To think Liz Truss just threw KK under the bus?!

Laura Kuenssberg: Did you discuss the top rate 45% tax cut with the whole cabinet?

Truss: No. It's a decision the Chancellor made.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-politics-63074338

An Oxford professor has started a petition asking if Can Truss and Kwarteng be prosecuted for Misconduct in Public Office. Now we know that Truss will seek to shift blame onto KK.

From what I hear, from a trusted source, very close to each other indeed...

Truss has form for adultery. Or, maybe it’s an open relationship that her husband is ok with?

Is it our business?!

Her throwing KK under the bus would not surprise me at all. She cheated on her DH which proves she’s completely disloyal. She’ll throw the whole country under the bus without a backwards glance.

Orangesandlemons77 · 02/10/2022 12:23

They are saying that the MPs are being told to vote for it or they are out of the party.

Wonder what will happen next?

baroqueandblue · 02/10/2022 12:24

Pretty much already has. Her next move is to reverse over it, then go forward, then reverse again, then go forward, etc.

Just to be sure 🙄

the80sweregreat · 02/10/2022 12:29

Yes, I wondered what her husband was thinking today too. Not that what happened years ago and nothing to do with politics should overshadow anyone getting a job or carrying it out in a professional manner , but she must have been lying to him for a long time to keep that affair going as long as she did.
It does show a she is is a duplicitous character.
Politically I'm not keen on her policies.
She is on awe of old school economics that has been tried and tested before and hasn't worked

TroublesomeLuck · 02/10/2022 12:32

When does parliament actually vote on the mini budget? I think only about 35 conservative mps need to rebel.

They're back in parliament on the 10th and will be voting on it that week I believe.

I read that too.

MP Jake Berry’s bullying tactics as Chairperson of the party.

So they risk creating a huge number of independents from their own party…

Dishonest people like Liz Truss do not deserve the good fortune they attain through their duplicitous character.

And yet here she is. As prime minister.

Awful example to set. Awful.

They are all going to tear into each other now. I have never before looked forward to a Tory party conference, but for this one I've stocked up on popcorn and pick n mix 🤣

Apparently a lot of MPs are staying away from the conference. I suspect it will just end up being a small number of acolytes and libertarian loons and she'll take from that that the Party supports her.

LoobyDop · 02/10/2022 12:38

What would happen if Sunak started a new party and enough MPs joined him to form a majority? Would the King have to invite him to be PM? Or would there automatically be a general election?

Orangesandlemons77 · 02/10/2022 12:42

There's some talk in the Times about cross-party discussions to try and get rid of her. Not sure how this might work...

sst1234 · 02/10/2022 12:42

Why does £1bn tax cut for the 45% rate bother you much when £500b to pay for unnecessary Covid lockdowns didn’t. The disastrous inflation currently is caused by the obscene spending because healthy people were paid to sit at home and the economy brought to a halt. This £1b pales in comparison. Why was there never, and still isn’t the outrage for that spending from the same people. Is it because they were the ones being benefiting from the largesse and had the privilege of sitting at home watching Netflix all day and banging pots and pans in the street on a Thursday like idiots.

the80sweregreat · 02/10/2022 12:44

To be fair , having numerous affairs and illegitimate children didn't do Boris Johnson that much harm and many politicians throughout history have had affairs and scandals. People liked Boris Johnson a lot.
Being a woman she has probably had a much harder time of it than any man gets when they cheat on their partners as well !

Wonnle · 02/10/2022 12:46

I want to know who's pulling her strings myself

the80sweregreat · 02/10/2022 12:48

The ERG are pulling her strings.
They are behind a lot of this

KenAdams · 02/10/2022 12:49

Lol at everyone claiming they heard things from a trusted source and not Twitter:

One has happened (in unusual and uncertain circumstances) and the other might happen to suggest they haven’t learned a lesson from what has already happened. They have control over the latter, not the former.

Lockdown was implemented all over the world to contain a serious virus. You can’t exactly blame the government for following WHO guidance in a global pandemic. Can you?!

These tax cuts for the wealthiest are a choice and they are unfunded borrowing for the most well off who don’t need the extra help. Worsened by the implication that there may have been insider trading deals…

Lockdown had to happen because the NHS would have collapsed. At first it was welcomed
I can see why people are bitter that they took these measures , but maybe if the health service had been in better shape in 2020 all round , maybe it wouldn't have gone on a long as it did. Not to mention the money thrown at the ppe and test and trace too
Eat out to help out ..
yes, it did nothing for the economy , but what else could they do ?

IDidntKnowItWasAParty · 02/10/2022 12:52

Indeed she did OP.
Though i'm not sure i believe that it was only his decision - I've read that those 2 have been very close for many years

Tha · 02/10/2022 12:53

Can we all take a moment to appreciate how beautifully this aged Grin it was her plan!!! And he told her what would happen. She called it Project Fear.

Tell that to @sst1234 who clearly doesn’t understand that they’re different circumstances and pressures entires.

An Oxford professor doesn't know and can't find a colleague in Oxford university who knows? How depressing is the state of our universities? No wonder Cambridge is rated higher.

AuntSalli · 02/10/2022 12:55

WakeUpAndBe · 02/10/2022 10:10

Well the rights to protest has been curbed. Some people can’t risk protesting because of their jobs (in case they get arrested or something if chaos breaks out!).

So, petitions is the next best thing. This one about misconduct in public office is at least bringing Truss and KK to account in the law. Surely that’s a good thing, no?!

Strike action is literally the only option available to people it worked for the barristers.

I feel democracy is broken. Social media got rid of Boris, now they don't like Truss. Politics always had a touch of the circus about it, but we cannot have a country run on the whims of sections of the public via social media.
It is chaotic at the moment.
