AIBU?

To think alot of you are weird

Clickbait title I know, but on the back of another active thread I'm genuinely curious about this.

I honestly think anyone that doesn't instantly change into comfy clothes (pj's or lounge wear etc.) As soon as they come home are seriously weird. How can you get comfy on the couch in fecking jeans 🙈 I also can't do chores in normal clothes, has to be old pj's.
If I'm not going anywhere for the day then I just shower and get into a different pj set. I can't stand wearing shoes indoors either, so slippers are lined up on the shoe stand near front door.
My kids don't even need to be asked, once they come home from anywhere (shool, shopping etc.) They take off shoes and go change into comfy clothes. I'm in no way a germaphobe, it's not related in any way to cleanliness, its just comfort.

This was not my upbringing, my dad ran his business from our home so there was always alot of traffic at our home, people coming & going. So we always had to be fully dressed, hair neat with shoes on from early morning till evening. He thought, and still thinks, wearing pj's during the day looks dirty or lazy.

So anyway:

YABU - I don't change as soon as I get home, you are the weirdo.
YANBU - yep, always instantly into fluffy socks and stretchy bottoms.

I wear pjs in the house.

Since lockdown I choose sets that I could get away with on zoom. (If I had to I mean - I generally dress but sometimes you can get away with your pj top if it's plain enough).

I'm currently considering this set...

It's not plain but I think that looks okay on zoom wouldn't it? 😁
I love cute pyjamas normally though.

I need to make lines between home and work. For me being at work (which has been in my garden office for 7 years) means getting dressed.
I find if the lines are blurred I don't feel switched off from work properly.
It's a bit like working from home with children - I am neither working or being a mother as well as I would like

Yanbu.

My ds is a swimmer and trains morning and evening.

I'm up - in gym wear and go walking whilst he trains.

Home showered and into work clothes.

Home after work and straight back into comfy clothes to take him out again. I'm not even chilling on a sofa but I'm not sitting around a swimming pool in my work clothes. I want to lounge Grin

With kids that need us, so we literally never stop going

other than when you’re starting threads on comfy clothes on a chat forum and updating pretty much on the hour multiple times! 😂

Oh sorry, I don't generally use zoom for work. It does happen occasionally, but I usually use it for friends and family, training courses/night classes (both personal and work related but not work), and general appointments (counselling etc). I had to change my hours because my home life situation has changed and I am all over the place at the moment with work/life balance. I agree with you though it is important to create lines between home and work. Not always easy to achieve though. Life used to be simpler.

@Mindmyown any recommendations on where to buy nice lounge sets please? Mine have now converted to the 'cleaning clothes' pile.
I'm very much like you, although I do find my jeans are comfortable, they're George jeggings, bought in pregnancy and never looked back. But if I'm in for the day/evening it's my lounge sets (now used for cleaning) or pyjamas for relaxing. WFH it's jogging pants and t shirt or tank top. Would like to replace my lounge sets though for staying home days.

Ah don't worry....in fact yesterday I had an early work zoom with a colleague in Hong Kong.
I put a sweater over my pjs. I think I got rumbled as I had to leave the office to get something, so she probably saw my floral bottoms.
This is the first time I've done that.
I've also done zoom calls (camera off!) from my bed if they're at 5.30am.
Lines are important but WFH also allows them to be broken now and again.

Just watching Keanu Reeves on TikTok in his lounge wear - proof that some people look definitely fitter than others in lounge wear.

Maybe some of us think you're a slob. Maybe. Certainly wonder why you wear any clothes that aren't comfortable.

I think it's rather sad a bit that you would judge your partner though

Says the woman more than happy to judge everyone who doesn't do what she does.

All your talk about "lounge wear" ,"pjs" and "snuggles" sets my teeth on edge. Yes, I'm judging you, but you started this thread.

I don't really like pyjamas and my clothes are comfortable even my jeans.

The only time I change is if I'm dressed up for something then I'd go and put jeans and jumper on when I got in.
DH is the same, he doesn't own joggers or pyjamas.
Younger DC change out of uniform ASAP usually into joggers and t-shirt. My eldest loves pyjamas though. It's a bit of a bug bear of mine that they come to the dinner table in them tbh.

I have done a quick google and many clothing stores use the word comfy on their website, it is a common word.
Not sure why you can't stand the word? Is is because it is an abbreviation of comfortable? Are you OK with comfortable?

Well yes op - most of us wore loungewear all the time at home when we weren’t going anywhere and tied to the sofa breastfeeding

My apologies I didn't think it would come across as very offensive since I did say I was raised in house were wearing pj's/loungewear was unacceptable and gave the vote option to tell me I'm the weird one .... it was just meant as fun, but I honestly do apologise to you, & anyone else, I may have offended with poor choice of words.

If its any consolidation I'm an adult with ADHD and some of my mannerism are quite weird by most people's standards, I get called weird (affectionately) by friends and family regularly I just laugh about it. However, I understand this is not ever one's reaction to being called weird & have apologised earlier on this thread.
