Madonna… wtf??

Madonnas Instagram just popped up on my feed.

erm.

is it genuine? She has had so much work done that she looks about 25 - in the pics - I imagine in real life it looks kinda weird.

and it all seems to be some kind of weird porn inspired vibe - but in a very clunky and unsubtle way.

I am genuinely shocked. I haven’t really seen anything of her for quite a while.

is this a surprise to anyone else or have I been totally out of the loop??

The new music video hasn't done her any favours.

I think she has lost it in a delusional time warp.

Unfortunately her DC will be brought into discussions given their young impressionable age and how she adopted them.

I don't think it is fair to say it is her own business when young lives are involved.

How would one compare her approach to aging to say The Rolling Stones?

Men are allowed to get old and Mick Jagger is a prick.

Dreamstate · 23/09/2022 09:15

I saw an non aribrushed unfiltered picture and its just strange seeing a 'fresh younger' looking face and then her arms and hands are what anyone at 60 has. It was totally bizarre like someone had taken two pics and stuck someones head on an older body

SparkyBlue · 23/09/2022 09:15

@Ithinkiwanttobealone she was never banned from performing in Ireland. Wasn't the issue that we didn't have a venue big enough. I remember it being discussed on the radio once . The Sex book was banned for a bit I think

InsomniacVampire · 23/09/2022 09:24

I saw an interview with her a few years ago and Im sure she was on a lot of drugs (prescription), she seemed totally in a different place and it was hard to follow her rambling. I think the yars of wild life and touring just take their toll, and all the surgeries and procedures she went through. I remember Andre Agassi said how manysports people cant get out of bed without a few paracetamols because of the chronic pain, and for many performers it is probably the same.

@AtrociousCircumstance "What can’t be denied is that however playful or daring or defiant she may be with her current incarnation, the boot-mark of the patriarchy is heavy on her face" sums it up very well.

I agree and it's so sad, the desperation to stay young and beautiful or you're no longer of any use. And the desperation is so clear that it's uncomfortable IMO. I agree with the pp who said she seems to be filling and or filtering herself to try to look like her daughter.

She should have had naturally good/less wrinkled skin as I read (if true) that she was obsessed about staying out of the sun and she had a great shaped face. I'd love to have seen her with long messy silver hair, big sunglasses snogging aging rockers and with something to say - ie that women can still want and enjoy sex in their 60's. I'd have loved that photo of her sticking half out from under the bed to be ironic about the invisibility of older women as sexual people. I'd like to see fun sexual pics with her clearly being her age. Anyway as a child of the 80's that is where I would have liked to have seen her go.

theworldhas · 23/09/2022 09:26

Could be a glimpse of the future, where people use different cell regeneration techniques and also of course plastic surgery to “freeze” ageing.

I guess when people start living till 150, it will kind of sucks to only look at your physical peak for 20 years or so. So people will embrace this stuff the more it comes available.

I know that copies in bookshops were all plastic sealed and they were not allowed to have open ones on display.

I also agree. That would be empowering and a role model for all
instrsd she looks and sounds like a deranged self obsessed bore

Icanstillrecallourlastsummer · 23/09/2022 09:42

I feel sad for her. She's spent her entire life selling her looks (and being valued for them), and now is struggling to let it go so having lots of work and posting filtered photos. It can't be fun to be dealing with your own aging so badly.

Baxdream · 23/09/2022 09:46

I saw her at a BBC festival in about 2008. She looked a bit of a mess then. It's sad really as aging is a gift. I know it's hard to accept (I'm in my 40s) but growing old gracefully is important.
The pictures of her are so heavily filtered

Nobody says anything about Cher or Tina Turner getting plastic surgery.

Its just another stick to beat Madonna with.

you sure - Cher is ripped to shit about her plastic work and has been for years

MarigoldMoonStone · 23/09/2022 09:58

I saw a video of her hugging someone recently and she looked like a plastic robot. I’m sure she would of still been naturally beautiful if she had just embraced ageing, it’s such a shame she felt the need to have so much work.

pfs · 23/09/2022 10:01

Exacty Cher is constantly ripped at for her surgery, as for Tina Turner she is much less in the public eye for years now than Cher or Madonna so that's why you rarely hear of her surgery.

