Was recently blocked twice for a promotion as someone was going on maternity leave and they said it would mean them having to recruit someone in my place which would have been too costly. Found this fairly unethical due to the fact that I was a perfect fit for the promotion and I'm getting into debt due to cost of living m. Have been bullied at work and was told to pull my socks up when dealing with poor mental health due to DV. After multiple attempts for promotion, I decided I would leave, and have been offered an amazing job, twice the income, and current manager is now telling me how disappointed she is in me. Two weeks to go and I couldn't give a fig. Onwards and upwards! Anyone want to celebrate with me? Had a horrific week and am feeling very positive :) AIBU to be absolutely loving this?!

There are few better feelings in life then leaving a job where you've been poorly treated for a better opportunity. Congrats. Don't give them a second thought, other then to post gushing reports of how amazing your new job is on social media.

Rec0veringAcademic · 11/10/2022 20:51

Congratulations! Best of luck to you, op!

blameless · 11/10/2022 20:52

Living well is the best revenge.

A message that I got far too late in my career to make full use of is 'if you're irreplaceable, you're unpromoteable'.

I have seen plenty of really good people be browbeaten and undermined because their boss was gaslighting them to keep them in their place.

Well done and good luck.

sicklycolleague · 11/10/2022 20:52

Hide some kippers on top of a very high cupboard in the managers office. I know someone who did this and it took weeks for them to find where the awful smell was coming from 🤣🤣

My DH did this with a tin of tuna emptied into a sandwich bag and taped it to the back of a cabinet.

God, why let yourself down like that? The best revenge is living well, and all that jazz; and op is certainly doing that. She should do it with her head held high.

AnyOldThings · 11/10/2022 21:14

I’m not sure if Sinatra said it but, “the best revenge is massive success”

Enjoy every minute 🥂
