Campervan parked in front of my garage

I own a garage that's on the next side street to where I live. We don't put our cars in it because it's used to store things. My husband's things mostly. Our aim is to clear it out so we can put one of our cars in it. My husband sometimes puts his car in front of the garage. Anyway there is an absolutely enormous campervan parked in front of our garage. Its parked so close up to the garage doors that we couldn't go in the garage at all. And obviously prevents us from parking in front of it. They tried to park there on Monday but my husband stopped them. No idea who they are but my husband works nights so not here.

Have it towed. Easy.

CatsandFish · 16/09/2022 09:05

Tell them if they do it again you will have it forcibly removed by a tow truck and they will have to pay to get it back. Also that you will call the police.

CatsandFish · 16/09/2022 09:07

Forgot to say that having access to your house or garage is important for safety reasons (for example; like if something like a gas cannister or something flammable blew in the garage, you and emergency services need to be able to access it to put it out), so you have every right to have it forcibly removed at their expense.

I’m guessing they’re not completely stupid so will already know that it can’t just be towed and that the police won’t be interested as it’s nothing to do with them.

Yes it can be towed. How else do you think those companies that tow away illegal vehicles and/or put wheel locks on, do it?

This is about safety and safe access to premises, so of course the police will be interested. I'm guessing the OP is not completely stupid that they will fall for someone trying to discourage the OP from taking action.

Bunnyfuller · 16/09/2022 13:48

No, police will NOT be interested, as they’re quite busy, investigating crimes. This isn’t a criminal offence. It’s nothing in law, actually. You can’t block a vehicle’s access to the public highway, but you can lock access to a drive/garage.

OP, FGS if you think it’s the neighbours just go and ask.

and @DaSilvaP do you actually think people saying torch it etc are serious. Bloody hell, sense of humour failure.

Do you have a dog or know anyone who would bag some dogshit up for you. I think a nice dirty protest would help convince whoever is doing it not to come back. Door handles and vents should be enough.....

Make sure there are no Ring doorbells about

But if they don't move it then not only do you still have access to your garage blocked, but you also have a vehicle covered in stinking dogshit.

Some on this thread won't like this one but, oh well....

If someone should pinch a parking place, or acts like a douchbag parking over two places etc, then they should always tread or look carefully when returning to their car. It is possible that someone may have left chewed gum at the spot they will need to step on to re-enter the car, or it may be stuck underneath their door handle.

It can’t be towed without going through the appropriate legal process. Those companies can’t just tow a car on private land and they’re certainly not clamping anyone!

OP, any update? On tenterhooks here! 😆
