gaggle of Westminster MP's should be able to topple him when he was still popular with Tory members. More popular than Truss and Sunak combined.

VladmirsPoutine · 16/10/2022 17:23

Last I heard he's raking it in doing after dinner speeches to a load of US banker types IIRC? Why would he come back? He already managed to leverage the platform he had.

Do you agree with him supporting corrupt businessmen and sex offenders? Because that's what you're saying is okay if you think he should be allowed back.

Mellowday · 20/10/2022 16:08

.... whats the current thought on this then ???

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 20/10/2022 16:10

Hasta la vista

L1ttledrummergirl · 20/10/2022 16:12

He can fuck off back under his rock.

Abraxan · 20/10/2022 16:14

Is that the best they've got? Bringing back one they've already got rid of due to his incompetence and errors the first time?

Surely having him back would be admitting they're completely out of options and they have no one better than an already failed PM.

Croque · 20/10/2022 16:17

He will be back forever if Nadine Dorries has anything to do with it 😘

2bazookas · 20/10/2022 16:20

No I don't. Even the Conservative Party can't commit suicide twice.
