To Buy Shein??

Hi, tempted to make some purchases from Shein and wondering whether anyone who’s bought from them would recommend their clothes or not?! Money’s right but really need some new winter clothes, however as Shein is so cheap I’m sceptical! Any experiences of their clothes welcomed! Thanks!

I asked my friend the same thing a few months ago and I’m now converted. The quality isn’t amazing but it’s no worst than New Look or similar. I love their clothes.

RunnerDuck2020 · 22/09/2022 22:43

It’s not very good quality and arrives several weeks later all scrunched up in a small parcel with a weird smell 😆 I bought a few pieces from there but wouldn’t again.

They are cheap for a reason. Fast fashion at its very worst. Terrible from an environmental and ethical perspective.

EmmaC78 · 22/09/2022 22:44

I have bought a few basics from them like black vest tops and the quality was fine. As pp said no worse than new look, asos etc

Bubblebubblebah · 22/09/2022 22:44

Really depends how cheap you go.
I ordered once and frankly, I eould rather have 1 coat than 5 ehich eill last approximately half of the 1 better coat's life for about same money in total.
Material and sewing lines can be proper dodgy. Might not be. Bit of a loterry ime

browneyes77 · 22/09/2022 22:44

I've bought a few things from them.

They do some nice stuff.

In fact I'm waiting for an order to be delivered in the next day or two. I've bought a few nice tops from there for work etc

Campervangirl · 22/09/2022 22:45

I haven't but my sister's do, they've had some lovely stuff.
I'm in between sizes so I don't want to have to return anything but plan to buy from SheIn when I lose my lockdown weight.
My nephew's new wife who loves her designer gear pulled out a load of shein beach wear, cover ups, bikinis on a recent trip, absolutely lovely.
You should risk it, they do have a size chart too

I’ve read that they use concentration camp inmates to make their products. I tried several times to find a reliable source eitger way and couldn’t, so didn’t order just in case.

Luredbyapomegranate · 22/09/2022 22:45

It’s cheap and it won’t last.

If you know what you’re looking for try eBay first? You’ll find better quality for less money

Mine has always arrived within 1-2 weeks (latest order coming tomorrow I literally ordered beginning of the week)

And everything I've ever ordered always comes in a shein labelled zip lock bag?

Chdjdn · 22/09/2022 22:47

I’ve found it fine but it takes a while. With money being tight I’m converted to buying on Vinted; lovely dresses from shops like oasis for £5 and better environmentally to buy pre loved

Discovereads · 22/09/2022 22:49

Only if you want to financially benefit from and contribute to the perpetuation of slavery or not.

Today we’re sitting in judgement of all the Georgians putting sugar made by slaves in their tea, think how history will judge you for putting on clothes made by slaves.

It wasn't just Shein. Most fashion companies were one eay or another tied to use of Uyghurs IIRC.

No, but the OP only asked about Shein.

Dollydea · 22/09/2022 22:52

I bought most of my daytime holiday clothes from SHEIN , the quality isn't fantastic but fine for casual days out & lounge wear. Arrived within 2 weeks, all true to size etc. The swimwear I bought was fantastic.
I used to use boohoo but for most things shein works out half the price and same quality.

IncessantNameChanger · 22/09/2022 22:52

I'm fairly sure most clothes are not ethically made tbh. It's how well you dig.

I buy about three summer dresses a year from there. They last fine.

Yeah ok. Sorry?
I wasn't excusing Shein just making sure that it clear?

CaptaNoctem · 22/09/2022 22:53

If you are happy to support a company that makes its workers put in 75 hour weeks and have one day off a month then go ahead.

Horrible company

There are many ethical clothes companies. That’s just an excuse to imho.

Absolutely this. Vinted means you can get great quality clothes at great prices. Environmentally sound and potentially puts money in the pocket of normal people.

Of course it's not as easy as ordering a shed load of stuff online, but more considered buying is never a bad thing.

Creameggs223 · 22/09/2022 22:58

I've bought from there its fine clothes for kids see them through the season before they looked tatty and same with outfits for me.

PalePurplePumpkin · 22/09/2022 22:59

I like Shein, it's no different to Primark in terms of quality.

Their Summer dresses, swimwear and shoes are great.

Veryverysadandold · 22/09/2022 23:01

I can't bring myself to support a company like that even though I'd love some cheap new clothes, aren't they widely acknowledged to use slaves?
