Was recently blocked twice for a promotion as someone was going on maternity leave and they said it would mean them having to recruit someone in my place which would have been too costly. Found this fairly unethical due to the fact that I was a perfect fit for the promotion and I'm getting into debt due to cost of living m. Have been bullied at work and was told to pull my socks up when dealing with poor mental health due to DV. After multiple attempts for promotion, I decided I would leave, and have been offered an amazing job, twice the income, and current manager is now telling me how disappointed she is in me. Two weeks to go and I couldn't give a fig. Onwards and upwards! Anyone want to celebrate with me? Had a horrific week and am feeling very positive :) AIBU to be absolutely loving this?!

Sounds like a conversation I had with someone just today. I say sod 'em. Funny how employers only suddenly see your worth and value when you're halfway out the door. If they'd have made that known, be it financially or respectfully, during your time there then perhaps you wouldn't have cause to find another job. Congratulations!!

Enjoy your last two weeks - it would be a shame to have a positive COVID test now (remember lemon juice gives a positive result 😂)
Good luck in your new role 🥳

Mummyoflittledragon · 11/10/2022 22:00

Congratulations! I understand skips make excellent filing cabinets…

J0y · 11/10/2022 22:02

She's disappointed in you?!

Wow.

HandShoe · 11/10/2022 22:10

Congratulations! Enjoy your countdown to better things.

ozymandiusking · 11/10/2022 22:12

That's great news, well done you.

BashfulClam · 11/10/2022 22:14

After being bullied, gaslighted and managed out of a role I was damn good at I forgot to take my tuna sandwich with me when I left. It was under my dickhead managers desk drawer unit last time I saw it 🤷🏻‍♀️

My personal notes that I had amassed were reduced to bare bones with important pointers missing. My e-mails were ‘tidy’ and I changed the formulas in the reports (shouldn’t be too hard for that muppet to have worked out how to fix them).

Lalliella · 11/10/2022 22:15

Fantastic news OP, congratulations! Don’t forget to pettily nick some stationery before you go 😂

GGGD · 11/10/2022 22:15

Made up for you! Continue to laugh and smile quizzically at her. 🍸🍾🍸

ozymandiusking · 11/10/2022 22:15

Please will someone tell me what an exit interview entails?

Wineat5isfine · 11/10/2022 22:17

This is amazing!! Huge congratulations to you!!

Bestcatmum · 11/10/2022 22:21

I'd sue them as well. Sounds like you have grounds.

Beach11 · 11/10/2022 22:30

Please will someone tell me what an exit interview entails?

An exit interview is an opportunity for the employee to feed back to the employer about their experience at the company. Its also a chance for the employer to do the same. Many companies dont bother offering these as they see the person is leaving and there is little point in spending the time (good companies see it as time well spent to get pointers as to what they did right and wrong and how they are seen as an employer). Ive always asked for exit interviews for myself and as a senior manager, always offered exit interviews. It can be very sweet to be able to tell the manager from head office that far from it being your own manager who is the reason for you leaving, instead its the continual, petty nitpicking from head office management that has caused the loss of yet another employee.

Well done op 👏. This is brilliant to hear. I was at my last job over 12 years and I think they thought I was there for life, even though they were horrible to work for, so when I handed in my notice there were a few shocked faces around the place. Best move I ever made.

HikingforScenery · 11/10/2022 22:43

🎉🥳 congratulations! You showed them! Whoop whoop!

Sunshinegurl · 11/10/2022 22:45

Congratulations! Their loss!

yoshiblue · 11/10/2022 22:45

Fantastic! Congrats and enjoy every last minute of watching them be disappointed! 🤣

VinoDino · 11/10/2022 22:46

For the next two weeks skip about that office being the happiest person in happy land!

SaltedCaramelIcedLatte · 11/10/2022 22:52

Congratulations on your new job Flowers

Caroline222 · 11/10/2022 22:54

Huge congratulations! You deserve this new opportunity. Your employer has not valued you enough at all and you've been treated badly on more than one occasion by the sounds of it, so it's absolutely the right time to move on to bigger and better... Well done Smile

keeprunning55 · 11/10/2022 23:00

This gives me hope! Well done, OP!

BitOutOfPractice · 11/10/2022 23:04

Congratulations op! That’s great news!

Honeyroar · 11/10/2022 23:04

Hope you told your manager to pull themselves together when they said they were disappointed?

Seriously, keep a dignified silence until your new contact is signed and then do a happy dance/gush as much as possible about how exciting your new job sounds every day!

Nat6999 · 11/10/2022 23:50

Congratulations, just smile & nod then think your own happy thoughts, do the briefest handover notes obviously missing out any vital information & only hand them to your manager as you are leaving on your last day, then block all their phone numbers so they can't ring you for missing information.
