Basically you can have all the custody of the kids if you want but you must separate permanently from your oh and you are both given 5 million each to start again would you do it>?

OP posts:
BooksAndHooks · 21/02/2023 07:16

No, wouldn’t even think about it even after 21 years.

Zippidydoda · 21/02/2023 07:18

Yep. I love my DH but 5 mil would be so much security and freedom.

tuvamoodyson · 21/02/2023 07:21

No!

BashirWithTheGoodBeard · 21/02/2023 07:28

No. We're happy, do ok financially and wouldn't do that to the kids.

UnctuousUnicorns · 21/02/2023 07:35

Resounding no. We're comfortably off, and have been together for nearly 28 years, married for nearly 25. I'm not chucking that away.

AllOfThemWitches · 21/02/2023 07:39

Ooh I'm really skint and we don't have kids together nor do we live together. I have kids and 5 million would really help so I'm gonna say yes but I'd be really down about it.

Noicant · 21/02/2023 07:51

Nah but I know we’d both secretly sometimes think “I COULD HAVE HAD 5 MILLION QUID). I take your point OP, it’s not an unreasonable one tbh. We are lucky that we could afford to turn it down. If we were on the bones of our arse and couldn’t provide adequate food, clothing or shelter then I think we would for our kids.

PurpleParrotfish · 21/02/2023 07:52

@loubieloo4 I’m so sorry Flowers

Meandfour · 21/02/2023 07:52

No. Not a chance.

HelpMeGetThrough · 21/02/2023 07:56

Just asked my OH this. We both agreed that we'd want to read the T&Cs first.

If we could still be "FWBs", we might, just might consider it. If not, no, they can keep their money.

Grizzledstrawberry · 21/02/2023 07:59

Yeah, is this actually a thing? cos ill pack his bags now if it is😂

Grizzledstrawberry · 21/02/2023 08:00

PinkButtercups · 21/02/2023 00:14

Yep! Might even treat him to the expensive bin bags to put his clothes in.

Hahahaha, that made me cackle 😂

WinterFoxes · 21/02/2023 08:07

Would we be allowed illicit meet ups in 5* hotels? Could we go on dates and spend hours during custody handover of our 20-something-year-olds If so, then yes. If not then nah.

BiddyPop · 21/02/2023 08:34

The way teen DD is treating me, yes. (Currently haunting my home.ie to see if I can afford a flat for myself, but sadly the housing crisis means no).

He gets full custody of Dd and dog.

Still love DH but can't take family life anymore.

golddustwomen · 21/02/2023 08:43

Yes.

openingbat · 22/02/2023 10:57

I'd do it for less than that. Just need enough to buy my own house.

Maybebabyno2 · 22/02/2023 11:20

No, actually I don't think I would take it

Bookist · 22/02/2023 11:21

No. I would have no interest living in a world without DH in it.

My parents used to call it the push of love 🤣

mast0650 · 22/02/2023 11:57

No. But we have enough money that it doesn't put any real constraints on my life and I don't think more money would make me happier. We're not super-rich, but I never think "if only I had more money then...". And I really like my husband, so wouldn't want to mess with a good thing!

Igmum · 22/02/2023 12:26

Already a single parent. Can I still claim my £5m for pre-emptively separating? (And it's a definite yes BTW)

RosetteNebula · 22/02/2023 12:54

Nah, we get by alright as we are. We aren't rich but aren't on the poverty line either. He's my best friend and I'd be so unhappy without him, Maybe one day we will split, who knows but obviously that's different to splitting for money when you still love them.

takeasadsongandmakeitbetter · 23/02/2023 16:32

Yes absolutely

Giggorata · 23/02/2023 16:38

Yep.

OhmygodDont · 23/02/2023 16:45

For 5 mil tax free? Sure. Buy my house outright. Own car. Start a little campsite. Happy as a pig in shit I’d be.
