Campervan parked in front of my garage

I own a garage that's on the next side street to where I live. We don't put our cars in it because it's used to store things. My husband's things mostly. Our aim is to clear it out so we can put one of our cars in it. My husband sometimes puts his car in front of the garage. Anyway there is an absolutely enormous campervan parked in front of our garage. Its parked so close up to the garage doors that we couldn't go in the garage at all. And obviously prevents us from parking in front of it. They tried to park there on Monday but my husband stopped them. No idea who they are but my husband works nights so not here.

Round here there'd be a post on the local Facebook group before the handbrake was on!

Makes me roll my eyes, but it's surprisingly effective at shaming people into moving.

Obviously you include the number plate,
and the first 20 posts are people checking if it's got tax and MOT.

Extra points for showing the miniscule gap between vehicle and garage. Preferably with something incongruous for scale. Like a croissant.

Seriously though, is it just parked up or do you think they're sleeping in it?

You need a penguin bollard. Yanbu.

Not on the road. Yes a driveway but not attached to my house on the next street

Ahh I see. Any way you can block it in when it's parked there? Make it impossible to get the campervan out?

Brechdanjamcaws · 14/09/2022 20:46

Open the garage door into it. Oops just trying to make use of my property and needed to get into garage. You’ve told them to leave once so it’s trespass. Or, can you park your car in front of theirs? No diagram so don’t know but might teach them a lesson when they try to move it!

Hymnulop · 14/09/2022 20:46

Block it in then install a locking bollard for future.

Block it in then install a locking bollard for future.

The only issue here is that they may have parked their camper van for Autumn/Winter and not mind it being blocked in for the next six months!

BlankTimes · 14/09/2022 20:48

Fit a bollard that locks upright but folds flat when you want to use the space.

e.g. like these, but plenty others available

torch it
pop the tyres
scratch “DO NOT PARK HERE” in the windscreen with your key 😈

FixTheBone · 14/09/2022 20:49

It'd be a shame if you swung the garage door opening without realising it would hit the camper van....

vipersnest1 · 14/09/2022 20:49

Block them in if you can - make life as inconvenient for them as it is for you.
If you can't do that, give them notice by attaching a sign they can't miss to move it within 24 hours (and state that they will be responsible for any towing fee), then look into how much it would cost to take it to an unfortunately long distance away, as you've already notified them that it will be towed.

WeepingSomnambulist · 14/09/2022 20:50

Is she staying in the camper? Go and knock on the door and tell her to shift it. Or open your garage door as hard as you can into it.

Please block it in. I think it might belong to my neighbors whose campervan, which usually blocks their own drive, has been mysteriously absent this week.
I prefer my front garden without their van next door.

MissConductUS · 14/09/2022 20:52

It would be a shame if two or three of the tyres mysteriously lost air pressure.

Willbe2under2 · 14/09/2022 20:53

Could you report it as an abandoned vehicle?

Or put a sign on the back... 'free for scrap'

MarmiteCoriander · 14/09/2022 20:54

If its private property and owned by you, then I'd call the police! Or their non emergency line for advice.

Not going to be moved very quickly with flat tyres!

MrsTerryPratchett · 14/09/2022 20:59

You can get very very sticky stickers telling people not to park somewhere. Very sticky. It's worse than towing IMO because it's so much work to remove them.

Buffypaws · 14/09/2022 21:04

I would probably coat the windows in lipstick for a start

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 14/09/2022 21:07

The sticky stickers.

The emergency response vehicles at work were continually blocked by someone who thought our requests not to park there couldn’t possibly apply to him.

Even when the situation was explained to him several times, he still thought he was cock of the walk and entitled. He was sadly just a cock.

Someone made merry with sticky stickers. (Not me sadly) It didn’t happen again.

Dexionmagic · 14/09/2022 21:08

Screw towing eye into your own car (if you haven’t got a towhook) Rope round axle or solid part of camper to your car.

Drag it 4 ft away from door. Unless you’ve a small car and/or its huge it’ll move.

No notes, messages etc. keep on doing it as required.

MeridianB · 14/09/2022 21:09

StridTheKiller · 14/09/2022 20:29

Torch it.

😁😆😁😆😁❤️‍🔥

Trespass is a civil, not criminal offence

GuerlainHo · 14/09/2022 21:14

id push it into the middle of the main road and have the council come and tow it away

pop the tyres and buff the paint out with steel wool 😈
