to think that if curry with na'an is fine then so is curry on toast?

Although judging by the reactions I received at work, you would think not!

Got to work and colleague said "Sorry if I whiff of garlic, had pizza for lunch" and I said "oh I had curry on toast so I wont notice anyway!" and made a joke about us being left alone as we were both stinky.

The look on her face! She genuinely was appalled at the idea of curry on toast. So I asked if she has curry with na'an bread and she said that that was different.

I am not seeing the issue here. Apart from anything else, the crunchy toast is a nice contrast to the curry texture so is preferable imo, plus left over curry the next day always tastes better than when it is made fresh.

AIBU?!

You can put anything in a sandwich and you can have anything on toast

Its a fact.

AngelaChasesBestLife · 10/10/2022 17:43

You know those sandwich makers? My Indian mother in law makes toasted sandwiches stuffed with leftover curry. They're immense.

Also see pav bhaji. You toast and butter the roll. So basically toast.

hulahoopqueen · 10/10/2022 17:48

Yeah I could get behind curry on toast! How rude of her to react like that to your lunch, what's it to her how you like your leftover curry?!
I quite often save bolognese sauce or other pasta sauces and eat it on toast for lunch the next day, curry on toast sounds more than alright to me!

girlmom21 · 10/10/2022 17:51

When I read the thread title I was a bit Hmm but now I've read the arguments I'd probably give it a go.

Pizza for lunch on a Monday is weirder.

Armadillidium · 10/10/2022 17:54

Especially Dahl on toast, divine.

IntentionalError · 10/10/2022 17:54

Of course it is. I often have leftover curry on toast for breakfast if we have had a takeaway the night before. It’s yummy.

sweatervest · 10/10/2022 17:55

prue leith's new book is all about chucking stuff on toast.

i don't like curry or toast but i do like prue leith. (irrelevant, your honour)

TwoCoffeesPlease · 10/10/2022 17:58

I mean I wouldn’t have it for dinner or serve it to guests but as a leftovers lunch option it doesn’t sound that weird to me.

curry - good
toast - good
saucy things on toast - good
coronation chicken sandwiches - good

seems logical enough to me 🤷🏼‍♀️

pensionconfusion · 10/10/2022 17:58

I've even had bolognese on toast for lunch when I wanted something quick.

Nothing wrong with curry on toast

ThanksAntsThants · 10/10/2022 17:58

You can have literally anything on toast.

cooolio · 10/10/2022 17:59

Curry in a giant Yorkshire 😋

I’ll eat anything in on toast, I had a lovely bit of juicy lasagna left but it was a tiny portion so I chopped it up and had it on toast. No different to a naan you’re right

Not tried that, though I've had a lasagne sandwich for a similar reason.

I love a curry toasted sandwich, so I think curry on toast sounds fine.

TheHoover · 10/10/2022 18:04

My immediate reaction was total boke but I am being persuaded by these arguments (and Prue Leith).

Coronation chicken however is the work of the devil.

EilonwyWithRedGoldHair · 10/10/2022 18:05

Also, scrambled egg with garlic, chilli and coriander on toasted naan is an excellent breakfast.

Sh05 · 10/10/2022 18:07

Curry on a crunchy piece of buttered toast is bliss!
My boys love having leftover curry with toast the next day.
If you have can make good curry it'll go well with naan bread, toast or rice or pretty much anything even spread on a toasted bagel.

Joey Tribbiani is on mumsnet! 😂

Romeoalpha · 10/10/2022 18:07

The serious answer is YANBU and your colleague needs to live a little if curry on toast is so shocking!!

The lighthearted answer is that YABVVU as Naan bread is much superior!

Myotherusernameisaferrari · 10/10/2022 18:08

Also, curry on a pizza is lush. Take a pizza bread, whack on some curry, splodge of cheese. Delicious.

Cold pizza fine. Hot pizza I agree.

Why have I never thought of this?
Sounds fine.

Honestly, don't knock it till you try it! Before we moved our local pizza shop sold these and I miss them so much. Generally chicken korma but I favour a lamb tikka masala.

NotThereNow · 10/10/2022 18:12

People can be very constrained with food thinking. Can't see how it would be classed as revolution unless had a thing against toast (curry).
I used to make naan toasted sandwiches with cheese and ham. Delicious.

BigBamBoom · 10/10/2022 18:12

Curry on toast sounds amazing. M&S used to do curry with hash brown-type potatoes, which was out of this world.

CousinKrispy · 10/10/2022 18:13

Anything on toast is delightful.
