Campervan parked in front of my garage

I own a garage that's on the next side street to where I live. We don't put our cars in it because it's used to store things. My husband's things mostly. Our aim is to clear it out so we can put one of our cars in it. My husband sometimes puts his car in front of the garage. Anyway there is an absolutely enormous campervan parked in front of our garage. Its parked so close up to the garage doors that we couldn't go in the garage at all. And obviously prevents us from parking in front of it. They tried to park there on Monday but my husband stopped them. No idea who they are but my husband works nights so not here.

Throw a load of birdseed all over it. 😁

Princessglittery · 14/09/2022 21:15

Provided you own the freehold of the drive in front of the garage as pp said install a bollard.

Just Google parking bollard and there are loads.

GuerlainHo · 14/09/2022 21:16

Chuck battery acid over it and watch the paint melt away 😈

My husband told her to move it on Monday. He doesn't know she is. She argued with him but did move it. Now its back again!

So when your DH quite reasonably told her to move her behemoth van , what was her arguement to keep it in situ ?
Just trying to work out how unreasonable a CF she is Wink

AdoraBell · 14/09/2022 21:17

I would accidentally trip while trying to paint stripper in the garage.

Nomoreminecraftplease · 14/09/2022 21:17

OK this is a major update. I am truly not intending to dripfeed. I work days my husband works nights and today as I didn't get home until 630 and he left at 7pm we were like ships that pass in the night and hadn't spoken to each other at all. I didn't know anything. Its a transit van. My husband has just phoned me as he does every night and I've just spoken to him about it. He says it's a different van that he moved on the other day. He says he's pretty sure its our next door neighbours. I asked him how he knows and he said he saw him driving it earlier. As its late he's said he'll have a word with him tomorrow

Insert a parking bollard and a sign that says no parking private land 24 access required

AdoraBell · 14/09/2022 21:17

put paint stripper into the garage 🤦‍♀️

KosherDill · 14/09/2022 21:19

Do you have any idea who owns it, or where the owner is staying?

If there is a local Facebook page, can you post of a photo of the van and ask if anyone knows the owner, as they are parked on your property and you need to enter the garage?

What exactly did the woman say to your DH? I'm hard pressed to think of a retort to "Hello, this is my property, you cannot park your van there." What argument did she present? Or did she just tell him to F off and walk away?

Please keep us updated; this kind of thing raises my blood pressure and I need to know the outcome!

It'd be a shame if you swung the garage door opening without realising it would hit the camper van....

I did that once.

Purely by accident. Four times. Except the car in question was blocking my open garage, and they could clearly see there was a car they were blocking in. In my defence, I did not see them, because entered the garage from the other side and I just hit the button to close it.

JemimaPiddleDick · 14/09/2022 21:20

Be a shame if some local kids parked their bikes against it and the paintwork got scratched

youarntaguest · 14/09/2022 21:24

Scratch it

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 14/09/2022 21:28

I’m loving the solutions people are coming up with!

PeekabooAtTheZoo · 14/09/2022 21:29

There’s a website where people mark on a map places for ‘vanlifers’ (campervan trippers) to park for free. There are also websites where you can rent out your parking space to people for cash. Is it possible your neighbour has done something like these with your spot? Because two CFs in one day makes me wonder, especially with one being the neighbour.
Also this is a parking thread. You know the rules OP. Diagram required. 😁

Not on the road. Yes a driveway but not attached to my house on the next street

I think I know the set up op. I live very close to a seaside town which is inundated with camper vans. There are flats facing the sea on Xxxx Road with garages in yyyyy Road.each garage has drive and a BIG notice on each door: Private. No Parking. Anyone who does and doesn’t live in the flats gets told to move sharpish.

rwalker · 14/09/2022 21:40

Get a wheel clamp £20 off eBay leave a note with your number

fairgame84 · 14/09/2022 21:42

YABU to do a parking thread with no diagram.

Aubriella · 14/09/2022 21:43

It's not even late, knock on their door now, inconvenience the blighters!

PuppyMonkey · 14/09/2022 21:47

I was hoping it was going to be like the Lady in the Van for a minute there and she’d end up staying and you’d all end up being good friends in a heartwarming way.

This!

mommatoone · 14/09/2022 21:55

I had this a while ago. Same set up at yours OP. More often than not i use it for storage.
Needed to get into it last month to store some furniture for my sister. Car blocked right in front of it. Knocked on doors etc, couldnt find who it was / no answer etc.
Anyway goes back day after and it belonged to the lady who lived next to garage. Instead of parking it about 2 foot from her house, lazy bitch dumped it outside my garage.
Entitled fuckers some people!

MrsDamonSalvatore · 14/09/2022 21:56

Buy a wheel clamp and put it on, with a message on the windscreen informing them of the release fee!

Round here there'd be a post on the local Facebook group before the handbrake was on!

Makes me roll my eyes, but it's surprisingly effective at shaming people into moving.

Obviously you include the number plate,
and the first 20 posts are people checking if it's got tax and MOT.

Extra points for showing the miniscule gap between vehicle and garage. Preferably with something incongruous for scale. Like a croissant.

Seriously though, is it just parked up or do you think they're sleeping in it?

Ha ha ha love this

chocolateisavegetable · 14/09/2022 22:07

I see that penguin bollards have already been mentioned so I shall merely suggest a rugby team (although in your case, you may need two)

Sausagenbacon · 14/09/2022 22:15

There's a website called youparklikeac*nt which might be useful.
