Well, I knew that already, but every day she shocks me with the heights her deluded self-confidence goes to

As the fine writer and commentator, Rafael Behr wrote today about Labour's electoral chance, It will help that the prime minister is a maniac.

SlouchesTowardsBethnalGreen · 27/09/2022 21:46

Idiocracy.

Posterhause · 27/09/2022 21:46

Kwarteng is a crook, his mini budget was designed purely to make his hedge fund manager mates millions. He knows he can get away with this because this country is full of ignorant idiots who will vote Tory no matter what.

Truss is just gormless and clueless.

How we got to this stage is a testament to the average British persons attitude. Well done us.

Novum · 27/09/2022 21:46

Alastair Campbell says that Kwarteng has been heard to say he doesn't care if this tanks the pound, because it will come up again. If that is true, the man is economically illiterate. Even I know that there is absolutely nothing inevitable about a fallen pound rising again. Hell, I'm old enough to remember when the dollar was at around 25p - strangely, the pound has never shown too much sign of climbing back to similar levels.

Acheyknees · 27/09/2022 21:47

I have never felt so despondent about All of our elected representatives in Parliament as I do now. All of them.

icelolly12 · 27/09/2022 21:47

He has no loyalty to this country, you saw it when he was laughing at the Queen's funeral. He doesn't care about the pound, only his own gain.

BurnDownTheDiscoHangTheDJ · 27/09/2022 21:48

If I didn't have to live here I'd be laughing. She's in her seventh working day in the job and already looks like she might not make it til Christmas. It's an absolute farce.

Boris is bookies favourite to be the next PM!

Labour are 17 points ahead in the latest poll!

I think they mean before the next GE 😂

It was somebody else and apparently Kwarteng was heard saying that when sterling tanked when BREXIT happened

Says everything about the Tory party that the only alternative anyone can come up with is the compulsive liar whose colleagues won't work with him.

inheritanceshiteagain · 27/09/2022 21:54

Please someone shed light on why she was elected?

GreenLunchBox · 27/09/2022 21:55

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 27/09/2022 21:29

I wonder what the alternate reality would be had JC won last time
Out?

Corbyn's 2019 manifesto makes me so wistful and sad. He was PSYCHIC! And the right wing rags libelled him and delivered this shitshow horror show we are now living through

I was listening to radio 4 this morning and Martha Kearney was being so aggressive to Wes Steering the shadow health sec. I wish the fucking media did that to the tories- then we wouldnt be in the dire straits we're in now. DO YOUR FUCKING JOBS,media!!! 🤬

She wore a big fur hat and some nostalgic oldies thought she was the second Thatcher coming.

MsFogi · 27/09/2022 21:57

What is really worrying me is the rumours that the government is thinking about helping out homeowners struggling with high interest rates - who the f**k is going to pay for that?!?

lljkk · 27/09/2022 21:58

Tim Harford (economist) was at Oxford with Truss studying mind-bending logic structures. It's not true that Truss is stupid in any usual sense of that word.

I have a theory about why Truss makes such choices she does, MNers won't like my theory. My hunch doesn't matter, I suppose. Don't think she's thick just... in her own space. She's like many MNers in holding her own opinions in very high regard.

Bloody hell, we are being governed by an idiot
LadyWithLapdog · 27/09/2022 22:00

Truss studied logic?! Mind bending logic?! Sorry, still thick.

Shortjanet · 27/09/2022 22:01

I reckon her self confidence to ability ratio is pretty far out of alignment tbh. And to think people vote Tory because they don't trust labour with the economy?

icelolly12 · 27/09/2022 22:01

My god are they going to borrow more off the taxpayer, while cutting taxes from taxpayers while giving taxes back to some taxpayers?

Exactly! In the job 20 days and 12 of those were on hold because the queen died. So literally 8 days in she manages to crash the economy. Amazing.

I'd LOVE to know what her dad thinks.

What rumours?

That would be impossible.

I initially thought they were idiots and making stupid mistakes.

That they would do a crap job for a few fee months but try and keep the electorate sweet for the last 12 month before the next election.

Now after this last budget, I think they've given up. They have realised they wont win the next election and just want to make as much money out of the tax payer as they can while they are in power.

They are a bunch of crooks and literally channeling as much money from the taxpayer as they can, in the limited months they have left in power, in front of our very eyes.

inheritanceshiteagain · 27/09/2022 21:54

I never understood the appeal of her either. I feel the tories are making sacrificial lambs out of the prime ministers - using a politician to push through unpopular decisions so that when they lose popularity, they can blame an individual rather than themselves. Truss is going to be completely hung out to dry.

RafaistheKingofClay · 27/09/2022 22:07

inheritanceshiteagain · 27/09/2022 21:54

The Tory party is currently controlled by a small cabal of Ukippers. That set of MPs that make up the ERG/CRG. They are complete psychopaths but you can’t really get elected without their support. Truss said everything they wanted to hear - tax cuts, no more lockdowns ever, trigger article 16, no windfall tax

Did wonder whether she was just doing that to get elected. The answer to that is clearly no.

lljkk · 27/09/2022 22:07

I suppose a universal truth is that very clever people can make terrible decisions, and fairly thick people can make overwhelmingly good decisions.

This would be ok if it was choosing who to screw with but not when you’re supposed to be a PM.
