This poor girl.

I've got three DDs I can't imagine how I'd be if this had happened to one of them.

Primark staff were helpful but say it's happened previously.

No shit, predators are of course going to prey on easy access semi clothed women.

We need to rise and revolt.

There needs to be a rule and also a sign saying if anyone walks in on someone else in the changing room you permanently get kicked out of the store. People would have more care in what they are doing.

And how is that going to be policed ?

Pumperthepumper · 25/09/2022 18:18

Keyansier · 25/09/2022 18:14

You can think what you like is true, the majority of other people in this thread understand it, even if you don't (or pretend you don't).

I understand that the problem, as always, is predatory men.

ReneBumsWombats · 25/09/2022 18:20

I've been followed and pestered by men in public who hung off and went away when I found a ladies' room. I admit there wasn't an anti-man force field (that I knew of) but societal and cultural expectation matter and that's what got them to not follow me in there.

I guess if they had been armed and absolutely psychopathic, it might not have worked, but these people are largely opportunistic and can be deterred. It certainly worked on every occasion I had need of it, which is significantly better than nothing.

LetMeSpeak · 25/09/2022 18:20

ReneBumsWombats · 25/09/2022 17:57

You're overegging it, mate. It was believable for a while because the serious people really do sound like that, but there does come a point.

So someone has a different view to you and because of this shouldn’t be taken seriously? If that’s the case surely this open forum isn’t for you. I have my views on this and you have yours.

As I said in the post the generation/culture is what most likely is the reason we don’t/won’t agree on this.

Pumperthepumper · 25/09/2022 18:16

Women can still challenge anyone they see fitting a camera in a changing room though.

Cameras can look like anything. And/or be so small as to not be seen. Inside the screw dents, disguised as a hook, placed under ceiling tiles witg tiny holes drilled fir the lens. And in these floor length lockable cubicles you seem.to think solve the issue you'd never see them.do it.

I understand that the problem, as always, is predatory men.

And the solution is not to erode our safeguards against them.

But again: it won’t be solved by single sex spaces either.

But surely the actual solution is to create further safeguards - such as individual cubicles or security in every one.

Pumperthepumper · 25/09/2022 18:18

I understand that the problem, as always, is predatory men.

Yet you seemingly find it hard to grasp that limiting the chances of predatory men in single sex spaces would lessen the chances of predatory behaviour happening as opposed to letting predatory men in single sex spaces.

Questions: Do you leave your front door unlocked with the door open? As burglars would just break in anyway. Do you leave your car unlocked with the keys inside? As carjackers would just hot wire it anyway. Do you let very young children find their way home by themselves? If someone really wanted to kidnap them, they'd just do it anyway whilst the supervising adult was distracted.

Etc.

Your posts are a joke. I had my suspicion when you clocked a male by hands and build and immediately asked how it could be possible to recognise a male.

It was plausible because so many people really are that irrational and keen to throw women's rights under the bus, but like I said, there comes a point. Anyway, good game. I'm not upset that you're posting. Seeing the cognitive dissonance and absurdity laid bare is no bad thing, whatever the poster's real motives.

Why can't you have such individual, floor to ceiling, lockable cubicles in male, female and gender neutral sections?

No, I don’t do any of those things. But I don’t agree that single sex spaces stop every single sexual predator, because they don’t.

You're the only person who is suggesting that. Nobody else has - and certainly not the poster you responded to which sparked this entire conversation. Perhaps you misread what they said.

well I would love for you go to Thailand and correctly identify all the trans from cis gender women in that country.

No, that poster suggested single sex spaces would stop a camera being fitted. I disagreed.

Pumperthepumper · 25/09/2022 18:31

OverTheHillAndDownTotherSide · 25/09/2022 16:51

Again, doesn’t deal with the hidden camera issue.

Here it is.

b8tes7sw · 25/09/2022 18:31

The curtains are a shit idea. Should be lockable cubicles, then everyone would be protected. Companies can't afford to and won't be ID'ing people to check who's genuine trans and who isn't....

Pumperthepumper · 25/09/2022 18:30

No they didn't.

Pumperthepumper · Today 16:55
No, but surely that’s a separate issue entirely. The hidden cameras also won’t be stopped by single sex spaces.

DontTouchThat · Today 17:05
Well it will be damn well harder for them to get in there if males are excluded by default surely.

Pumperthepumper · Today 17:06
Why would it?

CatsandFish · Today 17:08
Are you serious?
You really don't understand how a male not allowed to enter female spaces, with females around on the lookout, has less chance of slipping in and putting a camera in, compared to men coming and going into these stalls without a care?

As I said, perhaps you misread. Easily done.

b8tes7sw · 25/09/2022 18:33

I should have said, floor to ceiling cubicles.

None of those people are ‘the poser (I) responded to that sparked this whole conversation’ though. Perhaps you misread your own comment.

GlassDeli · 25/09/2022 18:35

If there is nothing wrong with being trans, then surely men can accept transwomen in their changing rooms, as they are male.

Why should women have to make way?

Keyansier · 25/09/2022 18:35

Pumperthepumper · 25/09/2022 18:31

Here it is.

Lockable changing rooms and single sex changing rooms aren't the same thing... Your solution was that lockable changing rooms would solve things. If the lockable changing rooms are unisex, then no, they wouldn't.

Because predatory men can go in there (and are free and welcome to go in there) and install a camera and record/live feed women undressing. There is less likely chance of this happening if the same predatory men were not free and welcome to enter.

I disagree. It’s very easy to walk into an unstaffed changing room regardless of the sign above the door.
