Am I just a wuss?

Our bedroom is set-up so that if you’re lying on the bed, the en-suite is to your left, and the bedroom door is to your right.

Last night, I went to bed first and decided I’d sleep on the right.

DH came up a little while later and we started watching a movie that was quite scary. When we finished, I was unnerved and asked DH to swap sides so that he could as nearer the door and could save me from approaching slasher killers.

He laughed, told me I was being silly and our rules are whoever is first to bed gets to choose the side so I needed to suck it up, and he was already comfortable and starting to snooze.

I feel like the end times are definitely upon us now...

ofwarren · 10/10/2022 15:18

I can't believe you don't have a 'side'!
My DH enjoys to nap on my side which I hate 😒

shortpeopleproblems · 10/10/2022 15:25

Sorry OP, I can't get past 'no sides' either!!

If you don't care which side you sleep on though, I think it would have been kind for your DH to let you switch... But!! No sides?!??

VeridicalVagabond · 10/10/2022 15:28

I can't give a judgement until I know what movie you were watching.

chilliesandspices · 10/10/2022 15:45

I've never met anyone in a couple who doesn't have a side. I feel like we need a poll to find out how many live in anarchy.

lovemelongtime · 10/10/2022 15:47

A side is a side is a side - even on holiday or at friends

CrunchyCarrot · 10/10/2022 15:47

There should be a trigger warning on this thread - NO SIDES?!? I have to go lie down in a darkened room.

Korean horror called A Tale of Two Sisters.

I lie the idea of no sides but I’d never dare suggest it.

I don’t like having a regular spot on the sofa, or at a table, I like to mix it up and I’d happily chop and change sides just for the hell of it.

I am aware, and even more so after reading the responses, I’m unusual…

Usernamesarenoteasy · 10/10/2022 15:57

Wait....
Everybody has their own individual side of the bed? All the time? The same side?
I have never done this.....

Angelofthenortheast · 10/10/2022 15:57

So does that mean that both bedsides have a random distribution of knickers, boxers, piles of books, phone chargers and secret chocolate bars on the floor?!

VeridicalVagabond · 10/10/2022 15:58

DownAtTheBodyShop · 10/10/2022 15:53

Korean horror called A Tale of Two Sisters.

Oooo good taste.

YANBU, the gentlemanly thing to do would have been to swap I think!

concernedalot · 10/10/2022 15:59

Well firstly you need to have sides, as everyone else has said. Secondly you are BU because you would have to witness your partner being slashed to death first because he'd be nearer the door.. so

Mrsjayy · 10/10/2022 16:01

I'm sorry I can't get over you don't have a side .what is wrong with you. Obviously you need to pick the safe side 😂

OperaStation · 10/10/2022 16:03

No sides and no bedside drawers?!

This thread has blown my tiny mind.

Rainbowsunshine1 · 10/10/2022 16:04

This thread is brilliant 😂 I also have a side because I don't want to be vulnerable nearest to the door.. My husband thinks I'm bonkers, I suppose I do to when I hear noises and he is fast asleep... totally just hide under the duvet and hope for the best 🤣🤣🤣

SweetSenorita · 10/10/2022 16:06

Psychotic killers don't come through the door. They masquerade as wardrobe monsters. Or hide under the bed 😯

Lochjeda · 10/10/2022 16:06

We don't have sides either. We like to switch it up occasionally.

HangOnToYourself · 10/10/2022 16:07

This is clearly a troll post to trigger everyone about not having a side of the bed 😂 10/10, excellent work!

Mmmmdanone · 10/10/2022 16:09

My now ex-h once said that he thought having sides was boring and why did we do it. Think that was the beginning of the end...

SantanaBinLorry · 10/10/2022 16:22

We swap sides on occasion; if one of us isn't sleeping well for example.
We usually default back to me being closer to the door.
This was decided as I'm the one most likely to wake and stab an intruder to death where as OH would sleep through and let me be murdered!

Harrystylestutu · 10/10/2022 16:22

No sides? You just swap and change? What the fuckery is that?!
this makes me more uncomfortable than it should 😂

Sweetmotherofallthatisholyabov · 10/10/2022 16:24

@Rainbowsunshine1 does your side alternate if you go to a hotel? Even that's too much ambiguity for me

BadNomad · 10/10/2022 16:25

What is this insanity. Yes, you're a wuss. Just turn a lamp on.

If DP falls asleep on "my" side of the bed, I take my pillows from under him and throw them down to the bottom of the bed and sleep that way so I'm still on the left side.

So is the door the determining factor for you? For me I always sleep on the left hand side (happens to be the door side in our bedroom) but if we were staying somewhere I would still sleep on the left regardless of door side 😂
