To think coverless duvets seem like a good idea?

Just go in the washing machine when dirty. Use with a sheet and a bedspread. The thought of no longer wrestling with duvet covers and not having them hanging over the banisters and shower door drying is quite enticing. Anyone got one and would you recommend?

Surely they take ages to dry compared to washing a duvet cover?

KangarooKenny · 26/09/2022 13:52

I don’t have a problem putting duvet covers on, I do a super king on my own easily.

minidancer · 26/09/2022 13:53

Just put a sheet under your normal duvet and don't wash it as much. The drying time must be horrendous for them

Mine takes a few hours max to dry, on a standard clothes horse

BendingSpoons · 26/09/2022 13:54

It feels very inefficient in terms of washing to me. One coverless duvet probably fills up the machine compared to multiple covers.

candycaneframe · 26/09/2022 13:54

They're great, have had them for years. Wouldn't go back

flashbac · 26/09/2022 13:54

Do you own shares in this company op?

Chouetted · 26/09/2022 13:54

I don't understand what's innovative about them - wasn't this what we had before duvets?

I have childhood memories of sleeping in sheet and blankets with an eiderdown over the top.

SoupDragon · 26/09/2022 13:55

We had these in the 70s!

No I don’t. Just wondering.

If you want to sleep like you're in the 1950s, go ahead - it's great for warmth.

But don't claim it's a new invention - the whole point of continental duvets is you don't need sheet and bedspread.

Sunseeker100 · 26/09/2022 13:58

We got one for each bedroom in the summer, the 4.5 tog. Loved them so much have just got the warmer ones. Also got one for my mum as she struggles with duvet covers

Would really recommend. They dry great and you can tumble dry them and the insides don't ball up.

We don't find the 10.5 tog warm enough so we supplement with a throw and considering using the thinner summer one as a top sheet for really cold nights.

ThreeRingCircus · 26/09/2022 13:58

I think they're a good idea to be honest (if they wash and dry quickly.) It depends how slippy they are and if a large blanket could go over the top in winter without it just sliding off.

Arucanafeather · 26/09/2022 14:00

I definitely fancy getting these! I hate putting duvet covers on and I would love to wash my duvet every week to.. but don’t for obvious reasons.

Hotandbothereds · 26/09/2022 14:00

I don’t have any issues changing a duvet cover whatsoever, and like having a few different sets.

I’m not convinced on the drying time, even a duvet cover takes longer than a few hours to dry on an airer.

Hugasauras · 26/09/2022 14:02

Love ours! We have a super king and it fits in our washing machine fine and dries really quickly. We've replaced all the covers with them.

Rutland2022 · 26/09/2022 14:02

I have one for DD, useful for toddlers. But sweaty man made fabrics are not nice to slep under all the time.

lovemelongtime · 26/09/2022 14:02

But don't you need a massive washing machine? Our mattress topper doesn't even fit in our standard machine, so a duvet deffo wouldn't. Large king size bed.

Never claimed they were a new invention. What is up with everyone today? I remember the old style quilts but unlike the continental style they didn’t cover the whole bed and were not a substitute for blankets.

Just put mine in the machine - I love them and have switched all the duvets in the house to them. The ones I have are the nightowl ones - wash great and dry very quickly

LadyDanburysHat · 26/09/2022 14:04

I bought these for my DSs recently. They are great. Dry in a couple of hours. And I do use a top sheet so they don't need to be washed as often. I only bought them as both boys were getting bigger beds so I would have needed to buy duvets and covers for both. It was cheaper to only buy the duvet.

I bought the night owl ones, but from Costco where they are much cheaper.

Hugasauras · 26/09/2022 14:04

Yes ours are Night Owl too. I think M&S do their own brand ones.

oviraptor21 · 26/09/2022 14:05

Would a sheet and blankets/quilt not do exactly the same and be much more economical to wash and dry?

They're made to dry quickly, you can not buy it all you like, but unless you own one it's a bit silly to claim those who have them are lying about how long it takes to dry.

Babyitstimetomoveon · 26/09/2022 14:06

We have microfiber ones for my ds (he is autistic and likes to hide inside duvet covers). Best thing we ever bought, dry really quickly. Love them.
