Was recently blocked twice for a promotion as someone was going on maternity leave and they said it would mean them having to recruit someone in my place which would have been too costly. Found this fairly unethical due to the fact that I was a perfect fit for the promotion and I'm getting into debt due to cost of living m. Have been bullied at work and was told to pull my socks up when dealing with poor mental health due to DV. After multiple attempts for promotion, I decided I would leave, and have been offered an amazing job, twice the income, and current manager is now telling me how disappointed she is in me. Two weeks to go and I couldn't give a fig. Onwards and upwards! Anyone want to celebrate with me? Had a horrific week and am feeling very positive :) AIBU to be absolutely loving this?!

Congratulations! Few things more satisfying than this, have been there. Hope you're celebrating!

JennyMule · 11/10/2022 20:23

The best revenge is living well! Congratulations 😊

FabulouslyFab · 11/10/2022 20:25

How marvellous!!! Congratulations 👏

Bywayofanupdate · 11/10/2022 20:25

Yassssss!! Congratulations 🎉

Purplecatshopaholic · 11/10/2022 20:27

Awesome - congrats op, enjoy!

Sallyh87 · 11/10/2022 20:28

Well done! They sound awful, though your manager telling you she is disappointed in you made me giggle. Does she think she’s your mother?

BeckyWithTheGoodHair010101 · 11/10/2022 20:28

Disappointed in you? Hope you told your boss that it's lucky you don't give a fuck what they think! Congrats on your new job. Bollocks to them!

Glittertwins · 11/10/2022 20:28

Congratulations and enjoy your new job!

Derbee · 11/10/2022 20:29

Yay! Make sure you do the bare minimum until you leave!

Justmuddlingalong · 11/10/2022 20:29

It sounds as though your boss thinks your previous disappointment is less deserved that her current disappointment. Oh, what a wee shame for her. 🙄
I hope you're looking forward to breezing out with a cheery goodbye and a wave over your shoulder on your last day.

Johnnyripples · 11/10/2022 20:31

Your current boss is a piece of turd. The advice above to spend your last 2 weeks with her beaming while doing as little as poss is spot on!

Congratulations!

Johnnyripples · 11/10/2022 20:32

And if you have to do an exit interview you should try to fit in that you are "disappointed in her for x" as many times as poss!!

OhAmBackAgain · 11/10/2022 20:34

Don't forget to leave your boss a long but entirely useless handover which doesn't cover the most important bits of your job!

this ^

Congratulations 🎊

saleorbouy · 11/10/2022 20:34

When an employer does not appreciate you and there is no hope of promotion then why are they surprised that you have looked for pastures new.
Enjoy your RDP (run down period) and good luck in your new job.😀

MimosaSunrise · 11/10/2022 20:38

Love the disappointment. I’m sure you’re feeling very contrite at leaving such a wonderful employer for merely double the salary. I’d be tempted to pull a faux-sad face any time disappointment was expressed.

Zone2NorthLondon · 11/10/2022 20:40

superb news ! Congratulations

Blacknosugarplease · 11/10/2022 20:41

Congratulations!

ancientgran · 11/10/2022 20:44

Well done and you are well out of it. Retired HR manager and I'm amazed at how badly staff are managed, they've shot themselves in the foot. It would nice to think they will learn from it but they probably won't.

ShadowPuppets · 11/10/2022 20:45

Fucking well good for you! DH has just been made redundant as they’re attempting to merge two roles and it’s going to be a disaster - they’re two completely different things and he’s already doing mad hours - we have already said when we see him try and re-recruit his role in 6 months we’ll be toasting it and this is the vibe I need! Onward and upward for you OP 😄

Singleandproud · 11/10/2022 20:45

Congratulations. What a rubbish time you've had, I hope your new workplace is more supportive.

I recently got a new role, my current line manager told me how much I would be missed and that I was always welcome back and then took an interest in my role. Shes brilliant as is the rest of my current team and I can only hope my new team will be similar. The difference management techniques people have has such a large baring on your work happiness.

Hee hee. I’m enjoying the thought of OP doing a sorry not sorry

happinessischocolate · 11/10/2022 20:47

Well done OP

I left my last job after similar shit behaviour and got enormous enjoyment from seeing my old job repeatedly advertised over the next year as no one stayed there longer than 2 months. 😂

MadMadMadamMim · 11/10/2022 20:48

Well done! I'd have raised my eyebrows at my boss and told her that the feeling was mutual.

That I was very disappointed that I'd not been appreciated by the company I had worked for and that sadly I'd had to look for promotion elsewhere.

LovinglifeAF · 11/10/2022 20:48

Well done x

Ofcourseshecan · 11/10/2022 20:48

Sorry not Sorry

Try to look sincere while you’re singing this, OP!

Have a great leaving do, and best of luck in the new job.
