To think the way she dressed was a little inappropriate

I want to start by saying I am a bit of a closet fan of the Beckhams and I also want to point out I have a 13 year old daughter. I have just seen pics of the Beckhams at some fashion show and as always, they all look fab. However, I am a wee bit disappointed in what Harper is wearing. It’s a beautiful dress and she looks gorgeous in it but for me, it just looks a little too old for someone of her age (11? 12?). Am I being a bit of a pearl clutcher here or would people tend to agree?

I don't understand why they put their dc so front & centre as there is always negative comments. Most famous people hide their dc.

Yes thats the inappropriate part. The kids should be left out of the lime light. At 11 shes probably at high school now ? So many of the kids shes with will probably have phones and Instagram accounts etc and she will see and read all these comments. To her she probably just chose a dress she liked. Now she has to read about how much skin is too much skin and watch adults debate if her dress was everything wrong with the world.

Its sad. Shes done nothing wrong and I hope she doesn't read any of this stuff about herself or her parents

Neckline is grim on an 11 yo

mycatisannoying · 01/10/2022 09:35

It's a weird choice of dress for a child, I agree.

I think if there's a thread about a specific thing there should be a picture. Especially as we could Google and maybe find the wrong thing

Aprilx · 01/10/2022 09:36

It does seem inappropriate for her age, I agree with you OP.

ChelseaRobertsofMalibu · 01/10/2022 09:37

Can’t you just focus on your own life and stop policing theirs?!? You sound a little obsessed!

puttingontheritz · 01/10/2022 09:38

I have an 11 year old girl and would not let her wear a dress cut like that out. It would have been great with just a higher neckline. It's just unnecessary to cut it down to her waist. The only thing that rescues it a little is the trainers and the plaits make it look a bit like dress up. I am judging the parents not the child here.

I'm more concerned about why that woman is stood like that on the right? Is she desperate for the toilet?

RaRaRaspoutine · 01/10/2022 09:40

The neckline vs. the plaits, eugh. I'm with you OP. It's like they don't know whether to infantilise her or do the opposite. It gives me the creeps.

That's nowhere near as bad as I expected it to be. She actually looks cute - it's just a shame it didn't fit her properly.

KimberleyClark · 01/10/2022 09:45

I agree with you OP.

Sunshinebug · 01/10/2022 09:46

Bit weird to be bothered. It wasn’t that bad, assuming she probable chose it/begged to wear it. You see people in crop tops and leggings which I’d think was much worse.

bridgetreilly · 01/10/2022 09:46

I think it’s fine, actually, and her whole appearance is refreshingly childish. Hair, (lack of) make up, shoes, all make it a very age appropriate look. There’s nothing sexy about that dress on her because she doesn’t have the figure that woukd make it so, and she’s not presenting it in a way that tries to appear otherwise. I think you can all ease your grip on those pearls.

Haha I thought that

SlashBeef · 01/10/2022 09:47

Wouldn't put my 11 year old in it but whatever floats their boat. It's not even a very nice dress!
Also has Bella Hadid been photoshopped?? Her body looks weirdly contorted in that photo!

dementedpixie · 01/10/2022 09:48

I think she looks fine tbh. She hasn't got a bust so nothing is showing or being exposed. I've seen girls of a similar age wearing much more revealing clothing.

NevieSticks · 01/10/2022 09:48

I feel for her as she is growing up in this vapid world where how you look and size reigns supreme. I hope she doesn't end up starving herself like VB.

Why should we need to Google to answer a question? If you want an opinion then provide the picture/comment you want an opinion about

How is a cut to the waist dress refreshingly childish? Confused And of course she should not be in make up, she is 11. I would take that as a given not “refreshingly childish”.

honeylulu · 01/10/2022 09:51

I love the dress!

It looks silly on her rather than inappropriate especially with the plaits and trainers.

whumpthereitis · 01/10/2022 09:51

It’s too old for her, but tbh I’m not sure if it’s self promotion (well, not beyond the fact it’s her clothing line anyway) because it’s hardly showing it off to it’s best. It’s a woman’s dress, I doubt putting it on an 11 year old is going to make adult women want to buy it.

Kid probably just really liked it and wanted to wear it, so they indulged her.

CJsGoldfish · 01/10/2022 09:53

I was expecting way worse due to the OTT comments.
Can't really see the issue tbh. She looks fine 🤷‍♀️

zurala · 01/10/2022 09:54

I wouldn't let my 13 year old wear that without a cami underneath. Definitely not appropriate.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 01/10/2022 09:54

I agree OP. Thought it was unsuitable for an 11 yr old when I saw it. Her mother ‘owns’ an atelier - they could have knocked out an age appropriate homage to the adult design.

But that wouldn’t have generated the resulting publicity…
