To think Prince Harry should now do whatever it takes to cancel his book contract?

And withdraw his book?

A rapprochement looks possible if he meets the RF halfway.

Harry has wanted to leave the RF for years and has expressed disatisfaction for years, long before he ever met Meghan, then when he did reach a stage of wanting to get married, have children, etc it motivated him to get the fuck out.

Good for him, more people should opt out of toxic situations that are damaging their health and the world would probably be a happier place for it.

DysonSphere · 16/09/2022 22:53

I abhor the behaviour of H&M. M behaviour in particular I find (if even half true) lacking in all conscientious and sincerity and frankly think she may really have a personality disorder

That said:

I do think the RF have to be pragmatic and meet H&M halfway at least.

What meg wants and expects is completely transparent. She wants A lister American fame. She doesn't want the arguably greater and more refined fame of simply being a British Royal.

She wants to trade on their royal status. And build an empire on it. If not her then through her children's royal titles and standing.

They both want to live in the manner they've became accustomed to.

In order to take the heat out of the fire and kill the book which is a revenue spinner, and shut down further embarrassing revelations, the Royal family should give them a large chunk of what they want.

Make Archie and Lilli HRH at least.

Loosen up restrictions on merching their status. Give them roles to play

Give them some armed security when they come to the UK. Stop quibbling on small stuff. Tell the media to back off them a bit. Be a dysfunctional family that works because it has to, like other unfortunate people up and down the country.

Otherwise I really fear that they will undermine the RF to a huge degree.

Nope give them an inch they take a mile. They want to merch the RF without doing any of the boring stuff. Absolutely no HRH titles for the children they don't live in the UK nor even a commonwealth country. There's no royalty in the US. They are petty and spiteful they will still find something to complain about let him release the book. There's not much more after that he could sell. MM was in the RF for 2 years . They have been frozen out and won't be privvy to new information they are no where near as popular as Diana.

Once he sells the book the interest in them will massively die down they are one trick ponies with very little talent.

I cant believe that anyone could watch that video clip and think anything other than Harry made the decision to leave. Or that Meghan did not face racism in the UK media.

Why would he cancel his book? He wants people to know what it was like for him, growing up in the way he did. We all want to see that as a fairy tale, but it isn't.

He is never going back to the Royal family in an official capacity.

Yawn

Oh all I see is pure manipulation of Harry.. she is a smart woman and knows how to get what she wants

@LooneyToon wow! I think he comes across as very sincere, and I can completely believe the situation was so bad for her at that stage that felt suicidal.

I mean is it just the case that anyone who has serious suicidal thoughts and tells the person they love about it is being manipulative? If she never told him, would that have been better? It sounds like they tried their best to make it work, she couldn’t cope with the media hatred and feeling like a fish out of water and he didn’t get much support from his family. Which is a pretty common thing to happen in families- but that family in particular is pretty famous for having little patience for people struggling with bad mental health. Diana said the same thing happened to her over bulimia.

People are so uninterested that every thread about them on here runs into sequels 🤣

They are by far the most interesting Royals, love them or hate them!

"but that family in particular is pretty famous for having little patience for people struggling with bad mental health. Diana said the same thing happened to her over bulimia."

This. It's not like there is not already a long history of the Royal Family neglecting the mental health and not protecting the women who marry into it.

If it is so boring to you, why do you participate in the conversation?

Teenyliving · 16/09/2022 23:50

If Harry posted on here he would be directed to the Stately Homes thread in about two seconds.

the RF is massively dysfunctional and toxic as a family unit - including the queen.

i can’t see how that has suddenly changed….

StormzyinaTCup · 16/09/2022 23:51

Regarding the claims made by the couple on the Oprah show, it was said Prince Charles wanted to issue a point by point rebuttal but the Queen said no. It will be interesting to see (dependent on what's actually in the book) whether he would do this now the Queen is no longer the monarch.

His mother who also wrote a tell-all book dishing the dirt on her marriage? The one who almost brought the monarchy down in the 90s?

Funny you should say that, I remember saying way way back that I wouldn't be surprised if that was PH aim, he has a lot of anger which seems to be directed at his father. I expect the reasons for his anger will be in the book but they will be his version so it's quite possible Charles will indeed feel he has to issue a rebuttal.

