When he left, he seemed to imply he may...?

dizzy lizzy makes Bozo look like an emperor. Seriously what a bunch of incompetents.

BMW6 · 16/10/2022 00:01

Yes, I've said this since he was ousted. I'm sure of it.
It would be a hell of a gamble. He'd either swing it or trash them utterly - but they're fucked as it is so why not?

EmmaH2022 · 16/10/2022 00:02

I said that on here as soon as he left

I also remain puzzled that he survived the vote of no confidence and was ousted so quickly after.

hellesbells · 16/10/2022 00:18

I find it amazing that people (not here just in general) seem to forget/ignore/dont care that Johnson was removed not because of partygate but because he tried to cover up a sexual assault by one of his MP's, talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel

Not a Tory voter and never thought I'd write this but I miss him (wtf). Truss is a robot and I actually fear for the future with her and hunt at the wheel. Everything just seems like an even bigger shit show and I didn't think that was possible.

In a weird way, I agree with you. Things are immeasurably worse now than they were in July and a lot of people seem to want him back.

asblindasabat · 16/10/2022 00:51

Does anyone think we will have a new Prime Minister by the end of 2022?

I do.

Because no sooner was the vote of no confidence over then yet another scandal emerged (think it was Chris Pincher) and it was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Suemademedoit · 16/10/2022 00:58

No, the party won’t allow it. They’ll have zero credibility left if they did. Frankly, they have almost zero credibility left as it is, what with four chancellors in as many months. But they’ve had Cameron, followed by appointed May, followed by appointed Boris, followed by appointed Truss (could replace appointed with anointed, same difference). It’s a miracle they’re still in govt. Truss has an approval rating with the public of 16% (that was before she sacked Kwasi, it’s lower today, around 9% I think). Literally no PM ever, since the history of polls, has had such a low rating. If the best the Tories can do to rid themselves of this albatross is Boris, they’re shot for years and years and years.

BaronessEllarawrosaurus · 16/10/2022 01:00

I was accused of being a Boris lover because I didn't actually want him to quit. I don't like Boris but the rest of the options terrified me. Truss needs to go but God help us as to what comes after. Boris I suspect is the only one ignorant and arrogant enough to call a general election to prove the country still backs him, I think it's out best hope now.

Yes...it just didn't seem like a bunch of people would resign over that and I still think something else was at play.

I also think they might try to get a puppet master for Liz Truss now, so they don't have to deal with the PR disaster of the person who - whom?- they voted in being ousted before the salad goes off.

Yes, I had to phrase it very carefully, saying I was worried what we'd get instead.

PurplRainDancer · 16/10/2022 01:07

Hopefully as soon as possible

twicebittenthriceshy · 16/10/2022 01:17

Sorry but I think you're nuts!

HRTQueen · 16/10/2022 02:50

yes he will be back his ego is so big he couldn’t not return in some capacity he won’t be happy staying as a quiet back bencher

He must be laughing at the moment he has walked straight into the very lucrative after dinner speech business and someone else is picking up the pieces from much of the problems he created (which has been a theme throughout his career and it appears his personal life)

anonbelle · 16/10/2022 03:27

Bloody hope not!

Cameleongirl · 16/10/2022 03:29

What about Rishi?

HRTQueen · 16/10/2022 03:44

Yes I think it’s a high possibility

I think Jeremy Hunt has his eye on the prize

sjxoxo · 16/10/2022 03:45

in a word, no

FeralWitch · 16/10/2022 03:52

Where are the decent people? Has politics become so toxic that it now only attracts greedy sociopaths?

I know politicians have always been untrustworthy fuckers, but this lot are next level. It’s like watching vampires turning on each other, which in a ‘fetch the popcorn’ way is quite entertaining, until you remember that this is actually happening, and this is our actual country, and the decisions these people make are actually killing people.

There must be good people out there who are interested in creating a stable, successful and compassionate country, and not just bleeding a struggling one white?

Somewhere? Surely?

Cameleongirl · 16/10/2022 03:59

@FeralWitch Unfortunately, politics is such a toxic business that decent people don't want to get involved, imo. Only the power-hungry do and they're not interested in the good of the country.

Nat6999 · 16/10/2022 04:00

Why would he when he can make more money doing speeches?

Yep! They're all bad to worse. People, power, positions or whatever party I don't think any future government will be any better. I envy people who believe a vote and labor for example will get in power and solve all our problems, I just have no faith in any of them

HappyHappyHermit · 16/10/2022 04:10

The last thing we need right now. Boris Johnson is a liar and did nothing good for this country, why would that change now? The very idea is a sign of how desperate yet still out of touch the Tories are.

mellongoose · 16/10/2022 04:17

The problem with Rishi is twofold.

He oversaw the Treasury and was happy to see the Bank of England print and print and print money which is what has led to the recent inevitable tightening.

People see him as a treacherous snake who is a millionaire, without a shred of understanding of what it feels like to be on the breadline.
