AIBU to be delighted that Michael Gove launched his bid to be Prime Minister on the BBC this morning?

What? The one who fucked your children’s education?

Blackberrybunnet · 02/10/2022 13:50

A teacher educator who will never get over it.

midsomermurderess · 02/10/2022 13:52

He has stepped back from mainstream politics, he can take more risks, be more honest, now as he has little to lose.

ilovesooty · 02/10/2022 14:00

As an ex teacher I loathe Gove but he has more competence in his little finger than Truss has in her whole body.

DuckBushCityLimit · 02/10/2022 14:00

He could reuse this informative site from last time he wanted a go at the top job.

ThreeFeetTall · 02/10/2022 14:03

I think his personal life is a bit too 'interesting' for him to be PM. So maybe he just gives no shits anymore?

Moominsweetie · 02/10/2022 14:04

What’s it about his personal life then ?

the80sweregreat · 02/10/2022 14:10

Too many skeletons for Mr Gove to ever be PM, but I agree he has more experience and integrity than Ms Truss and he backed Rishi Sunak too.

balalake · 02/10/2022 14:14

I don't think there is anything interesting or really controversial about his personal life. Certainly by all accounts treated women infinitely better than Boris Johnson, probably hasn't taken drugs since before becoming an MP, and if he is gay or bisexual, I expect 90% plus of people don't care.

jgw1 · 02/10/2022 10:31

Well judging by this thread, Gove is much more popular than Truss, excellent news.

I think gonorrea is more popular than Truss TBF.

Blix · 02/10/2022 14:18

Gove has made himself unpopular because of what he did in education and to Boris.
However I actually think he is one of those rare politicians who genuinely wants to make the world better. He's bright, principled and articulate. You might not agree with him, he's not very likeable, but I think his motives are genuine.

noblegiraffe · 02/10/2022 14:21

He lies as easily as he breathes. Remember when he said he had taken a drive on occasion to test his eyesight when being interviewed about Cummings?

TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination · 02/10/2022 14:25

TimBoothseyes · 02/10/2022 10:18

Yep because he's a fine example of everything we want in a PM isn't he?

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-48572982

He took some Coke about 5 billion years ago when he was a journalist, not a politician. Not a shit do I give.

there are PLENTY of other reasons, that are FAR more current & FAR more relative for that idiot to be nowhere near the PM job.

Mischance · 02/10/2022 14:26

You really want this guy? - the one who buggered up our education system?

Gilead · 02/10/2022 14:34

Hmm, the man who thinks we should no longer teach ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’
The difference between the brains of Gove and Truss is approximately 20 watts.
Truss=20 watt bulb
Gove= 40 watts. Maybe..

the80sweregreat · 02/10/2022 14:45

Even Michael Gove laughed at himself defending the Cummings debacle on Tv.
Not his finest hour that interview , but then he wasn't the only one doing this either
It's normally party before anyone else , so I'm surprised he had a go at Liz Truss today.

sjxoxo · 02/10/2022 14:49

Please god no. Agree no more tories.
enough is enough!

But I think conservative membership are not the average person, and they do care.

Right? But isn’t it a sad state of affairs when we look at the likes of Gove and think, “Oh go on! You can’t polish a turd but what the hell. Give it some elbow grease and see what happens. Robin Williams as Jafar might emerge!”?

antelopevalley · 02/10/2022 15:05

If that is the best the Conservatives could come up with, then time for a General Election.

Are they all going to get a turn at being PM before the end of this term? ha,ha,ha… honestly what a disgrace but you made me laugh 😂

FarmerRefuted · 02/10/2022 09:56

He's the harbinger of doom, you know you're fucked when old Gak-fiend Gove crawls out of the woodwork to steal your soul.

🤣🤣🤣

Has anyone seen the new Apprentice-style programme on channel 4 with Alastair Campbell and Baroness Warsi...Make Me Prime Minister?

Maybe the Tory party is going to try the same approach? A new PM each week, and they go home if they fuck up?

the80sweregreat · 02/10/2022 15:31

Anyone on Mumsnet fancy a go?
