To think alot of you are weird

Clickbait title I know, but on the back of another active thread I'm genuinely curious about this.

I honestly think anyone that doesn't instantly change into comfy clothes (pj's or lounge wear etc.) As soon as they come home are seriously weird. How can you get comfy on the couch in fecking jeans 🙈 I also can't do chores in normal clothes, has to be old pj's.
If I'm not going anywhere for the day then I just shower and get into a different pj set. I can't stand wearing shoes indoors either, so slippers are lined up on the shoe stand near front door.
My kids don't even need to be asked, once they come home from anywhere (shool, shopping etc.) They take off shoes and go change into comfy clothes. I'm in no way a germaphobe, it's not related in any way to cleanliness, its just comfort.

This was not my upbringing, my dad ran his business from our home so there was always alot of traffic at our home, people coming & going. So we always had to be fully dressed, hair neat with shoes on from early morning till evening. He thought, and still thinks, wearing pj's during the day looks dirty or lazy.

So anyway:

YABU - I don't change as soon as I get home, you are the weirdo.
YANBU - yep, always instantly into fluffy socks and stretchy bottoms.

I don’t wear pjs indoors 24/7 as I’m not a slob.

TheOrigRights · 23/09/2022 15:30

Why don't you comment on the actual thread about this?

Don’t think I own anything with sequins 😂

😂Omg if I could choose I would be an absolute slob through and through. Horizontal 100% of the time, asleep 90% of the time, fed on demand and in the comfiest pyjamas money can buy. Life's short why not sit back (lie down) and relax.

Moveoverdarlin · 23/09/2022 15:35

I couldn’t stand the thought of someone knocking on my door between the hours of say 9am and 9pm and finding me in pyjamas - regardless of whether they’re clean or cashmere and from the White Company, to me it’s just slovenly. Comfy clothes like leggings or joggers with slippers fair enough, but PJs are a no-no.

I would put on makeup but I wear a baggy night gown around the house. tbh it can probably pass as a day dress. Its something like this: www.laredoute.co.uk/ppdp/prod-350242539.aspx

tbh a lot of dresses marketed as day dresses look like this these days!

That nightdress is ugly.

Wouldn't even wear it to clean the house in.

My clothes fit properly and are comfortable enough to wear all the time.

Do people who feel the need to change into loose clothing as soon they walk through the door spend their days in tight, ill-fitting clothes?

Bestcatmum · 23/09/2022 15:35

I try and look vaguely human during the day so I wear harem trousers and Next do fantastic oversized teashirts for £10 which I have in every colour, and no bra - I'm 60 years old but this is Glastonbury so it's normal attire for round here. I'll put a cardigan on to hide the fact I'm not wearing a bra if I'm going out or I wear one of those pull on ones.
I don't really like seeing kids and adults out in onsies and obvious pyjamas during the day in supermarkets and shops, they could at least wear tracksuits.

ShesThunderstorms · 23/09/2022 15:35

If I'm definitely not going back out, or out at all, I'll wear leggings and a hoodie or a tracksuit or something just in case someone came to the door or unexpectedly needed to pop in. That way I'm still comfy but not embarrassed.

Topgub · 23/09/2022 15:36

@Moveoverdarlin

What's the difference other than pattern?

i don't actually own any pj's

I don't either.
I rarely wear jeans.

Blossomtoes · 23/09/2022 15:40

All my clothes are comfortable. So are my shoes. I hate slobbery.

Ilovevacations · 23/09/2022 15:41

Reluctantadult · 23/09/2022 13:59

I would hate to wear pj's not in bed. Do you change into fresh pj's when you want to sleep?!

I have pj’s that I love to wear around the house. I have separate pjs for cleaning. When it comes to bedtime, I just wear a vest top and my knickers.
I would never wear pjs to actual bed!

My pjs haven’t got Elf on the front or Winnie the Pooh on them though. One set is a pale pink woollen hoodie and matching bottoms. Another is a light grey long sleeved velour top and matching bottoms. You could answer the door in them comfortably.

RobertaFirmino · 23/09/2022 15:41

What is bloody odd is people buying uncomfortable casual wear. I'm having a lovely sit down with a nice cup of tea in a dress and thick tights. V. comfy.

decorecor · 23/09/2022 15:42

WaddleAway · 23/09/2022 13:59

I’m in and out of the house a lot… school runs, work, taking kids to activities, picking them up, gym, hobby etc. I couldn’t be arsed to get changed every time I entered and left the house! But each to their own, I don’t think either way is weird. Just preference.

Same. I'd be getting changed all the time! I won't wear joggers or similar to these places so I have to wear jeans or something equally semi-presentable all day.

JOFFCV · 23/09/2022 15:42

I love a movie day in winter with candles on, comfy clothes and snacks. If that makes me a slob then I'll own it. It's not very often and me and my DH work hard.

If someone knocks on my door and I answer it in my lounge wear then that's up to them if they want to judge me but be to fair we look alright in whatever we wear and it's always clean (not slept in).

I might put a bit of foundation on and wear some perfume.

Chilling is nice.

Blackmetalmama · 23/09/2022 15:45

YANBU. We always did this growing up. Home, wash our hands and change into comfy clothes/pjs, relax. Now me and my siblings are the same in our households. I will also shower and change into fresh PJs like you. I do care about germs, but much more than that, I just find it a lot more comfortable!

hoovermanouvre · 23/09/2022 15:46

I tend to wear dresses 90% of the time and it's not uncomfortable at all. I have never owned pjs in my life and always wonder who buys them because it's like something on a Christmas Special. I also do not own socks at the moment, though I will get some soon.

Always4Brenner · 23/09/2022 15:46

New home but one day a week Saturday I think will be pj and treat day.

Why is it 1950s to not be wearing pyjamas? What does that have to do with pyjamas.. No I don't have any because what is the point? What is the point? I have various silk robes / dressing gowns and wear them first thing. If your husband comes in and you're not even dressed, I don't think it's a good look at all. Who does that?

It's 1950s to suggest anyone shouldn't wear something because of what their husband will think.

Cakeandcardio · 23/09/2022 15:47

I agree! I have a few old tshirts that I only wear about the house alongside pj bottoms. I clean in them too etc but basically only wear comfies in the house. It's not a cleanliness thing though as I rarely wash my clothes. My cousin once told me she washed her clothes after every wear. I think I've washed my jeans twice this year 🤣

You don't own socks? Do you live in the UK?

FrecklesMalone · 23/09/2022 15:49

I am in and out all day and eve. Very rarely come home and then don't go out.

hoovermanouvre · 23/09/2022 15:50

I don't own socks no, except for some they gave me for free in Pilates.

YABU for putting "alot". It's not a word.

So I've been told 😅
