The Monday seems sensible, with schools closing. If they closed for the jubilee they'll close for her funeral surely.

So tell people.... the country cannot come to a standstill on Monday!

CrabbitBastard · 09/09/2022 19:53

I want to know if roads will be reopoend the day after as I am in that part of London for work and need to take the car!

DixonD · 09/09/2022 19:51

I read on the news yesterday evening that the day of the funeral WILL be a BH unless it falls on the weekend. As on other BH, employers will decide themselves whether to close or not.

School said today they may have to move stuff around depending on the schedule. They are anticipating closing.

It definitely won't be a "holiday". There may well be an expectation that things close but it won't be called a holiday.

It seems Tesco has withdrawn delivery slots for the weekend and Monday.

I asked Tesco about this on FB and they totally denied it and said the slots were fully booked with customers! - I couldn't get a slot for next Saturday, Sunday or Monday, delivery OR click and collect, I've never had that happen, even during Covid.

I doubt I'll be given the day off. I work in IT in a hospital and unless the outpatient clinics, theatre lists, therapy clinics etc are all reduced to bank holiday/weekend levels, which surely won't happen as we we cannot afford to cancel appointments and admissions, we will need to be at work to provide IT support.

I think all non emergency lists and clinics will be cancelled.

Thesearmsofmine · 09/09/2022 19:55

I could do with knowing as due to go away(in England) on the 19th. Having said that I’m sure it will be announced at the weekend.

QuebecBagnet · 09/09/2022 19:54

It think this and other similar reasons will be why they're moving heaven and earth to have it on day 9 and not day 11 and possibly the reason for the delay.

Of course they will have a BH - when Prince William
and Kate got married we all had a day off. Not to mention the jubilee long weekend.

I think this deserves another, don’t you? This is her final event.

GoingOnce · 09/09/2022 19:25

I thought they'd had this planned for years?

I don’t think they came up with a date in advance!

just absolutely love this thread!!!

School isn't going to close. Why is everyone getting in a tizzy?

Just keep your garage/restaurant or whatever open

My child's school have already confirmed they will close on the day of the funeral.

Prometheus · 09/09/2022 20:00

Does anyone know if hospital appointments will take place as usual if it’s on the Monday? I’ve been called into hospital to get the results of a cancer biopsy and really don’t want the appointment to be delayed 😥

Shamoo · 09/09/2022 20:00

It’s on Monday, they just haven’t said it - but it’s on Monday

Those BHs were planned for though. Entirely different to close the country down at a few days' notice.

So tell people who need to organise childcare whilst they're working?

minidancer · 09/09/2022 20:02

Monday 19th

klipwa · 09/09/2022 20:03

@Prometheus Our trust has indicated various meetings are cancelled but NOT suggested changes to patient care.

ladygindiva · 09/09/2022 20:03

Dp has had an email from his ( London based ) bosses, giving all staff the day off on Monday 19th for queens funeral.

Of course it will be canceled like a bank holiday. They will all be moved. How do you expect people to go to work without childcare. Who will look after their children on short notice?

It seems Tesco has withdrawn delivery slots for the weekend and Monday.

Just checked asda, and they've blocked out Monday 19th but not the weekend.

MorganSeventh · 09/09/2022 20:05

Believeitornot · 09/09/2022 19:47

Setting out a plan isn’t the same until you’ve got specific dates. So they didn’t know which actually day she’d die and what events would already be in place first.

Not knowing the exact day she would die is not the same as catching people off guard though! Presumably the fact that officials would not know the exact day she would die, until she did in fact die is built into the plan and it's flexible enough to accommodate that. Otherwise it's a pretty bad plan.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 09/09/2022 20:06

I’m sure it will be 19th. For some reason, since Covid the form has been to drip feed everything before confirming it.
