Cleaning a shoe in the sink

Slinkyminky22 · 07/10/2022 15:49

Please help settle a "debate".

Where should the sole of a sticky school shoe be scraped and cleaned?
Kitchen sink or bathroom sink/bath?

(Maybe it would preferably be a utility sink but we have none)

For voting sake:
YABU = kitchen sink
YANBU = bathroom sink/bath

I would use the kitchen sink and then clean it after

Moonlaserbearwolf · 07/10/2022 15:51

Outside tap

In an emergency, the downstairs loo sink. But I hate doing that.

Invisableperson · 07/10/2022 15:51

Outside or bathroom. Never kitchen

BeyondMyWits · 07/10/2022 15:52

Doesn't matter. Sinks are cleanable.

girlmom21 · 07/10/2022 15:53

We do have a utility sink so in there, but if that didn't exist I'd have no qualms about using the kitchen sink.

MaryTruss · 07/10/2022 15:54

Outside tap

dementedpixie · 07/10/2022 15:54

Usually the kitchen one. The sink can be cleaned afterwards

Hollyhead · 07/10/2022 15:54

A sink is a sink, can be disinfected easily afterwards so it doesn’t matter.

Shiningstarr · 07/10/2022 15:54

For this I would use our outside tap.

If no outside tap available, then I would use the kitchen sink, but I would clean it thoroughly afterwards with bleach.

Bluevelvetsofa · 07/10/2022 15:55

Bucket outside.

Slinkyminky22 · 07/10/2022 15:56

The clean-up was putting kitchen roll down in the sink to catch the scrapings, then binning it afterwards. I should have said that.

Washing shoes, boots, wellies etc, in the kitchen sink is fucking minging. Even the bathroom tab is quite vile. As a pp said, outside tap only.

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 07/10/2022 15:57

bathroom TAP obvs! Not tab!

Oh if they were just scraping that should've been done in the garden. If it required water, kitchen sink.

dryshampooer · 07/10/2022 15:58

Fill bucket and wash outside

dementedpixie · 07/10/2022 15:59

What was being removed from the shoe?
I'm assuming it wasn't dog crap

MrsPicklesonSmythe · 07/10/2022 15:59

Actually doesn't matter because you'd need to clean/bleach after anyway so I'd probably use kitchen for convenience

Happierwithouthim · 07/10/2022 16:00

Outside tap or Shower tray would be my choice

This. I couldn’t care less which sink. In our case the bathroom one is a fancy bowl on a stand and impractical for most things (not our choice). The kitchen is a Belfast so would probably win.

But I am the person that puts her stirrups and bits in the dishwasher so perhaps not the best judge! 😂

We used to have a utility sink (previous house) but we are slumming it now.

NoSquirrels · 07/10/2022 16:04

What was on it?

AmberGer · 07/10/2022 16:06

I remember my nan scraping dog shit off our shoes in the kitchen sink with a table knife 🤢🤦‍♀️

Slinkyminky22 · 07/10/2022 16:06

Outside tap was suggested as preference to the bathroom, however it's pouring with rain so that was out apparently.

No poo to be seen, it was food or glue or the like.

Food or glue on shoes? Confused WTF? It's FAR more to be shit!

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 07/10/2022 16:11

Far more LIKELY to be shit!

Floralnomad · 07/10/2022 16:13

Outside with either a tap or a bucket / bowl if no tap available so neither of the options given .
