Tradesperson inviting people into my home

IvyPlant · 17/09/2022 17:03

Currently got a tradesperson in to do a job. They quoted me a day rate of 8 days work (which I think will take less time than that, but they're the expert...)

Anyway, that's not my AIBU. I checked my security footage this week and noticed a woman popped round to my house when I was out and tradesperson was working alone in my house. I can only see her walk past my front door to the back garden gate, she knocks and then the feed ends. She's seen leaving 4 hours later. The next day, same thing, except 3 hours.

At present the tradesperson gets here for about 8am and has already stopped working by 3pm. So that's 7 hours of work, fair enough, but 4 (and 3) of them an unknown woman here is (it's not his wife, I did a little social media digging and it's not her).

AIBU if I question him about it next week? He still has 4 days left to finish the job next week and I don't l like the fact there's an unknown and univited person in my house when I'm not there, plus, how much work can he really be doing if his "mate" is there for 4 hours.

Hey Ivy, I'm as interested as the next person in how this resolves, but I just want to encourage you to look after yourself in this process.
Ignore the posters hassling you.
Get outside in the fresh air, eat some vegetables, take 3 deep breaths, practice some good sleep hygiene... you know the score.

ViviPru · 20/09/2022 10:30

I wouldn't worry about the mirror article. It's been buried under reams of drivel about Bear Grylls daring to smile and Phil and Holly's protestations of queue jumping innocence.

If the salacious spark and his ladyfriend are heedless enough to inspect each others consumer units in his client's house while he's supposed to be working then they're probably too preoccupied to notice a non-article on post 247 of the mirror's facebook feed...

Absolutely following.

People nagging the OP to update or clogging the thread up with "Place marking!" come across as selfish and uncaring.

That's so true. I have no need to place mark because I did it yesterday but like you didn't use the words "!place" and "marking". I just wanted to comment on your own place-marking post.

NotAHouse · 20/09/2022 11:15

Good luck today.

I think most advice that can be given has been given - Until we hear back from the OP about what she discovers today when further advice may be asked for, one way of making sure you get an update and don't lose the thread, is simply to make a comment on the thread. So I have to disagree with you

I keep misreading this thread title as:

"transpeople inviting people into my home" 😂

PinkSnowAndStars · 20/09/2022 11:37

I hope he’s up to something now you’ve got the cameras 😁

yeah I’m just here for an update too!

Benefi · 20/09/2022 11:44

Even easier, and less "me, me, me", is to use the bookmarking feature.

Mxyzptlk · 20/09/2022 11:57

Or add it to your 'Watch this thread' list.

autyspauty · 20/09/2022 12:19

You could always try clicking on the “watch thread” button

ehb102 · 20/09/2022 14:16

Can you watch a thread without replying?

Ivy, I hope you can stay chill about all this.

Yes as @Whiskeypowers said you just click the watch this thread icon.

milkyaqua · 20/09/2022 14:21

Can you watch a thread without replying?

Yes! Just click on the purple "WATCH THREAD" button.

You can also bookmark the last post you read to take you back there when you click on the thread in your watched threads list.

You can also press see all on the OP's post and see the latest update by scrolling to the last post they have made.

All of this removes the need for placemarking.

There will be a lot of Electricians wives over the country who are now wondering if their Sparky husband isn't ^""the one...""

@Benefi genuine question here - do you know how to find bookmarked comments in the future? I use mobile browser mostly (and sometimes the app) but I’ve clicked bookmark on some comments, but I’m buggered if I can find a way to get back to those comments again! I’m wondering if I need to be on a pc to do it, or if I’m missing something blazingly obvious, but you’re the first person I’ve seen specifically mention using the feature so I’m kinda hoping you know the answer!

Thanks in advance.

I don’t have the “watch thread” button you’ve shown in the screenshot! What are you accessing the site through please? And where specifically do you find that button?

Thanks @TinyTear
