To think they've made a mess of my DD's hair? Pics included

DD (3.5) had lovely long dark hair which almost reached her bum, she loved it long as she said it made her feel pretty. She loves me styling it in different ways, fish tail plaits etc.

Her fringe was getting too long and the ends needed a trim so OH took her to the hairdressers this afternoon. I told him to make sure they don't take off any more than 2 inches.

This is what she came home like, see pictures attached.

DD is upset and is adamant she hates it dispite me trying to reassure her that she looks beautiful and that her hair will grow back longer and stronger.

I'm really upset about this, largely because DD is upset but ffs just look at it. It isn't even straight.

The workmanship of that haircut is awful and I'd not take them back there.

However the length is more sensible - I do wonder if parents consider the safety of children having 'bum length' hair. At a school I worked at, a girl sat down heavily on her hair and ripped a big chunk out - was quite disturbing to see the pain she endured and her clutching a fistful of hair 😢

Bum length hair looks ridiculous and is impractical. Looks much healthier and not at all straggly now. Once you get it leveled up it will look great. She is a child not a Disney princess.

HollyJollypup · 14/10/2022 09:11

Who would of knew so many people hated kids having long hair 😂

SergeiL · 14/10/2022 09:12

My kids don’t lack resilience at all. I have brought them up to be resilient. And I see nothing wrong with complimenting a child who has a talent that they work hard to nurture. I don’t routinely go around complimenting small children on their looks cos that just seems a bit weird.

In girls... they'd be eating that s%£t up if it was a boy 😏

How's everything gone today OP? Have you managed to get a refund and fix you DD's cut?

Yes the whole anti gender stereotype campaign has been pushed so far that it is now offensive if a little girl wants to look in anyway feminine or what people deem ‘stereotypically feminine’ ie long hair, dresses, sparkly shoes etc. 🙄

LunchBoxPolice · 14/10/2022 17:05

That’s a terrible cut. I’m so jealous of her hair though, it’s beautiful.

PixieLaLa · 14/10/2022 18:33

Thank you all for your kind comments about DD's hair (dodgy cut aside) I've shared some with her and it did make her smile

I think this comment is quite telling….

diddl · 14/10/2022 21:06

Is it all straightened out now?

Cheeseandcrackers86 · 15/10/2022 10:50

FFS Sun article and absent OP... journalism clickbait as usual....

People really need to get a grip saying the 3YO 'shouldn't care' 3 is more than old enough to be self-aware. Yes it shouldn't be the main focus of her life but tbh I think most 3YOs have an opinion about their appearance. I am not image conscious with my 4YO but I still remember when she was only just 2 not doing her hair how she liked. She sulked on her way to nursery with me and was still giving me evils when i came to pick her up that evening 🤣 It's perfectly developmentally normal so I don't know why people are treating mum like she just entered her daughter in the next 'little miss bikini' contest...

I don’t think a child here or there doing something makes it “developmentally normal”. Nature vs nurture. More likely nurture…
The majority of people find it odd that a 3 year old would care so much though.

MylittleDD · 15/10/2022 16:54

Oh Jesus. It must have been a slow news day. I can't think why anybody outside of this thread would be interested in a three year olds hair.

So I went in and got a full refund. I haven't taken her to another hair dressers to fix it (don't think I dare after that) my DM evened it out for her at home and its 10 x better than it was.

DD has gotten over her disappointment and hasn't mentioned it again which is great. I'm sure it'll grow back quickly at which point I'll do my homework before sending her to any random hairdressers 😬

I just realised somebody thought I was a journalist and this was clickbait, nope. That very much is my DD. I have the pictures on my own social media too. Those who know us are quite amused that little old DD is in the news 😂

It’s hardly the most clickbaity topic, is it?
