AIBU to think this government is now totally dead in the water..?

Wonder what all the Truss handmaidens tying themselves in knots to defend the tax cut will say now..?

wish we could call for an early election… don’t think we can survive till may 2024 with these current numpties

TBF Truss is clearly not going to last that long. Not that Mordaunt or Sunak are attractive prospects either, of course.

I agree Liz isn’t going to last long. The narrative has changed in two days from no it would be inconceivable to have another leader contest to well stranger things have happened on politics.

better for Labour for her to stay on power

there are a few MP’s hanging around in the wings just waiting for the right time (which probably is after the next election)

SleeplessInEngland · 05/10/2022 11:36

Truss doing her big speech at the moment but don't worry, you aren't missing anything. "Brexit opportunities, blah blah blah..."

Blossomtoes · 05/10/2022 11:43

No energy price freeze yet?

SleeplessInEngland · 05/10/2022 11:45

She's actually going with the 'anti-growth coalition' nonsense.

Certainly brave of her to accuse Labour of 'not understanding the british people' given the state of the polls.

Blocked · 05/10/2022 11:45

SleeplessInEngland · 05/10/2022 09:39

Charitaby, her strategy seems to be positing herself as pro-growth and Labour as anti-growth, but I don't think even a 5 year old would believe Labour are anti-growth, so... shrugs.

The smear campaign against Labour has been so successful people genuinely think things would be even worse now under Labour. Honestly you can't overestimate the amount of indoctrination people have had about this.

A few years ago maybe, but who's now looking at boring Starmer in his slick suit and thinking "she's right, he hates economic growth!"

As an attack line it's a non-starter.

I did laugh at 'brexit-denier' though. If we weren't all sick of talking about brexit that could have more legs.

So frustrating, isn’t it? Same old same old, bugger all substance, no policies except tax cuts.
So, you’ll be able to see your GP within 2 weeks. How? Ambulances are going to be “sent out more quickly”. How? So on and so on, vague notions and ambitions, no actual plans of how and the idiots in the room lapped it up.
“I get it and I have listened”. Nonsense. She doesn’t get it at all. She and her ideologue Chancellor still believe their 45% policy is correct. She understood that if she had persisted with it her job was at stake, that’s all.
Thankfully, in the real world (and in Westminster) she continues to loose support.

antelopevalley · 05/10/2022 12:13

I have never seen a new Prime Minister tank so far and so quickly. Usually people are happy for a change and they have good ratings at least at the beginning. I wonder if Tobias Eliman is right and she will be gone by Christmas?

TheHoover · 05/10/2022 12:28

Has she mentioned Great British Cheese yet?

Has she mentioned Great British Cheese yet?“
😁

Thought of her last night as I bought some reduced pork shoulder in Morrison’s last night.

How is this person our PM? 🤯

SleeplessInEngland · 05/10/2022 12:46

In some ways Truss is the logical conclusion of the last few years of tory philosphy: the double-think of being pro-Brexit and pro-growth. That's why the delegates liked it - external validation of the paradox keeps it alive.

SleeplessInEngland · 05/10/2022 13:31

Another fun data point!

Voting intention from rural voters:

Labour: 41% (+17)
Conservatives: 28% (-15)

Via @ YouGov
changes with August 2022.

L1ttledrummergirl · 05/10/2022 14:05

A family member has just spent 41 hours on a trolley in a&e, following a wait in an ambulance. I thought this was disgraceful but it is apparently normal nowadays.
She hasn't a plan for how to fix this...

Yeah right.

Prove it.

BoxcarMilly · 05/10/2022 14:35

Are you talking about this @L1ttledrummergirl https://www.itv.com/news/wales/2022-09-29/patient-waits-nearly-two-days-in-ambulance-before-being-admitted-to-a-and-e

That happened on Monday 26th so stop making up stuff.

Notonthestairs · 05/10/2022 14:43

Well given nearly 30,000 people waited more than 12 hours to be seen by A&E in July this year (usually the quieter period for A&E) I'm not sure why you'd be that surprised Boxcar.

My Dad collapsed and was turned away from 3 closest A&E departments and was eventually taken out of county.

Boris Johnson worst score: -53 (July 2022)
Jeremy Corbyn worst score: -55 (June 2019)

Happened to my dad in 2002.

Hmmm. Under Tony Blair's government.

Interesting.

Farming Uk seem to be taking the YouGov poll seriously.

Its the level of real harm they could inflict, in a timeframe of just over two years, that worries me.

Indeed.

Look what they've done in two weeks.
