To think Kate/Catherine, Princess of Wales, is one of the luckiest and most admirable women alive?!

She’s a Princess and future Queen Consort. She’s the wife of a Prince and future King. Mother to Princes and a Princess. Mother to a future King and the British royal family’s future bloodline.

She’s very good looking, wealthy, has a good figure and wears lovely clothes. She has mastered the art of ‘do not complain, do not explain’. So, she comes across very well (such as how she handled this yesterday: Princess of Wales challenged during royal visit to Northern Ireland).

Unlike a diamond, I can’t find any flaws in Catherine, Princess of Wales; she comes across as too perfect to fault! She has it all and more.

There’s a lot to admire because she seems to be the luckiest woman alive. What does everyone else think?

I always end up in the RF threads and feel a bit cheap afterwards. They are certainly box office that's for sure.

Grapewrath · 07/10/2022 21:07

I don’t admire her at all- I find her boring and looks wise, she’s very ‘done’ but other than that she’s very plain.

Ultimate “cool girl”, no wonder she’s admired on here, totally laissez faire with hubby getting his kicks elsewhere.

To be fair, if I were married to that nasty-tempered, none-too-bright, spoilt bloke, I'd be delighted for him to get his kicks elsewhere. Provided, of course, that I wasn't expected to provide any more in addition.

An affair with the nanny a la Enid Blyton sounds a lot more stimulating😀

girlfriend44 · 07/10/2022 21:46

She's lovely, very nicely turned out and knows how to conduct herself.
Can you imagine her shouting and swearing and also covered in tatoos?

Hilarymantelspencilsharpener · 07/10/2022 22:15

She's cheerful, interested, pleasant and friendly to people she meets, quite obviously loves her family, will very likely grow into her role over the coming years, will raise the profile of the causes she supports. Damned sure she has opinions, is intelligent enough to know that her opinions will chime with some and not with others so generally will keep them to herself - heaven knows there's many who could take a leaf.........

Beezknees · 07/10/2022 22:18

Lucky? She's in a gilded cage. Can't say anything controversial, has to always look the part, follow the rules of The Firm.

Fuck that. I'd rather be poor and free.

Beezknees · 07/10/2022 22:18

I don't find her admirable either, all she's done is marry into wealth. What exactly has she done that is admirable?

Yes, I see, your evidence is overwhelming, my bad. Grin

HRTQueen · 07/10/2022 23:18

She always looks nice

surely you need to have actually achieved something to be admirable?

paintitallover · 07/10/2022 23:30

There honestly is more to life that physical looks and 'nice clothes'. Look up a little.

Murdoch1949 · 08/10/2022 02:09

Shame she never got a career after uni, just waited around for William to finally settle for her. No respect for her.

nonono1 · 08/10/2022 08:44

Changechangychange · 07/10/2022 13:57

Yep she is a lot like Gwynneth now you mention it!

She also definitely does have flaws - she’s a heavy smoker, for one, and incredibly vacuous for two. Neither of which are crimes but not “perfection” either.

How do you know she’s a heavy smoker? I haven’t seen a photo of her with a cigarette for years (before her children were born).

Heartsofstone · 08/10/2022 08:52

Blerghh …. It’s so patronising .. princess graces commoners with her presence.. give over. She is not admirable or accomplished.

I think this is a knockabout thread not a court of law but if this was Thailand half of us would be facing up to 15 years of jail time for lese majeste... on of the great things about Great Britain is the RF are fair game for humour and have been for centuries. Always good to chop the head off a couple just to keep them on their toes....

IamnotSethRogan · 08/10/2022 09:18

I am most definitely a republican but I find her one of the least offensive. She at least gets on with her pointless role (I want to clarify that this is not me making a dig at Harry and Meghan because I completely respect their decision to step away from this pointless institution)

In the nicest way possible, you need a hobby, OP

Rubiesue · 08/10/2022 12:15

she isn’t admirable. She’s admired (by those who believe in the class system) for the position she has. Which is right at the very top of the tree.

she strikes me as reasonably intelligent (certainly more intelligent than Di, Wills or Charlie, not difficult), well turned-out, diplomatic — as in silent and uncomplaining in public, sporty. If you heard her play the piano recently you’ll see how she played it reasonably well.

She’s not a genius, she’s not excelled in anything, she’s not a great beauty. But she does have one of the highest status positions in the uk. For that she is admired (by some), and loathed by others, and tolerated by still others.

fwiw I think she must work really hard at one thing: staying thin and trying to look nice. Imagine the pressure she must feel.

hesbeingabitofadick · 08/10/2022 12:31

I wish people would leave her alone.

She's human. She fell in love with and married a Prince. They're parents to 3 kids.

Who cares if she "doesn't work" like you or I?

Would you give up your privacy for her life?
Paparazzi photographing you leaving hospital with your newborn - after the hairdresser has visited and you've put on a nice frock/heels?
Having to be so guarded that you can't speak your own mind outside of your family?
Worried that your DH or child could be kidnapped or killed?
Not able to nip to the shop for some sanpro?

All the diamonds in the RFs vaults couldn't tempt me, and I'm a magpie.

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 08/10/2022 12:42

I quite like her. It's obvious for her that the perks outway the disadvantages. I think she loves her life and unlike some other members of that family recognizes how easy she has it compared to most people. I also think she sees her role as a job and does it well and is well rewarded. I am glad she doesn't go down the Meghan route of pretending to be so altruistic, to be suffering under all the privilege and wearing £1000's of clothing and jewels, all so that she can 'shine a light on the plight of others' That level of disingenuousness is far more offensive to me.

That's a bit much. I don't particularly envy her but she does seem to be a happy and loving mother and, despite the unfounded rumours, in a very contented marriage.