It could get messy for all concerned if PH is insistent on playing all his issues out so publicly and it's certainly not something a therapist would recommend doing. The media will think all their Christmases have come at once.

What grievances do they left to air after the book comes out? They left the RF 2 years ago and have been frozen out. They aren't privy to private information anymore unless they bullshit. They are going to run out of things to complain about and stories to sell.

HRTQueen · 16/09/2022 23:52

who can blame him for wanting to leave to protect his wife and family. He knows better than anyone the misery our press creates for some

most have leaked stories to the press or staff have this has always been known they live in a goldfish bowl Its needed to keep the public support

at least there is more transparency around this book good luck to him. The family are probably in far more contact with each other than certain areas of the press would like us to believe families fall out at times just the fall outs will always be public for the most senior of royals

SandyY2K · 16/09/2022 23:58

He's got every right to publish this book and I don't see why he shouldn't just because his grandmother has passed away.

I totally see his perspective and have listened to a few of his interviews, which then get twisted.

He can't win whatever he does with a lot of the British public, so he might as well do as he wants.

bloodyplanes · 16/09/2022 23:59

Grandeur · 16/09/2022 22:16

YABU. I doubt a rapprochement is possible because I don't think Meghan will ever be accepted into that family, and that's what the problem has always been.

Really? She was given more privileges than any other royal fiancée ever has been before! She was walked down the Aisle by the future king!! If that's not acceptance I don't know what is!!!

I'm presuming there is a bigger strategy involved than we know ?, Let's be honest the elites, usually have various strategies and plans etc

That’s exactly it.

I’d have huge admiration for him if he actually fully left the RF, removed himself from the line of succession, rejected titles for him and his children, lived his life.
He’s never ever going to do that though. He will continue complaining about the RF whilst hanging onto the coattails.
I can’t imagine what new complains he has in his book though. We all know it’s shit and we wouldn’t want to be a member of that family, but he is perpetuating it by keeping his children linked to it. If his children take Prince/princess titles then they are just full of shit.

Just because he has a right to do it, doesn’t make it a good idea.

I want suggesting the Queen’s death was particularly relevant to the decision, per se. More that there seems to have been a slight truce during the mourning period that could now be capitalised on.

I am confused about that. At one point they seemed to be saying they didn’t want their children to have titles. Did I imagine that part?

JubileeTrifle · 17/09/2022 00:07

I think they did. Whether they will or not is another thing. This would be the prime time for him to stop being Prince also, I doubt that’s going to happen though.

I agree with @Meili04 , what else will they have to complain about once the book comes out, they won't have any new material on the RF living thousands of miles away in California. Perhaps it might prove cathartic and they can move on to meaningful projects and really make a life for themselves in the US.

I hope so, the speculation on the rift is getting tedious now.

Celia24 · 17/09/2022 00:10

No? He can speak out if he likes. I know we're all meant to stay muzzled and not say what we really think (evidenced by the arrested hecklers) but he's written a book and clearly intends to.

He is paying respects to his grandmother, that's all.

Christ Almighty no - one is denying she's Black! But really, so bloody what! Big deal!

Are you suggesting any black person is not to be critiqued because they are black?

If I say l find MM to be a lying self indulgent narcissistic piece of work married to an immature narcissistic self indulgent twat - am I then a racist?

Fuck that. Nelson Mandela was a great man. Robert Mugabe was an utter cunt. They had nothing in common apart from the colour of their skin
So nothing worth noting.

👏👏👏

bloodyplanes · 17/09/2022 00:11

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 16/09/2022 23:23

MM comes across as inconsistent and fake to me. Nothing to do with colour, all to do with the contradictions.

Engagement interview - used to working on high profile public causes, eager to hit the ground running, excited to be a CW Ambassador

SA Interview -* *No idea what she was getting into, what was expected, no one asked if she's OK, is supposedly a champion of the experiences of disadvantaged women -- whilst complaining about the hardship of her life after visiting a women's self defense course and the site of a young woman's murder.

During time as a working royal - Visited a school and received letters re BH month (Pictures of the replies)

In California Zoom - Did not know UK had BH month

Racism is awful - Never acknowledges her DH's racist behaviour in the past.

Feminist - Continues to cling to using a title that is status bestowed entirely because of the man she married.

Absolutely spot on

They’ve been out for two years. After the book they’ll have nothing else to say we haven’t already heard, and hopefully will fade away….
