To be impressed that Holly and Phil queued to see the Queen

I saw on the news today that they both paid their respects. I know MPs got tickets to jump the queue which is fair enough given how busy they are running the country, but obviously run of the mills celebrities don't get that sort of treatment. We haven't seen many celebrities actually pay tribute given they wouldn't want to queue so long, so I was quite touched to see the picture of them walking through. True British gems.

Can’t wait for Tuesday’s This Morning they’ll be how humbling it was to see the coffin, how much it meant to them both - for 2 hours - and the Royal commentator Camilla, will be on to bring them back down to earth

Bluevelvetsofa · 17/09/2022 13:17

I thought that Holly reading out the letters of condolence her children wrote was self indulgent in the extreme. There will have been plenty of children who did the same.

It really is time they were out out to pasture.

They're so arrogant that they will never mention their stupid behaviour. I can watch any old shite on telly but I immediately switch them off.

I don't know what's funnier, you thinking they'd queue up with all the little people or you thinking it's fair enough that MP's got a 'fast track' ticket! They should have had to queue as well their time isn't any more valuable than the next person....... would have been good to see which of them would queue.

And don't forget MP’s families, including parents and inlaws who also don't have to queue with the rest of us, because they also have special passess

mydogisthebest · 17/09/2022 11:31

They didn't queue because they both think they are far too important to queue. Stupid prats

Weren't they working?

PerfectlyPreservedQuagaarWarrior · 17/09/2022 15:53

Inequitable access to the lying in state feels quite fitting, to be honest.

I agree with this. The monarchy is all about stark inequality, so the lying in state should be as well.
I would have had fast track queues that you had to pay for with the money going to charity.

WimbyAce · 17/09/2022 16:06

I am guessing they will give some kind of explanation as there has been a huge backlash against them.

PinkiOcelot · 17/09/2022 16:17

They didn’t queue though, did they?!!

vera99 · 17/09/2022 16:17

Jacob Rees-Mogg and his numerous Latin-named sprogs all got to fast-track themselves into little criticism. The pile onto H&P seems to be a tad overwrought, to say the least, and if they didn't say they had been in the virtuous, holy of holies, now wafting to heaven on angel's wings, The People's Queue (peace and blessings be upon it) then what exactly is the problem ?

Some of these tricoteurs would have been the same demanding when Saint Diana was cruelly taken from us "TAKE DOWN THE FLAG - YOUR MAJESTY".

To be impressed that Holly and Phil queued to see the Queen

I think we're about 48 hour away from the queue becoming a new life form in itself, so fuck knows what'll happen then.

A conga line to Wembley is my guess, though the O2 is closer.

Attictroll · 17/09/2022 16:20

I thought even they acknowledged that they went in via itv...it's their jobs.

MeridianB · 17/09/2022 16:21

@vera99 JRM is an MP and they all had fast track. The outcry over Holly and Philip is totally justified as they couldn’t be bothered to queue and passed themselves off as journalists.

vera99 · 17/09/2022 16:25

Well, most reporters of the Sun pass themselves off as journalists. I have no time for either of them but in the modern era they talking shite on a sofa passes for journalism and if they haven't said they were queuing in The People's Queue then why such hatred ? It's all bonkers anyway.

Almost worth breaking the habit of a lifetime to see them squirm themselves inside out.

In reality? They’ll style it out and not mention it because they think they are above it all.

They will probably just claim they were the angels who sung her to her rest.

vera99 · 17/09/2022 16:28

I'll hazard a guess that in Brand Beckham PR terms his 12 hours is probably worth a cool million. Not saying that was his motivation but probably the fortuitous outcome all the same.

TheShadowLine · 17/09/2022 16:39

I do think David Beckham was genuine in wishing to pay his respects.

The grin twins? Not so much.

Thegreymethod · 17/09/2022 17:28

@KingstonLane well obviously!! Arseholes

I could imagine PS doing a Bruce Ismay when the Titanic went down.

Beckham standing resolutely on the deck whilst the band played on.

This was so funny 😂 love that film. I can imagine him being like the sailor who refused to go back on the boat for other people.

sendkitchen · 17/09/2022 18:30

I for one would definitely queue for hours to catch a glimpse of Holly and Phil 's coffins. I hope they'd do the same for me!

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 17/09/2022 18:38

😂

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 17/09/2022 18:41

Sorry. Sorry.

I’ve posted on this under another name.

The sentiment isn’t different though so no sock puppetry to see here. 😳

Picoloangel · 17/09/2022 20:18

If she did have Covid then she shouldn’t have been there. I know there’s no legal requirement to isolate now but it’s very irresponsible to go to such a crowded area if you have Covid.

Spidey66 · 17/09/2022 20:22

I'm more impressed by David Beckham, who turned down VIP access ro remain with everyone else, then bought them donuts.

Vitriolinsanity · 17/09/2022 20:50

If I thought I'd be standing next to David Beckham, with bloody doughnuts too, I'd have been in that queue like a rat up a drainpipe.

Me and Dave would've definitely been friends for life!
