Madonna… wtf??

Teenyliving · 22/09/2022 21:43

Madonnas Instagram just popped up on my feed.

erm.

is it genuine? She has had so much work done that she looks about 25 - in the pics - I imagine in real life it looks kinda weird.

and it all seems to be some kind of weird porn inspired vibe - but in a very clunky and unsubtle way.

I am genuinely shocked. I haven’t really seen anything of her for quite a while.

is this a surprise to anyone else or have I been totally out of the loop??

She looks bloated all over. Not attractive.

HCPiss · 22/09/2022 22:14

She looks ridiculous and more and more like that cat woman who overdid the surgery. Tragic really. Why just why?

Because people like you pull women apart for their looks no matter what they do. Had she 'aged' in the way that you want then she would be slated for letting herself go.

nolongersurprised · 23/09/2022 07:17

last year she was on the The Tonight Show and there was all of this scripted, faux angst about how she is always so “unpredictable” and OMG what will she do next!!

And of course, predictably, she slid across the desk and humped it 🙄.

She may have been risqué and controversial in the 80s but it doesn’t really work anymore. Not because she’s older, but with the Internet age simulated sex and nudity isn’t really that shocking.

anonacfr · 23/09/2022 07:27

I find it all so exhausting.
This endless need to perform, either in looks or actions, is so tiresome.
To me it feels like she needs to project a tailored image to compensate for an otherwise lack of self.

SparkyBlue · 23/09/2022 07:31

@SpidersAreShitheads I 100% agree. That's how I feel when I see people on telly and they've done this to themselves I often feel disappointed that they have fallen into this trap and followed the herd.

risefromyourgrave · 23/09/2022 07:31

I love Madonna’s music, well up until her Confessions on a Dance Floor album, haven’t really listened to much of hers after that. And I loved her in Evita.

All this surgery and filters just show how fucking toxic fame is. I think unless you have someone around you who genuinely loves you and whose opinion you will trust then you can just get so caught up in chasing that elusive ‘something’.

I imagine the pioneers of plastic surgery who did it to help war wounded men would shudder to see what their legacy has become. Some plastic surgeons obviously have zero morals.

I think she's ageing /living pretty much how everyone who's ever heard of her would imagine her to be.

This!

I'm always amazed anyone would think she'd be growing old gracefully.

Absolutely love her! Legend

GyozaGuiting · 23/09/2022 07:44

I don’t think people mind her having the plastic surgery or trying to look younger it’s that she doesn’t look human. She’s so bloated she looks like she’s face down in a river for a week.

I didn’t realise about Zac Efron, he may have had chin surgery but he’s certainly also had filler, his eyes look strange. He really didn’t need to do anything he was beautiful!

ShirtingForkBalls · 23/09/2022 07:44

It's upsetting to witness.

IncompleteSenten · 23/09/2022 07:45

She's (like many celebrities) a product more than a person iyswim. So they have all that work done because everything is about maintaining the image of the product and selling the product.

I don't envy them. Yes they have massive wealth but they lose so much too.

Bbq1 · 23/09/2022 07:50

She looks really awful. Unrecognisable and alien like. Why do these women do it when they look far less attractive after surgery and in many cases, downright. horrendous? I was shocked to see a pp had mentioned Gwen Stefani going the same way who always was naturally beautiful. My god, she's literally ruined her looks. So sad.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 23/09/2022 07:55

Messing with the face is a slippery slope.

I'm not against freshening the face.

I had deep frown lines on my forehead I have botox 3 times per year.

I'd be terrified to start fillers now that I'm in my early 40's had I been rich and famous in my 20's I'd probably be looking like Sylvester Stallone's mother today.

Because we live in a youth worshipping culture where the worst thing a woman can be is old and have wrinkles.

MarshaBradyo · 23/09/2022 08:06

It must be such heavy editing plus the rest

I suppose she’s creating the whole image

It’s very weird to look at though

AtrociousCircumstance · 23/09/2022 01:30

I’ve really enjoyed this thread and sort of tried on all the different opinions like dresses - yes, she looks bizarre and distorted, yes it’s sad and disturbing…but also, yeah, she’s not behaving like a 64 year old woman ‘should’, she is outraging us with her filters and fillers and splayed poses, and that’s her job, that’s who she is.

