Newspaper reports as scathing as ever, and The Times suggesting Tories are lining up Sunak and Mordaunt as a duo.

can’t stand the woman but surely she’ll hold on for a bit longer - everyone was saying Boris would go much earlier than he did. And why on earth did they vote her into power in the first place 🙄

Someone's just carried a cardboard box into number 10. Ready for packing maybe?

Boris is hiding in it, ready for his comeback

Cuck00soup · 14/10/2022 13:14

Nadine Dorries?

thankyouforthesun · 14/10/2022 13:15

My dad's a Tory member and he was disappointed with both candidates, I think a lot of members would have preferred one of the others, probably Morduant.
He would find some of the other senior tories very palatable as PM and tbh I am scared they are just biding their time. Michael Gove, Priti Patel, Dominic Raab...

the80sweregreat · 14/10/2022 13:15

They will smuggle Boris Johnson in a big old cake.

the80sweregreat · 14/10/2022 13:16

They are all pretty reprehensible really.
I'd wager money that KK is already plotting his revenge.

It was the members who voted her into power. They were never going to vote for Sunak who was seen as disloyal to Boris, and the Daily Mail ran a poisonous campaign against Penny Mordaunt to make sure she didn't get on the ballot (possibly aided by Sunak lending Truss some votes as he thought she would be easier to beat than Mordaunt). Truss was always going to have problems with so few MPs supporting her as their first choice, but she then made it worse by appointing a cabinet of loyalists with no attempt to reach out to other parts of the party.

On the evidence of Tory members voting for Truss and Labour members voting for Corbyn, I wonder if it would be better if we went back to MPs electing party leaders rather than the party membership.

Liz Truss making a statement at approximately 1.45pm

MrsSkylerWhite · 14/10/2022 13:21

She has to go, today. Not only incompetent but no loyalty whatsoever. She’s in full step with her closest political ally: until she sees the opportunity to scapegoat him. These truly awful people have to go, all of them.

The nation deserves nothing less than a GE.

Must be a big old box then.

ClaudineClare · 14/10/2022 13:23

I think there will be a general election in the next few weeks or months. Truss is already a lame duck.

MeowMeowPowerRangers · 14/10/2022 13:25

If we don't go to GE then I hope the job is given to Teresa may.

She was the right prime minister just at the wrong bloody time.

Or a fridge

I'd probably just emigrate today.

I don’t think she should come back. She’ll have a big old economic mess to sort out, which will be impossible. And she’ll carry on with the horrible and extreme policies on migrants and asylum seekers, which I just can’t take anymore.

TheHouseonHauntedHill · 14/10/2022 13:27

A cardboard box 🤣🤣

lovemyflipflops · 14/10/2022 13:27

Totally out of her depth - but who can take her place - I'd bring back Boris and Richie

The trouble is 'the wrong time' for her meant surendering completely to the death cult of her party, which set the precedent for the next 6 years and counting. At some point you have to acknowledge that as just a massive failure of character.

I love all the 'Liz Truss is actually an anarchist who infiltrated the Tory party in order to bring it down' theories.

I feel like this is how I slip into gibbering QAnon territory.“

nah, she’s obviously a LibDem sleeper …….

the80sweregreat · 14/10/2022 13:28

If they get shot of LT , we might end up with Braverman or someone even worse
Be careful what you wish for , as they say

TallulahBetty · 14/10/2022 13:28

I can't see it's been posted yet, unless I missed it... this has me howling

keep taking the meds 😉

Haffiana · 14/10/2022 13:30

These were Liz Truss's policies and Liz Truss chose a Chancellor to carry out those policies which her Chancellor did, in full and in total cooperation with her wishes. Kwarteng has made that perfectly clear with his very pointed resignation letter.

Sacking him makes her look pathetic and desperate. She will be asked to resign by her own party within the next 7 days - the way things are going, it may well be in the next 7 hours.

vera99 · 14/10/2022 13:31

Brilliant lettuce gag - lest we forget

Will Liz Truss really last only 17 more days?
the80sweregreat · 14/10/2022 13:32

Watching sky news now with Beth Rigby.
The narrative seems to be moving to ' how long can she last ? '
Seems to be things afoot
