Impossible task: help identifying a song with almost no clues

Hello,

My wife is driving herself crazy trying to remember a particular song that she used to play to my son a couple of years ago. There are almost no clues to go on and it feels a little futile, but perhaps worth a try...

  • Relatively modern - post 2000
  • An acoustic song
  • By a male artist - someone who's more known for a different type of music - she says 'electronic music' - but this particular song is certainly acoustic
  • Song is featuring another male singer. Perhaps not a duet, but certainly two of them involved
  • The song is about friendship - old friends etc. May or may not mention friends / friendship in the title
  • This is almost certainly a red herring, but she has a feeling the artist's name may be 'Paul' something

If you think the above list is vague, just be glad you're not able to to hear the three notes of the melody that she's able to remember, and is humming repeatedly. Over... and over... and over....

Any suggestions that may save our sanity are welcome. Inevitably when she remembers the song the above clues will all turn out to be incorrect - it'll be a song from the 70s by a female solo singer or something. Apologies in advance for utterly wasting your time, but do please help if you can...

Thanks!

90s not post 2000s and a band not a solo artist but Red Hot Chili Peppers - My Friends?

Paul Woodford and Diplo - looking for me. There’s an acoustic version of this on YouTube with a still image.

This isn’t acoustic but when you say your child had a particular dance to it, that means surely it has to have a strong, distinctive beat that they recognise.

Could it be Justice Vs Simian, ‘We are your friends’ ?

I would call it more electro/house.

It has an electo wiggle sound and an 80’s style clap drum sound. Nasal, gravelly, melodic style vocals (actually French) but sung/hollered in English.

Could be termed a house anthem.
It’s a total earworm.

But it’s old now, unless it’s used on a game/film/advert recently.

Lyrics are “Because we.are. your. friends, you’ll never be alone again.
Well, come on,
come on, come on,
come o-n-n-n-n”

Can’t think of any others that haven’t already been mentioned.

Thought of another possibility… No new friends acoustic version - LSD ft labrinth

@Vaccineerror As for the app - if you could hear her humming these three notes, and see her trying to hum them into her phone, you'd know this was never going to work. Trying very hard not to laugh at her attempts.

If the humming apps are no good, could she hum the notes using this site and then you can send us the link the recording? vocaroo.com/
