Return of women who were right about safeguarding

AIBU to think Mumsnet should allow women ( & men ) who were right about lack of safeguarding in certain places back on this site? ( if they wish to return) ?

I know next to nothing about all this.

How come MN made such a momentus wrong decision?
About women of all things?

Because of the threat of being called bigoted. It's a strong influence on many people and groups in our society, which leaves vulnerable people open to abuse.

achangeisafoot · 05/10/2022 06:43

If it can be said here - where did the banned posters go? Is there another forum I should be part of for womens rights?

If you're interested in how a paephophile adjacent man got to to be a trustee of a "children's charity" then maybe this thread is worth a read too:

www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4647654-carolyn-farrow-taken-to-police-station?page=1

Regarding how one of our publicly-funded police forces has been used as a private attack dog on a woman, by a man we cannot mention, whose feelings got hurt by online posts by some other person entirely, but that doesn't stop him from harassing this woman yet again and getting the police to harass this woman yet again.

I mean, this is the police. They could have spent that time investigating a physical assault or a burglary. But no. The police chose to act on information provided by the known vexatious man with a grudge, and the police said, "Yep!" and went ahead and arrested a woman for allegedly saying nasty things online, even thought she had not.

Adrian Yalland has put out a series of tweets this morning if anybody wants detailed insight into harassment by TRAs.
It’s terrifying tbh, and he is a legal professional (not sure which kind).

And the flying lawyer has also put out a written statement too, so for these reason, surely it can be mentioned.

AY has had enough- don’t blame him tbh. Have a read and see what he said he plans to do.

All power to him. Enough is enough!

Fancy MN being scared of a word.

How many organisations have peadophiles on their boards.

This man was found out to have spoken at a conference over 10 years ago which sees peadophillia as a MH issue.

Although the conference doesn’t sit right for me. The group mermaids found out and took immediate action.

I can’t see how having this one member is proof that mermaids are not safeguarding the children.

On one of the links it also says about how children were discussing going on to a less secure site so they could talk about taking drugs/hormones - again this is not mermaids doing.

I do think these groups need to be strictly monitored.
But having someone speak at a peado conference and removing them immediately - does not mean that the group supports peados (it’s actually the opposite).

I don’t think anyone should be banned on here indefinitely but if someone is saying that certain groups are all peados with absolutely no evidence, then I can see why they were.

You actually believe your own post don’t you.
WTAF?

No due diligence done when appointing a trustee to a child focussed charity when a quick Google would have unconvered.

So because there are paedophiles everywhere that we don’t know about, we should turn a blind eye to the ones that we do.

Do you actually understand what mermaids is and what they have been complicit in, and why they too are now being investigated?

Do you understand the serious issues with gender affirming care for children?

You sound like a bit apologist to be honest and to be quite frank, your views here are abhorrent.

PonyPatter44 · 05/10/2022 06:55

glitterfarts · 05/10/2022 05:50

So Mermaids have had a paedophile supporter on their board.
And Mermaids advocate giving children puberty blockers to create legal adults with pre pubescent bodies?
Am i missing something? How is this allowed? 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Exactly this. No idea how many posts I've had deleted for saying this. I am glad MN are letting this stand now.

FrancescaContini · 05/10/2022 06:55

Agree that @Noteverybodylives sounds like an apologist for paedophilia, looking for tiny little excuses as to why things may not be how they very clearly do seem 🤬

Instantnoodles · 05/10/2022 06:56

YANBU. Langcleg was especially professional and measured. I don't understand why she was banned.

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 05/10/2022 06:56

Yanbu OP.

Plus the FWR board should be reinstated.

WarriorN · 05/10/2022 06:59

TomPinch · 05/10/2022 02:31

I still don't understand what this is all about.

I mean, I searched and searched on the Guardian and couldn't find anything at all. 🤷‍♂️

WinOutdoors · 05/10/2022 07:00

I do think MN should at least respond to the question.

Krakinou · 05/10/2022 07:01

@achangeisafoot
I’m pretty new to MN so wasn’t aware women were banned from here in the past. Kind of shocked tbh as someone who’s been banned from Twitter for the crime of making men sad. I thought MN was a pretty safe space for women to talk without male censorship. My go-to forum besides here is Ovarit.

MarmaRell78 · 05/10/2022 07:01

I'm relatively new here and have always wondered what fwr stood for - as if a site for women doesn't even support that?!!!
I assumed it was something awful 😂😳

onedayiwillmissthis · 05/10/2022 07:08

YANBU. Women should be allowed civilised discussion about ALL matters regarding safety and support of women and children. Mumsnet banning women for speaking out cos some men get upset is plain wrong.

ReneBumsWombats · 05/10/2022 07:09

Why were they banned in the first place? What did they say that many of us aren't saying now?

AmongstTheCosmos · 05/10/2022 07:09

YANBU.

I wouldn't blame them if they didn't want to return though.

MNHQ - over to you.

ComebackQueen · 05/10/2022 07:09

I concur, I just want to reiterate that the post does come across as very apologetic. Most people are repulsed just reading the headline, when you delve deeper, that man is really repugnant.

I’ve noticed there seems to be a disproportionate amount of people that are supportive of trans ideology linked with sexual crimes against women and children. That alone should make people question why they have taken such a keen interest in trying to allow men into single sex safe spaces.

i very much expect a ban for expressing this sentiment but look at what happened in America with the spa. Now, tell me what came to light by that ‘woman’ sitting naked with ‘her’ out.

i very much subscribe to the JK Rowling philosophy, dress as you please, claim to be a carrot if you must but please don’t come into our toilets.

They were banned for stating the obvious, which is that this whole ideology is damaging to women and children. It shows how much things have changed. We are now allowed to say this here. As long as we don’t upset ye menz too much obviously

WinOutdoors · 05/10/2022 07:14

Yes, this, although I'd add stay away from our sport. I really don't understand why such a view has been so controversial. I work in school and I can't say it out loud, even to staff.

TBH quite honest, I didn’t know MN did this.
I don’t use the feminism boards on here at all, and am well informed on the subject via other platforms.

To have banned these posters for this, and from a website set up for women, is appalling and quite frankly dystopian.

I can’t comment on the content that the banned posters were banned for, but I am off to do some searching.

And if MN has seen to be utterly complicit in promulgating this ‘2+2=5’ mentality re this whole issue of gender affirming care, no doubt this will come to light and blow up elsewhere.

And all for some advertising dollars and to avoid aggro.

Wrong side of history indeed and I probably wont bother coming back here ever.

WarriorN · 05/10/2022 07:15

ReneBumsWombats · 05/10/2022 07:09

I believe some accused mn of also being complicit in coercion or along those lines around a time when coercive abuse as a domestic violence issue was being highlighted a lot.

(Please correct me someone if I've got that wrong.)

There's also the three strikes and you're out thing; certain people outside mn would report certain posters who came too close to the truth too many times.

Quincythequince · 05/10/2022 07:18

Primark announced yesterday they were revering back to single sex changing rooms after two widely nationally distressing incidents in as many weeks.

A move initially made to allowing MEN (yes men, call them what they are) to freely access women’s changing rooms in the name of trans rights.

Fuck…this…shit!

achangeisafoot · 05/10/2022 07:20

Thanks @Krakinou ! I'm over there now, clever forum name
