To think they've made a mess of my DD's hair? Pics included

DD (3.5) had lovely long dark hair which almost reached her bum, she loved it long as she said it made her feel pretty. She loves me styling it in different ways, fish tail plaits etc.

Her fringe was getting too long and the ends needed a trim so OH took her to the hairdressers this afternoon. I told him to make sure they don't take off any more than 2 inches.

This is what she came home like, see pictures attached.

DD is upset and is adamant she hates it dispite me trying to reassure her that she looks beautiful and that her hair will grow back longer and stronger.

I'm really upset about this, largely because DD is upset but ffs just look at it. It isn't even straight.

OP posts:
BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 13/10/2022 18:12

Bloody hell, did they tie it into a ponytail and then cut it? I'd be pissed off too OP!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 13/10/2022 18:14

I would be livid. If it was to her bum they have taken loads.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/10/2022 18:14

Go back and get a refund, do not let them anywhere near her again and go and get it fixed elsewhere. That's shocking!

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 13/10/2022 18:17

Bloody hell! Yanbu!

WholeLotOfWoofing · 13/10/2022 18:18

Once it’s cut so it’s the same on both sides, it’ll look nice. But that’s way more than 2 inches and the fact is not straight is dreadful.

I would just do it myself, to even if up. You shouldn’t have to but it’ll be easy and I wouldn’t risk them going near her hair again in case they bodge it and she’ll end up with a bob, I’d go and ask for a refund though!

Has her fringe been done ok? Don’t make a big thing of it in front of your daughter.

QuestionableMouse · 13/10/2022 18:20

I've cut my own hair, behind my head, and it's been straighter than that!

Whiskeypowers · 13/10/2022 18:23

good god

I don’t think they even sectioned her hair looks like they went across it with a chainsaw or my four year old’s craft scissors

not sure I would do anything other than demand a refund as clearly at least one of their employees is incompetent

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 13/10/2022 18:25

YANBU to think that's a bad haircut

FistFullOfRegrets · 13/10/2022 18:25

MylittleDD · 13/10/2022 18:06

It looks like they've done it with safety scissors. I've arranged for her to go back tomorrow morning and have it rectified but I'm not sure I even want them to touch it after the mess they've already made of it. I'm considering asking for a refund and then taking her elsewhere.

oh poor mite!

have you any 'before' photos?

it looks like she's had her head tilted, but a hairdresser should notice that!

I would only let the most senior hairdresser near her and if it's a one man place I'd be asking for a refund & going elsewhere.

As for how much they took off, that could be down to her Dad, I wouldn't let anyone take her, but me! Controlling much-yes! But it avoids situations like this 💁🏻‍♀️

id get it sorted out & buy her some new hair things to cheer her up!

Moonlightdust · 13/10/2022 18:26

Oh OP I’d be sad too. My DD’s hair is so long she can almost sit on it and I would be shocked if I was only expecting 2 inches off it! If she was hoping for a shorter style then it would be acceptable if only it was properly cut straight and not by an amateur! Definitely ask for refund!

namechange3394 · 13/10/2022 18:27

Are you totally sure he actually took her and didn't just cut it himself? It's that bad that I wouldn't be surprised.I assume at 3 she'd have told you though!

FatPatsCat · 13/10/2022 18:27

How did OH look at the end and say 'yep, great that, cheers'?

Ahnobother · 13/10/2022 18:28

Awfully wonky job.
Your DD has lovely thick hair.
My middle child always emerged with slightly wonky hair because she wouldn't sit still but it was around the length I asked for and it wasn't as visibly wonky as that. But the hairdressers always said it to me when they were cutting and did their very best with her as she swivelled all round the place.

LizzieSiddal · 13/10/2022 18:29

Where did your dh take her, I can believe a trained hairdresser would do a cut like that!

LizzieSiddal · 13/10/2022 18:30

Also they seem to have cut off about 8 inches?? 😱

Winterscomingagain · 13/10/2022 18:33

She has lovely thick hair but it certainly hasn't been well cut. At least it hasn't been layered, my DH took my youngest girl for a trim and she came back with a shoulder length layered style with layers so short it couldn't even be tied up.
I'd complain after checking what your DH asked for but I'd definitely go to another hairdresser. You'll need to play it down for her sake but I'd also be upset at that haircut.

Aprilx · 13/10/2022 18:33

Well I think I personally prefer this kind of length to bum length, but yes very wonky. I would certainly have thought it was a home cut.

NippyWoowoo · 13/10/2022 18:34

MylittleDD · 13/10/2022 18:03

What a nasty response.

You need to chill. The hair can be fixed and it will grow back.

I laughed when I first saw it too, it’s ridiculous. But I wasn’t laughing AT her, I was laughing at the joke of the hairdresser that thought this was a good job.

PurplRainDancer · 13/10/2022 18:34

MylittleDD · 13/10/2022 18:03

What a nasty response.

Oh behave it’s not ‘nasty’ 🙄but it is a terrible haircut

TheSausageKingofChicago · 13/10/2022 18:35

I’m generally of the ‘it’ll grow back’ persuasion but I’d be upset at that too. The length would be fine if it was even - but it’s not. And it’s way shorter than you asked for.

LucyAutumn · 13/10/2022 18:37

Yeah I agree with the refund and elsewhere idea, they clearly have no skill. Hope your DD is OK, hair grows but it's hard to adjust to a big change when you're little

ShepherdMoons · 13/10/2022 18:38

I'm no hairdresser but I cut my dd's hair straighter than that. Definitely get your money back and go somewhere else.

That is awful OP, I hope your DD isn’t too upset. She has the most gorgeous hair and it will grow back but my god it’s so uneven. Who the hell let’s a customer walk out with such a bad haircut!!

did you DH say anything to them at the time? I would be demanding a refund and going to a different salon to have it straightened up.

GG1986 · 13/10/2022 18:38

Wow was the hairdresser pissed? Yes absolutely go back and speak to the manager and get them to sort it out.
