Prof Matthew Goodwin, the pollster and academic who undertook the research, said the new findings were a “lose-lose” for Ms Truss.
“These numbers mean that Liz Truss is more unpopular than Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn ever were – she is basically in what I would call Prince Andrew territory,” he said.😂

Please think carefully at the next general election… 12 years of Tory government and almost all people - apart from a few - are poorer, the public sector is in dire dire straits, strikes, inflation, sinking pound… It was absolutely predictable surely? Maybe not the speed of the shit storm the last few weeks, but the overall picture we have from 12 years of Tory policy was very much foreseeable imo.
Please vote wisely 🙏

Truss and Kwarteng's economic plan is crap anyway (even US President Biden said he's sick to death of trickle down economics) but what makes it worse is the timing. If we'd have had 12 years of a Labour government and the Tories had just got in then right wing economics and tax cuts etc are going to play better, as they did for Thatcher in the 80s.

After 12 years of Tory rule and austerity and the shock of the pandemic, and now the energy and cost of living crisis, it's just completely insane to bring in these policies now. Hence the market reaction.

Who Blew Up Britain’s Pension Funds?
A crisis probably was inevitable after a decade of too-low interest rates.
By The Editorial Board

What isn’t responsible for this panic, by the way, is tax policy. Conventional wisdom now blames Prime Minister Liz Truss’s tax-cutting plan, announced on Sept. 23, for the pension blowup. That announcement may have lit a match near the pension bomb’s fuse if it momentarily spooked investors, but plenty of other sparks were in the air. A pension crisis was all but inevitable as interest-rate increases created new stresses for hedging strategies.

Blame the Bank of England. The global monetary-policy conceit since 2008 has been that central banks could push interest rates to unprecedented lows and then manage financial fragility via tighter regulation. That’s been no protection at all as Britain’s highly regulated pension funds struggled to cope with the costs created by the sudden reversal of ultralow rates to fight inflation.

This is a warning as central banks elsewhere belatedly tighten policy...

Yabu to think the the government give a shiny shite about people's pensions.

All they are bothered about is themselves and their elitist mates.

I cant believe not everybody realises this.

(even US President Biden said he's sick to death of trickle down economics)

I can see why!

Falling stock markets have wiped out more than $9 trillion in wealth from U.S. households, putting more pressure on family balance sheets and spending.

The wealthy are bearing the largest losses, since they own an outsize share of stocks. The top 10% of Americans have lost over $8 trillion in stock market wealth this year, which marks a 22% decline in their stock wealth, according to the Federal Reserve. The top 1% has lost over $5 trillion in stock market wealth. The bottom 50% have lost about $70 billion in stock wealth.

Its the general public thats fucked up big time, by voting Conservative for the first time, like it will help them. Thick as fuck doesn't even come near it. I seen a man about 60ish on the news being interviewed saying he voted for boris, then laughed and said i know he's an idiot but i just voted for him...

That's the voting public for you.

I just want independence. Desperately.

The one ray of sunshine in all this is that every crisis the UK government lurch into, every terrible decision they make, every car crash speech and policy delivered, brings more and more people to the yes camp.

Only the most ardent rangers fan or unionist could possibly argue that being trapped on this rudderless, flaming ship, with the Tories at the helm, helpless drifting towards edge of the world is better than launching a lifeboat and striking out for land alone.

nobody voted for this

Oh of course it was the eminently sensible Boris Johnson who was given the 80 seat majority mandate by the Great British Public (although that's not how parliamentary democracy works).

People in this country have insisted on shooting themselves in the foot (unless they're rich) and voted Tory for the last 12 years. And here we are.

We get the politicians we deserve, Boris and Truss included.

I don't think it's the Government job to light matches near the pensions bomb. Nor to exacerbate mortgage rates.
Is that what the public voted for?

I'm an observer not a follower - Joe Rogan and Brand are basically right-wingers in sheep's clothing with a massive following. My very intelligent brother has fallen for both of them - I jokingly call him a fascist now. You can add in Jordan Peterson, Sam Harris and many others. It is a populist ecosystem that is "brown/red" and unites some on both the far right and left. Whataboutery is a big part of their deflecting arrive.
