I destest them and their policies too

Good on her for telling it like it is

I know shes hated on mn, or rather on scotsnet. They prefer the tories there, christ knows why. Independence is a dirty word on scotsnet. So i know I'll be shot down, but i couldn't care less.

Good on you Nicola👍

She won’t say what a woman is. She hasn’t said what a woman is. She has clearly avoided saying what a woman is

Yes, because she (thankfully) regards the whole premise of being asked that question so banal that it isn't worth entertaining.

Hardly banal at all.
If a politician is unable to answer something as basic, yet very important as that, they are not to be trusted on anything.

beachcitygirl · 10/10/2022 17:22

@Quincythequince I quite agree with pp.

I feel nothing but relief that The first minister doesn't get drawn into the grandiose hyperbolic bigotry & dog whistle crap of the "what is a woman " question. She (like all of us decent real feminists ) know exactly what that is & fight against the real issues facing us.
Not answering peurile pretendy questions that serve only to attempt to exclude a
Tiny minority of society's most excluded.

Like (thankfully most adults) in the room she can see beyond the banal rhetoric.

Looking forward to the gra being enshrined in law & moving on & an end to the women dressed up as dinosaurs or handmaidens behaving ridiculously outside Parliament.

Thank heavens for sturgeon - the grown up.

Don't vote for her then?

SNP under NS's leadership keep running away with election after election, so clearly you are either completely incorrect about the fact this isn't just a minority obsession, or the majority of people aren't concerned by it enough to prevent them voting SNP.

I mean, it's kinda the litmus test of whether it is genuinely the massive, overbearing issue MN seem to think it is. Evidently people in Scotland are more than happy with the SNP's approach, and Labour, as equally wedded to GRC reform, are obliterating the 'know what a woman is' Tories in the Westminster polls currently. I can't see how anyone can credibly claim that this is anything other than a fringe obsession.

You have the debating flair of a sixth former.

If you can’t understand why not protecting women’s right is an issue, you are part of the problem and no feminist at all.

Never any discussion about what a man is eh?

When men need surrogates, funnily enough they seem to know what a woman is don’t they.

I’m sure all this oppressed girls and women around the world would love to be able to identify out of being a woman.

Why didn’t they think of that?!

Men cosplaying as women are neithe r most excluded, nor vulnerable.

Behave!

beachcitygirl · 10/10/2022 17:29

Maybe because fools like you aren't going about demanding politicians answer "what's a man"

🤦🏻‍♀️

I personally have never asked that question.
But am always keen to see the answer given.

And you can resort to ad hominem all you like, (slow clap for the smartest girl in the sixth form 👏. 👏. 👏) but failing to address fundamental parts of my last post, shows you up, not me!

NowThatsWhatICall22 · 10/10/2022 17:34

I absolutely detest Sturgeon. I voted Conservative in the last Scottish and GE purely as an anti SNP vote. I couldn’t care less if Sturgeon and her cronies detest me. My hope is a Labour GE victory for Westminster will change the landscape in Scotland. I live in hope.

The destruction of Scotland for the nationalist agenda is utterly depressing. Do your research if you live outside of Scotland, it’s (literally) criminal some of the governance of Scotland over the last 14 years. Thankfully, the recent faux-pas by Sturgeon where her true colours were shown for all to see and the U.K. media finally starting to call her out more, might just be the start of some real change…let’s hope so.

Quincythequince · 10/10/2022 17:37

Maybe I can identify into a hereditary title as the first born son, or the priesthood maybe. Or maybe in Afghanistan I can say I’m a man when my hijab isn’t on correctly so I am not beaten to death for this.

Or perhaps a woman can say, don’t cut off my ‘male clitoris, I’m really a man’ for those subjected to FGN

Do you think it would fly?!

Let me think 🤔

beachcitygirl · 10/10/2022 17:37

I didn't reply @Quincythequince because I believe through reading your posts that you are a transphobic bigot. That's my belief. Willing to be proven wrong.

So I see no point in keeping this going.

I also feel it's derailing an important thread about the horrific behaviour of the tories and the prowess of Sturgeon & why she has the highest approval rating (by a long way) of any uk politician & your opinions are meaningless in every way.

Quincythequince · 10/10/2022 17:40

LOL to dog whistle of transphobic bigot

😂

Spectacular, and ever so predictable.

Except I have not said one transphobic thing. Not one, please show me where!

And here you are with your ‘no debate’ - it’s what many handmaidens do!

And I think you’ll find millions of people; men and women alike, would not find these opinions meaningless at all. You can’t define one basic very important thing, or refuse to - I will never trust a word that comes out of your mouth!

But keep up with the insults why don’t you.

Give someone enough rope and all that…

NowThatsWhatICall22 · 10/10/2022 17:42

She has the highest approval rating because she can give absolutely excellent interviews and sound bites for the media. Smoke and mirrors. SNP conference in Aberdeen, NS says something controversial on TV a day before her keynote speech. Media shines the spotlight on her speech and SNP independence plan. How very convenient. Please, stop insulting our intelligence and get back to the day job.

beachcitygirl · 10/10/2022 17:42

Whilst so many on here are criticising Nicola Sturgeon she just gave the most magnificent speech. She quoted the vile cruelty of Suella Braverman who said it was her “dream” to see an asylum flight take off for Rwanda.

