I actually think that was JR Moggs plan all along

get boris out of the way for a while for the heat to die down, get some incompetent in who would shorten the ££, make lots of money from that and then watch her fail, resign

whisk in Boris as a better option and pick up the puppet strings where he left of

But why did the Tory party elect a anti-monarchist Lib Dem remainer to be their leader in the first place?
Because she repeated the slogans they have been trained to respond to.

Sir Keir Starmer once boasted of supporting the ‘abolition of the monarchy’ – as Labour tries to become patriotism party.

I love it that his supporters actually believe he winds up the left wing. If it weren't for the damage he's liable to do if ever allowed anywhere near power, they love the fact that he would single-handedly tear the Conservative party apart and destroy it.

Exactly.

If the Tories were stupid enough to bring Boris back now, it would guarantee yet more infighting, chaos and general shitshow-ness. It would quite likely destroy the Conservative party. They'd end up with like 3 seats at the next GE. The only reason those of us on the left don't want that turn of events is because sadly it would also take the country down with it.

If they elect Boris, then it is only going to be a question of time before he has to resign again for the same reasons, can't see Boris as PM going into the next GE, unless he calls it very soon.

It will be the end of the Conservative Party if Boris Johnson is reinstalled as PM.

It only hastens a Labour government with the SNP as the official opposition.

Perhaps it's for the best. The Tories don't "conserve" anything any more, let alone the Union.

To be fair, it's the end of they put Sunak in too.

Their Brexit is so damaging they can never implement it fully, and they can't give it up because their power base is the 20% of the country that is bad enough and uninformed enough to still want it.

The Tories are doomed either way.

We really need a general election. We have had four chancellors since July and two prime ministers, and the PMs left on 'counts' of multiple deceit and/or total incompetence.

Yes, a GE might send the markets spinning for a short time, but it would eventually improve the credibility of the UK as a more stable economy and move away from in-fighting and ill-informed politics that has shaped the party since the days of Cameron.

Furthermore, this country, like many others, is facing some extremely difficult times. There is real poverty, a total breakdown of the welfare state, serious issues with the economy, and a huge potential for major civil unrest. In my opinion, we need a total change of government, and a sensible (if not charismatic) first minister.

He's going to come back and wind up the lefties no end.

Seriously he is probably the only chance the Tories have. People like Hunt will lose the northern wall in an instant. Mordaunt doesn't know what a woman is.

People don't need to buy it. I agree no 10 being used as as an air BnB isn't a great look.
Usa is in financial meltdown, with a president older than an Egyptian mummy bumbling on.
Europe has higher inflation than we do.

Governments across the world are reeling post covid.

The dollar is unusually strong under that President you object to so much.

A number of Tory MPs are maneuvering to "support" him but I suspect this is a pretence so they can keep the swivel eyed loons on side when he is (rightly) rejected. Never forget he was finally ousted for promoting and minimising a sex offender (on top of all the other outrages).
This country is better than him.

@j712adrian 😅The Ayatollah of blue passports - I'd have applied for my green one had I seriously thought we'd be leaving the EU

Amber Rudd described Boris as the life and soul of the party but you wouldn't want him driving you home. He drove onto Lemon Quay in Truro in a red bus promising to fund the NHS with the money saved from leaving the EU but imposed a levy to fund it. Getting Brexit done - well there'd been no discussions with the EU on trade agreements, travel etc before the Referendum so everything discussed was speculative. What's positive?

The best JRM can come up with relates to imperial measures etc.

Janiie hasn't returned yet, perhaps busy with other matters?
