I'd really like some ideas for something new to read or watch with some element of romance.

Have previously loved:
Elizabeth and Darcy
Jane and Rochester
Harriet Vane and Peter Wimsey
Robin and Strike
Linden and Holder
Mulder and Scully
Margaret Hale and Mr Thornton
Brienne of Tarth and Jaime Lannister

Josh and Donna (The West Wing)

Oh yes. Although, I think Josh and me would be a better pairing. ;)

paisley256 · 12/09/2022 18:17

Rachel and Luke from Rachel's Holiday Marian Keyes.

PutinIsAWarCriminal · 12/09/2022 18:30

Donna and Sam in Mama Mia. I thought Sophie should have dumped mardy Sky though!

RedRec · 12/09/2022 18:35

Niles and Daphne
Ross and Rachel
Jay and Gloria

(American sitcom fan here)

Peter Egan and Penelope Wilton. Their chemistry in Ever Decreasing Circles was magic but rightly so didn't ever happen

So I was thrilled at their pairing in Afterlife ❤

timtam23 · 12/09/2022 18:42

Anne of Green Gables and Gilbert Blythe

elm26 · 12/09/2022 18:45

Pam and Jim from the US Office 🥰

Anne and Captain Wentworth - Love Persuasion!

This is mine, too.

BeautifulWar · 12/09/2022 18:47

Ross.and Demelza (the books not the TV series)

Yes definitely! Love the Poldark books but never got on with either of the TV series.

Not a true romantic pairing, but I love the relationship between Daniel and Gwendolyn in Daniel Deronda.

Zosime · 12/09/2022 18:48

Forget Jamie and Claire. You need to meet Francis Crawford of Lymond and - well, I won't say who. You need to see it unfold over the series.

Walkley18 · 12/09/2022 18:49

Joey and Pacey (Dawson's Creek) and Syndey and Michael (Alias). Loved Moonlighting too when younger, couldn't wait for them to get together.

InsertPunHere · 12/09/2022 19:07

10th Doctor and Rose
Rene Russo and John Travolta in Get Shorty
Scarecrow and Mrs King

exLtEveDallas · 12/09/2022 19:08

Lt Eve Dallas and Rourke (of course!) (JD Robb ‘in death’ series)
Louis and Angel (John Connolly, Charlie Parker series)

Tony and Ziva (NCIS)
Lucifer and Chloe (Lucifer)
Ammenadiel and Linda (Lucifer)
Stark and Pepper Potts (Iron Man/Avengers)
Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter (Capt America/Avengers)

I was then about to say Pacey and Joey! You beat me to it😊

Jean Paget and Joe Harman (Town like Alice - my favourite book)

Ooh yes, excellent choice.
Claudia and Tom in Moon Tiger
Zoey and Charlie in The West Wing
James and Sophie in Appointment in Sarajevo

LadyCatStark · 12/09/2022 19:23

I’m team Edward and Bella I’m not gonna lie. Or team Me and Edward 😂.
Chandler and Monica
Daenerys and Khal Drogo (in the show, it’s not appropriate in the books!)
I’m pretty basic 😂.

XelaM · 12/09/2022 19:28

It HAS to be Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler from Gone With the Wind!!!

Also Prince Andrej Bolkonski and Countess Natasha Rostova from War and Peace although she was only gorgeous when Audrey Hepburn played her in the old War and Peace movie adaptation. She wasn't as lovely in the actual novel 😃

I've seen good things about the Lymond Chronicles but have always been a bit too intimidated to try them.

Thank you. Am going to do a bit of growing of these now.
Have already enjoyed young Cathy and Hareton (usually start the book from where Cathy snr has died...), Dorothea and Will Ladislaw, and Anne and Gilbert!