Sturgeon added: “My dream is that we live in a world where those fleeing violence and oppression are shown compassion and treated like human beings, not shown the door.”

🙌🏻

Fantastic. That's why we vote for her time & again & will continue to do so.
Proud as anything to be scottish tonight.

All this hyperbole about her saying she detests the tories. Let's recap.

Partying while people died.
Refusing to feed kids.
Siphoning billions to their mates.
Deporting Refugees to Rwanda.
Giving rich people tax breaks.
Crashing the pound.
Lying to the Queen.
Victimising the disabled.

Sturgeon: I detest the Tories

The Tories & their acolytes: How dare she!!

You literally deny the existence of trans women calling them cosplay men.

Let's unpick that shall we ms bigot?

What is it about them that is cosplay?

Clothes? - into gender rules about clothing are you? (How feminist)
Make- up ? See above
Living with/dating a non straight partner ?

Like I say, transhpobe. Call it as I see it. (Oh and I've been debating you for hours until your bigotry shone out. Start a different thread. I'll be sure to leave you alone. This one is about the tories & sturgeon 👍🏻

And yet Sturgeon says not a word every time Sinn Féin justify the murders carried out by their own armed wing, PIRA.

Sturgeon has no credibility in this, especially as she regards PSF/PIRA as friends to the point where she uses their political tactics.

Another absolutely bizarre aspect of this ridiculous 'Union'.

England and Wales want to leave the EU, Scotland and NI want to remain in the EU, but because of a 300+ year old piece of archaic legislation, nope. It's everyone out to hell with what they want.

England and Wales could have left the UK then just let their EU membership expire at the deadline. That is exactly how Boris 'got brexit done' in the end anyway, so it's doubly infuriating that May took an absolutist approach right from day one, despite having absolutely no mandate to do so.

Alexandra2001 · 10/10/2022 17:52

@Tryingtokeepgoing

ha ha no nerve hit.

But if you throw around the allegation of blatant corruption, expect to be asked for evidence... its not a surprise you can't .

Labour have heaps of good policies, do i agree with them all? absolutely not, no party is perfect, just like buying a house, we all have to compromise on our beliefs and ideas.

The Tories lurched to the right under Cameron, he was no One Nation Conservative, subsequent leaders have taken them even further right.

However, where we do agree is on PR, huge fan, FPTP really holds the UK back.

i ve pensions with several different providers, they all done well, since Brown changed the rules, so i can only assume everyone else's has too? and surprise surprise they have!!!

Scotland would be far better off without the millstone that is England... and if the only argument against is "the SNP don't know what a woman is..." ffs unless you live on Mars, we all know what the Tories have done to female rights, Tories don't care what a woman is.

Oh wait, so now we have to add 'Sinn Fein' to the ever expanding list of things Nicola Sturgeon has to account for and apologise for, despite them being absolutely fuck all to do with her or her political party.

I look forward to Douglas Ross's heartfelt apology for state sponsored terror perpetrated on minority communities in NI. Surely long overdue.

Bravo, once again words without meaning. She knows exactly what to say. Nobody is disputing that. Being a great orator will only get you so far.
(See also, Salmond) Btw, there’s no obvious successor for NS. Get ready for a bun fight about who will be their new Pied Piper when she finally leaps for a post in international communications or similar. The cry for independence might not have the same appeal when delivered by a souped up local councillor.

beachcitygirl · 10/10/2022 17:56

What are you talking about @DownNative

Simple version
The war in Ireland is all but over. Two great men who were lifelong enemies sat down around a table. the good Friday agreement.
The one that was/is hanging so shakily thanks to tories & brexit

Wtf has any of this got to do with Sturgeon?

And what's more what has any of this got to do with a modern day Sinn Fein or Tory party for that matter.
Should Liz truss be still apologising for Bloody Sunday. Stop causing trouble & pain.

A lot of families from Ireland suffered loss on both sides. Peace wasn't easily found.

It doesn't need idiots like you trying to stir up trouble.

MarshaBradyo · 10/10/2022 17:53

How do you see the border working with Scotland in EU and England out?

None, to be honest. Given what we've witnessed over the past 5 years it will invariably be a shambles, but I trust Scots politicians to get the Scots side of it working far more than I trust any of their English counterparts to sort their end out. Look at all the finger pointing at French customs officials. The chaos at Dover is all the fault of the French apparently, this despite Dover being in the UK and nothing whatsoever having changed in France. England wanted to leave the EU, France didn't orchestrate that, so why is it suddenly France's issue to deal with. For once I'm glad of their typically Gallic 'meh' attitude to it because it shows the clowns in Westminster who drove this up for the morons that they are.

I think that it's inevitable that England will finally come to its senses and rejoin the EU. It might take 30-40 years to clear the collective delusional denial, but it will happen eventually.

In the meantime it will be a case of Scotland trying to reverse all the nonsensical EU divergence for the sake of divergence, and if and when we get there, England and Wales sitting around wondering why they can't trade with anyone within 5000 miles of their own territory without so much paperwork that it's rendered futile.

The penny will drop eventually.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 10/10/2022 18:03

The cry for independence might not have the same appeal when delivered by a souped up local councillor

Nah, that should still be more than enough to continue to ragdoll the complete nonentities the unionists keep electing.

Where are they hiding Annie Wells these days? She's always good for a laugh.
