AIBU to be delighted that Michael Gove launched his bid to be Prime Minister on the BBC this morning?

Quite!!

I’m not even a teacher but a parent who has not forgotten!
Gove can jump aboard the Tory ‘Go Fuck Yourselves’ train. Wish that bastard would stop turning up like some pseudo-righteous bad penny! He’s always on the ready, opportunistic, grotty little weasel that he is.
OP, the cavalry coming over the hill (there isn’t one, but if there were…) is not a Tory one.

skedaddler · 02/10/2022 10:43

He did make Truss squirm a bit this morning, she kept looking at him and nervous smiling

Booklover3 · 02/10/2022 11:04

No they all need to fuck off quite frankly. None of them seem up to the job

balalake · 02/10/2022 11:10

Rudest man in politics, but unlike the current and previous PM, and most of the cabinet, has a clue what to do and a strategy as to why.

His rudeness means he will never be chosen as Tory leader, and I think he realises his time has come and gone.

the80sweregreat · 02/10/2022 11:45

I was a bit gobsmacked today!
Firstly Laura Kuenssberg gave the new PM a fairly easy ride , then they go over to interview Michael Gove and he puts his boot in.
I really wasn't expecting this at all. I always believed it was party first with the conservatives
I know he backed Rishi sunak and Kemi Badenoch , but even so.

This is the great thing. The rats are already fighting in their sack less than a month into having a new PM.

Please stop being so horribly disrespectful to rats. A government of actual rats would do a far better job than this lot.

WakeUpAndBe · 02/10/2022 12:07

"The sheer risk of using borrowed money to fund tax cuts - that is not Conservative," Gove says.

This conference is going to be entertaining, isn’t it?!

Yesnoormaybe · 02/10/2022 12:16

Oh please no, not the dancing snake in a suit. Back stapping, sly, deceitful, oh well maybe you are right op. After all he has all the qualities required for no. 10

the80sweregreat · 02/10/2022 12:24

I don't feel he'd make a good PM, today's obvious attack on their own policies was surprising. He did row back a tiny bit on it , but his opening statement wasn't what Ms Truss would have wanted to hear so soon into the job.
Maybe her and the chancellor should have consulted people first before announcing the tax cuts ? Had some caution ?
By the sounds of it all , it was the starting pistol to a bit of smash and grab in behalf of the hedge fund managers too. Not a good look all round.

Giggorata · 02/10/2022 12:26

I wondered how soon he would come crawling out of the woodwork.
We have already seen that he is unscrupulous and disloyal in other leadership squabbles.
Unfortunately, he is probably seen as a better choice than either Liz or Richi.
I hope he has a better stance on environmental issues, green belts and fracking , at least.

TooBigForMyBoots · 02/10/2022 12:28

Are they all going to get a turn at being PM before the end of this term?

🤣🤣🤣

AmandaMirandaPanda · 02/10/2022 12:33

From a pro-Scottish Independence perspective, a PM Gove would be amazing!

(Sucks for everyone else, though).

the80sweregreat · 02/10/2022 12:38

It is a bit musical chairs at the moment.
Michael Gove might be a lone voice though
I'm sure the likes of Steve Baker and Mark Francois love these policies and would go even further. I'm not sure how many would vote against it either. It would need a bit of a backbone to do it.

noblegiraffe · 02/10/2022 12:44

Has he got his coked-up dancing in nightclubs phase out of the way then?

Hugocat1 · 02/10/2022 12:46

jgw1 · 02/10/2022 10:31

Well judging by this thread, Gove is much more popular than Truss, excellent news.

No thanks. I really wish these back stabbing shits would actually leave the party and let her get on with work that needs to be done. What is the fucking point in voting in a PM if every fucker thinks they can take over.

Fucking Micheal Gove? As if!!

FanSpamTastic · 02/10/2022 12:50

Gove will have a fight on his hands to even be an MP at the next election - let alone the PM.

SamPellegrino · 02/10/2022 12:52

balalake · 02/10/2022 11:10

Why do you think he is rude?
I have worked with him and he isnt rude at all

MagnaQuestion · 02/10/2022 12:54

After the mess he made of education - please don't put him in charge of the country....

Bunnycat101 · 02/10/2022 12:54

Other than his stint in education, Gove has generally been a competent cabinet minister. I have friends who have worked in his departments and they all really liked and respected him. In contrast, I’ve heard some horror stories from friends re other cabinet ministers.

He feels like one of the few heavy weight grown-ups left in the party. I suspect if he starts mobilising, LT is in trouble.

DamnUserName21 · 02/10/2022 12:55

Gosh, can we have a PM with decency and charisma please?! Good looks would be plus too! :))

noblegiraffe · 02/10/2022 12:55

SamPellegrino · 02/10/2022 12:52

I've also heard this. He is scrupulously polite as he stabs you in the back.

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 02/10/2022 12:58

Guy Fawkes had the right idea.

Snowdropsarelovely · 02/10/2022 13:00

LividLaVidaLoca · 02/10/2022 09:56

I mean, times are truly, truly bad if Michael Fucking Gove is seen as any sort of saviour.

Signed,

A teacher who still isn’t over it.

100 % agree!! Could never support someone who damaged the education system so much