She was the coolest girl in the world, once. But also she was always a bit too forced and try hard to be really cool. Both felt true.

What can’t be denied is that however playful or daring or defiant she may be with her current incarnation, the boot-mark of the patriarchy is heavy on her face.

I looked through photos of her from the 1980s to now and suddenly thought, I kind of miss her - I miss Madonna as she was and as she could be now. I wish I could see her determined, handsome, wry face in its natural gorgeousness. I wish we could actually see her.

The zeitgeist is raging through her, living through her body. And it is a weird sight.

Yea, this is how I feel.

Apart from anything else, when I was a kid Madonna was The Coolest Person on the Planet. She just was. There were 3 properly famous people to me back then: Madonna, Michael Jackson and Prince. MJ and Prince were both men so Madonna was literally the coolest women ever.

I am not a fan but still feel a weird loyalty to her because of who she was at that time. But whenever I see or hear about her now, I just feel a bit sad for her. Partly that's the surgery and pictures but also, it occurred to me a few years ago that I have never heard her speak about being really happy.

Ithinkiwanttobealone · 23/09/2022 08:08

This doesn't surprise me at all, she was never natural (except by today's standards when cosmetic enhancement is very mainstream) and always shocking - she was banned from performing in Ireland for two decades.

I applaud her for genuinely not conforming but her footage gives me a very uncomfortable feeling - Weinstein-esque.

Her face is bizarre looking. If I was matching it only to footage from twenty five years ago i would have guessed she was Sharon stone after her basic instinct era. Ironically Sharon stone looks fabulous and elegant.

rookiemere · 23/09/2022 08:17

I was a huge Madonna fan from right back in the 80s when her first album came out.

What I liked about her was that she was so different from the other female stars of the day, and was genuinely unique. She was never the most beautiful or the best singer, but she had charisma oozing through her.

What's so sad in her latest reincarnation is that she has lost that charisma and uniqueness. She looks like an old Kardashian.

It would have been much more shocking and headline grabbing if she had done nothing to her face.

I worry about the DCs she seems to have amassed. Doesn't seem like a particularly healthy or happy home environment for them.

Tabbouleh · 23/09/2022 08:24

Not comparable in fame or fortune or maybe at all, but I always thought Tracy Chapman was really unique. I prefer that kind of low key singer who does little to herself. Nothing to do with Madonna being young or old. I just like a less branded vibe. Not keen on J-Lo either!

lemmein · 23/09/2022 08:28

I've always found Madonna attractive, but sex-less, which is weird considering how overtly-sexual she is. Just too 'try-hard' - I disagree with posters who say she doesn't give a fuck, I think she cares deeply, and that's the problem.

All that money and success means fuck all if your brain isn't on your side.

WeAreTheHeroes · 23/09/2022 08:30

She looks markedly different from 2015 when one of the dancers pulled her backwards off the Brits stage. She no longer looks like a real person and I would have thought she was the one person who wouldn't go down this kind of fillers, surgery and filters rabbit hole.

No one needs to do this to themselves and they shouldn't feel they have to.

Cigarettesaftersex1 · 23/09/2022 08:41

I just think it's very, very sad, she didn't need to resort to behaviour like this, she gets more shocking as she gets older. She'll no longer be remembered for her great voice and music but for her embarrassing and attention seeking antics

OldTinHat · 23/09/2022 08:50

Good lord! I've just looked - horrifying!

Teenyliving · 23/09/2022 08:51

How would one compare her approach to aging to say The Rolling Stones?

Don't bring her kids in to it
Her 2 older ones seem well adjusted, considering their mother is Madonna.

SurfBox · 23/09/2022 09:03

She does look great, but it's a bit odd when you know she's 64. I mean, she looked wonderful for her age before, but now she looks like a different person

she looked like a different person for years though and not in a good way. She was on that britney spears documentary years ago and nobody recognised her as she'd totally overdone it with surgery etc.