LovelyChicken · 23/09/2022 10:12

I loved her in the 80s and a bit of the 90s. Not the best at anything really, but she had something about her.
Madonna has released some fantastic pop songs and done some incredible live shows. I wish she'd do an album with Patrick Leonard and Steve Bray.
I also wish she had aged without surgery - I thought she had a lovely face and would have liked to see her embrace ageing.

KangFang · 23/09/2022 10:13

She uses plastic surgery, filters, botox etc.

She couldn't be more over.
She had a fantastic run in the 80s, 90s and 2000s, despite having scanty talent.
She is over.

I reckon she could still pack out the Albert Hall.

She's the queen of reinvention. She could try any image and if it doesn't work, she can try something else.

Personally I think she should stick mostly with the writing now. Plenty of ghosties around who'd be very happy to work with her. Or release a line of some kind of product. Perfume is very 2008 but she could maybe do jewellery or something.

greenhousegal · 23/09/2022 10:26

When people say they love her, I suppose it's her stage presence and artistry they love because they just do NOT and never will know the person.

Reminds me of the fawning over the RF and how some people think X or Y in that clan is "lovely". No one knows them either.

I don't care what Madonna does, it's her life and her money. I can choose to ignore her which I do, in addition to all "celebrities", many of whom are vacant narcissists anyway.

ShinyS1 · 23/09/2022 10:41

I kind of get that she's making a point, your life doesn't have to include a twin set and slippers once you hit 60, and she was never going to grow old gracefully.

Holy shit though, why use filters when people will always find RL comparison photos. The work she's had done has not improved her look, like many have said, she looks like a bloated alien. The bum implants! (not just her, anyone with bum implants really). She could have looked her age, but so good, she had great bone structure.

Also, there's no getting away from her advancing years, and the fact that age, for most is difficult to present as youthful and sexy. Before anyone jumps down my throat, yes I know people past 65 can fall in love, dress beautifully, have wild sex etc, and basically live their lives privately however they wish, fair play to them.

Madonna tries hard to be sexually attractive, always has, but shoving your tongue in a 24 year olds mouth, legs akimbo, barely dressed etc and then publicly publishing pics filtered to the max, is grim, just creepy. Does anyone think Hugh Hefner was a sex god at 64, surrounded by 20 somethings?

But anyway, her life, her choices I suppose.

Yes, when I said I love her, I obviously meant that as I don't know what she's like in RL, she could be awful for all I know.

Reminds me of the fawning over the RF and how some people think X or Y in that clan is "lovely". No one knows them either.
It's more the fact there's a thread full of picking her apart for her looks and how she doesn't dress or act like you're "supposed to" 🙄 in your 60s that's ugh

caroleanboneparte · 23/09/2022 10:47

She doesn't look young. She looks like that Wilderstein woman.

It's horrible that even a rich successful woman like her has to submit to pornofied beauty standards.

If she doesn't have the strength or freedom to be herself what hope is there for the rest of us??

ReneBumsWombats · 23/09/2022 10:50

Does anyone think Hugh Hefner was a sex god at 64, surrounded by 20 somethings?

He was roundly celebrated for doing exactly that, well into his 70s. The Playboy mansion parties were packed out, he had VIP areas roped off in his favourite clubs and was seem as iconic for living with seven 20-something Fembot clones. After he pared them down to three, he got a reality show that presented the setup as fun, cartoony and family friendly. It was a roaring success. He and a load of bunnies featured in a music video by Nelly and Justin Timberlake, who were very hot property at the time.

It hit the decline after a while but when he died he was still considered an icon and far from being laughed at for surrounding himself with Fembots and marrying another 20-something at circa 80.

He was also an abusive knob.

I take your point, but I meant does anybody on this thread think Hugh was a sex god.

Madonna is still well loved, and still works/releases music and has millions of fans. When Madonna dies she will be considered an icon too. Hugh Hefner will have as many critics as Madonna does.

There is a difference in the acceptance of how they live/lived their lives, i'll conceed. Maybe it's to do with how they presented themselves, their sexuality? Dunno.
