Newspaper reports as scathing as ever, and The Times suggesting Tories are lining up Sunak and Mordaunt as a duo.

can’t stand the woman but surely she’ll hold on for a bit longer - everyone was saying Boris would go much earlier than he did. And why on earth did they vote her into power in the first place 🙄

Tories still think they can win the next general election?
Goodness I didn't think they were that deluded.

..... a week is a long time in politics, 2 years is a life time.

Anyone who thinks the Tories are dead is foolish.

Anyone who thinks the Tories are dead is foolish.

Anyone who thinks the Tories aren't going to be toast at the next General Election clearly hasn't been in the UK for the last 6 months.

Blossomtoes · 16/10/2022 17:52

Quite. There’s no way a GE is two years away either. They’ll just keep fucking up, they can’t help themselves.

Anyone who thinks Liz can last 2 years is the child of a foolish man bred with a foolish woman.

Alexandra2001 · 16/10/2022 17:56

Nope, the Tories don't have to call a GE and they won't either, they have a huge majority and Con MPs wont vote for one... i mean who votes to lose their well paid job????

Nothing is predictable in politics, nothing at all & two years is a long time away.

Ha ha.... care to quote back where i said Truss will last 2 years? idiot.

mrshoho · 16/10/2022 17:59

Or as one trader said "Countries were keeping their heads down, as they didn't want to be the next Greece, then along comes Kwarteng"

It is baffling how he and Truss had the power or authority or whatever you'd call it to make these catastrophic sweeping decisions. I used to think before these ministers spoke that it had all been checked and accounted. Worrying.

Their majority isn’t that huge. It will take just 35 Tory MPs to vote against the government and it’s lost the vote. There could easily be 35 who intend to stand down at the next election who would happily vote for an early one. Equally there are Tory MPs openly saying they’ve run out of steam and need a period in opposition.

It was this sentence.

Lonelycrab · 16/10/2022 18:23

Quite surprised the Sunday times are saying she has to go, Sunak to replace and then a GE😮
Its quite something when they are saying that already. Surely must carry some weight. They’re going to throw the towel in aren’t they?

Anyone who thinks the Tories are dead is foolish.

Anyone who thinks this can be turned around in two years doesn't realise how much damage has been done. The next two years are going to be very difficult.

If Tory lies haven't impacted you yet, it's coming to bite hard over the next two years.

WatchoRulo · 16/10/2022 18:37

Turns out this wasn't an error

Will Liz Truss really last only 17 more days?
Grammarnut · 16/10/2022 18:37

Truss is nothing like Corbyn who had sensible policies on re-nationalising utilities, which the majority of the electorate agreed with. Had Labour supported Brexit they would have won the election and we would have got a much better Brexit - a socialist one, too. Truss subscribes to the idea that the rich should not be taxed because if they are they will not invest. Low taxes on the rich then leads to wealth trickling down. This theory is known very well not to work but simply impoverishes the poor and widens the gap between not only rich and poor, but between the middle classes and the rich. Truss is following an ideology which has been long discredited and seems to be linked to Kwarteng's PhD thesis (which he won't publish, which says it all). Even the IMF thinks it won't work and they are neo-liberal to the core.

Blossomtoes · 16/10/2022 18:41

They’re going to throw the towel in aren’t they?

Not according to Matt Hancock just now. He reckons Liz should stay in the job and they’ll win the next election. 😂

the80sweregreat · 16/10/2022 18:45

Good old Matt , even Andrew Neil couldn't be bothered with him !

Goodness I didn't think they were that deluded.

I said they still have their sights on winning the next election of course they do (not often I agree with John McDonnell but I agree with what he has said over the weekend)

this is what has partly made them such a successful party being in opposition isn’t an option that is considered. They do not operate in the same way as Labour do

Being in power is where they feel they belong.

the80sweregreat · 16/10/2022 18:54

The conservatives are far more forwards thinking , i do agree with this
They are also good at elections.
Never write them off.

Thatsasmashingblouseyouvegoton · 16/10/2022 12:21

Make no mistake - the ERG and 1922 committee (who ARE the tory party now) have paid VERY close attention to what the GOP and Trump have done in the US.

This.

Catlady2021 · 16/10/2022 18:57

Crisp in Blunt now calling for her resignation..

Catlady2021 · 16/10/2022 18:58

Crispin in Blunt sorry

Catlady2021 · 16/10/2022 18:59

Bloody predictable text! Crispin Blunt calling for Truss to go !

He should stick to fucking the hired help he seems to be good at that.

mrshoho · 16/10/2022 19:32

Ben Wallace is being spoken of to replace her. Would that be as a caretaker? That meme doing the rounds earlier 'Only 2 more prime ministers til Christmas' may end up being close to reality!

vera99 · 16/10/2022 19:42

The caretaker is Hunt. Wallace seems to be having a change of mind - though as ex-army they tend to have a pretty narrow focus of vision but he was a remainer so he didn't get that wrong and importantly sadly for the Tory party he is white so he might not upset the racist base. Apparently, he has a penchant for exaggerating his military career!

the80sweregreat · 16/10/2022 19:43

I wasn't keen on Ben Wallace, but it'll be interesting to see what the electorate make of another PM. Enough is enough now surely ?
They naval gazed for 12 long hot weeks to find a replacement and it's already going pear shaped. It's just shit , yet people still defend them or it's 'mid term blues'
Complete rubbish
