I have no interest in watching the funeral. Going to cook breakfast for DS and ho over to my mum's (2 buses). I will enjoy the empty buses and quiet streets with a walk through the city centre on the way there. Just trying to find out if anywhere will be open for a takeaway coffee.
Anyone else ?

Most independent restaurants/cafes round here are open - so off to meet friends and kids in the park and then Turkish restaurant for lunch.

Will catch up on Frozen Planet 2 in the evening

Will watch the actual funeral service from 11-12 and probably moan about the choice of music (I'm a church chorister so have my favourite and least favourite composers). Then have a roast beef lunch and go for a nice long walk with DH and the dogs I think. Cooking cakes in the evening for our vicars leaving do on Tuesday.

I'm on holiday in the Scottish highlands.
Brought food in case nothing was open tomorrow, but the hotel near me is open so I've booked a meal at their restaurant for tomorrow evening.

I figure the Queen loved Scotland so I'll spare a thought for her while the funeral is on and I'm enjoying the scenery.

Can’t go out. Bed bound.

If I could, I would take kids to the park. So I’m gonna carry on binge watching supernatural

I have no idea. I work in the NHS admin, they gave us the day off.

Might go park but everything is shut

Taking DC for a walk and playdate in the morning, may watch a bit of the funeral. Chilled afternoon. Anyone feel it's a bit of a Christmas day vibe, all talk of nice dinners, long walks etc...but without the fun bits obviously and for a much sadder reason...

I've booked an appointment to get a top altered at 11am. Was pleasantly surprised to see they were going to be open. I'm from London so don't expect streets or buses to be empty, but its only a 15 min drive for me. Then i'm gonna go home and have a glass of Prosecco and enjoy the fact that DH is home and can help with DD

It's my uncle's 70th birthday! So we'll be having a family gathering to celebrate (not till the afternoon though).

Bit of housework in the morning. Then will try and watch the main bit of the funeral for you know history and that but will probably struggle to pay attention tbh. Then just wait eagerly for my children to come home and snuggle them as much as possible before bed time.

Yes, we're going out. I'm really hoping the countryside is quiet and a pub is open.

Same here.

I'll be working and so paying a tiny bit of tax towards paying off this whole fucking fiasco.

I'm working a couple of hours in the morning then I'm going for a nice long walk in the countryside where it should be nice and quiet.

Why wouldnt you go out....if you were a catholic like me living in belfast in the early 70s then this pile of shit would mean nothing....and if you never lived in belfast then dont dare comnent without proper knowledge

Did you make a proper snarly face while typing that out? Hmm

the OP is just making conversation on this unique type bank holiday. You can always just scroll down if it's not to your feelz

I'll be going to 10am Mass and then back in time to watch the funeral. My DH intends to go out for a long bike ride so I'll have the house to myself which suits me just fine!

We are walking the dogs, dc probably play out while dh and I watch the funeral in-between housework and washing. Roast for tea.

We've been staying with family this weekend (relative's birthday party), so will be driving home tomorrow - hopefully the roads will be quiet if we go during the funeral! And once we're back we are collecting two kittens - so in the afternoon we'll just be settling them in 😍

Won't be watching the funeral (will be glad when sanity returns to the UK), if it's sunny I'll be in the garden reading, if not a nice day I'll be inside doing some housework as I've neglected it.

What a great idea, think I’ll do the same.
The main event kicks off at 11 - I think - so I’m planning on going for a long dog walk around then. DH says he wants to watch all the pomp, which is fine but I’ve had quite enough of it all now.

I also have to admit to having muted quite a few friends on FB for 30 days as it’s just wall to wall emotion and slightly confrontational posts about those who don’t buy into or are not showing appropriate respect! I don’t really want to fall out with people over the queen!

Having a roast and wine with extended family as it’s an unexpected day off with not much open.

Probably a game of cards too and plenty of gin.

I think the pubs will do quite well out of it. I mentioned this on another thread - a pub local to me is doing fancy dress, karaoke and open the box!!

DC1 thinks it’s disgusting the money that has been spent and is refusing to watch!

I'm with your DC1.

I agree. Obscene amount of money. Your DC1 isn't wrong.
