Was recently blocked twice for a promotion as someone was going on maternity leave and they said it would mean them having to recruit someone in my place which would have been too costly. Found this fairly unethical due to the fact that I was a perfect fit for the promotion and I'm getting into debt due to cost of living m. Have been bullied at work and was told to pull my socks up when dealing with poor mental health due to DV. After multiple attempts for promotion, I decided I would leave, and have been offered an amazing job, twice the income, and current manager is now telling me how disappointed she is in me. Two weeks to go and I couldn't give a fig. Onwards and upwards! Anyone want to celebrate with me? Had a horrific week and am feeling very positive :) AIBU to be absolutely loving this?!

Congratulations I think you should enjoy every minute of your leaving :)

RedSkyAtKnight · 11/10/2022 21:14

It's party time! Well done!

phishy · 11/10/2022 21:14

Well done OP! Tell us more, what else has manager said about being disappointed? Has she tried to get you to stay?

DarkDarkNight · 11/10/2022 21:16

Congratulations. Some employers demand loyalty and give nothing in return. I’m flabbergasted sometimes at the promotion choices my employer makes, and how they don’t harness the potential of some genuinely talented and enthusiastic employees.

MargotChateau · 11/10/2022 21:18

congratulations @MandiY hope you give some honest feedback in your exit interview! Byyyyyye losers!!!

Goosygandy · 11/10/2022 21:19

This is brilliant and really cheered me up. I hope they end up with a useless person to replace you.

Disappointed in you. What a cheek!

Insaneinthemembraneee · 11/10/2022 21:21

Congratulations Op
All the luck in the world for your new job 🍾

Pipsquiggle · 11/10/2022 21:23

Well done on your new job, promotion and pay rise. Enjoy it and revel in it.

You have given your current employer multiple opportunities to promote you, they didn't. Make sure you do an exit interview and make it clear they know why you are leaving

serenaisaknobhead · 11/10/2022 21:24

Well done! How do you plan to spend your last 2 weeks? Working hard? 😁

Lemons1571 · 11/10/2022 21:24

I’m in the same boat, but haven’t found my new role yet. I can’t wait to resign!

ivykaty44 · 11/10/2022 21:25

When this manager said they were disappointed

what was your reply?

Lb603 · 11/10/2022 21:27

Congratulations 🍀

Also what a poor manager, she should be happy you have secured a better suited (and paid) role!

Shortskirtlongjacket · 11/10/2022 21:29

Oooh this is a lovely post! Congratulations, enjoy your new role :)

FinallyHere · 11/10/2022 21:30

Living well is the best revenge.

kateandme · 11/10/2022 21:32

Downandout01 · 11/10/2022 21:36

Amazing- big congrats! Bet that feels so satisfying. Maybe buy your manager a box of chocs before you leave to 'help her with her huge levels of disappointment'....

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 11/10/2022 21:37

Congratulations! Wishing you every success in your new job!

FlamingoQueen · 11/10/2022 21:38

MildlyMiserable · 11/10/2022 21:41

Congratulations 🥳

vipersnest1 · 11/10/2022 21:43

This, from @Johnnysgirl:
'God, why let yourself down like that? The best revenge is living well, and all that jazz; and op is certainly doing that. She should do it with her head held high.'
is absolutely right.
@MandiY, as much as they've pissed you off, leave with your head held high, in the knowledge that they will miss you when you've gone. By all means kick your heels up a bit (congratulations by the way!), but don't leave on a bad note.

Totalcrash · 11/10/2022 21:45

Love the kippers idea! Someone in our office put a prawn in the back of the bosss computer. Tee hee! Or an open bottle of milk under their desk.
go you x

SemiDetachedKittenAsylum · 11/10/2022 21:45

Boss: “I’m very disappointed in you”
MandiY: “You seem to have mistaken me for someone who cares”

🤣

NEmama · 11/10/2022 21:46
