I’d just send them in. The bug would circulate. Others would get Ill. They’d then worry about childcare too.

😂😂😂 your funny.

Yep you definitely don’t have DCs.

What do you suggest instead? What with me not being entitled to childcare and all?

PenguinMan · 09/09/2022 23:31

@Pumperthepumper What union are you with?

I don’t want to say. It’s too outing.

Oh no personal anecdotes? So just random ones about a woman with no influence on your life T all?

I’d just send them in. The bug would circulate. Others would get Ill. They’d then worry about childcare too.

Some great principles you've got going on. Anyway, as this is a thread about a great, long reigning Monarch, I shall not be affording you any more time. Pointless.

So no personal anecdotes.

No advice about childcare.

No great insight about what the Queen added to your life.

I don’t think this thread will miss your time tbh.

MistressIggi · 09/09/2022 23:34

@Pumperthepumper do you work in a private school? Because if it's a state school in Scotland I can guarantee you you're entitled to some paid time for emergency childcare, if you have a permanent job.

I promise you, I’m not.

It depends. There are certain physical functions (sorry) which have to be carried out; they may even need to do a post-mortem.

They will also need to allow for foreign heads of state and other dignitaries to make their way here, as well as the lying in state and other accepted solemnities.

It's not to be rushed through for the sake of our convenience. She only passed away yesterday.

I'm sure they are doing their best.

Fair enough, there’s stuff to do, but a post-mortem? Eh? She died while under medical supervision. There can’t possibly be anything suspicious or unclear about her death can there?

PenguinMan · 09/09/2022 23:39

Lying about being a teacher too now aye.

I’m a teacher and a parent. You’re asking a lot of details for someone who wanted to reign under the broad heading of ‘NHS worker’. You’re out of touch and foolish.

JubileeTissues · 09/09/2022 23:42

"when my Dad died there was a queue for the crematorium - maybe he same problem."

Sorry to hear that but it's really not going to be a case of waiting for a slot at the crem

MistressIggi · 09/09/2022 23:42

You should speak to your union rep then, or consult your HR department. I don't see why your working conditions should be any different to mine if we're both under the same contracts. If you're supply, or private, that's probably different.
I know if you've an unsympathetic HT it can make it harder to ask for leave, but that doesn't mean it's not available.

PenguinMan · 09/09/2022 23:44

Asking what union you’re with is not asking a lot of details.
You’ll be one of thousands.

An ex teacher working a niche job in the NHS is much more outing.

It’s annoying you keep saying everyone’s out of touch. Have you just learnt that phrase today or something?

No, it’s just an accurate way to sum up your posts. You don’t have a clue.

Thatwaslulu · 09/09/2022 23:48

It will be a bank holiday. Schools will close. It will be announced tomorrow.

PenguinMan · 09/09/2022 23:53

No, it’s just an accurate way to sum up your posts. You don’t have a clue.

Lol ok.

Well you do get time off for childcare in emergency circumstances.
If you’re unsure then speak to your union.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 09/09/2022 23:53

Sorry that the entire world cannot drop to your demands. At once, if not sooner.

I didn’t think it could be on a weekend.

Diana’s was on a Saturday - 6 September 1997, although that wasn’t a state funeral.

It's covid all over again.

OMD the hysteria on here is crazy 🙄

People complained about the 'hysteria' on here about so many things; brexit, covid, the war on Ukraine (before most people realised a war was even imminent); the energy crisis. And every fucking time the people worrying and pointing out how bad things could be were proven right.

FrecklesMalone · 10/09/2022 00:03

It's annoying as for those of us who are self employed it means a day of no income which at the moment is tough

Edinburgh Evening News are unofficially reporting (which means they’ve probably copied it off Karen on Facebook), that she’ll be brought to Edinburgh on Sunday, procession from Holyrood to st Giles cathedral on Monday, and laid at rest there until Tuesday evening when she’ll be flown to London…….so if those timescales are correct a Saturday funeral seems unlikely when you see what happens once she gets to London.

Exactly - the timetable given in ‘Operation London Bridge/Unicorn’ states 4 days Lying in State starting the day after arrival in London (arrive at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, move to Westminster Hall for that to start on the Wednesday and finish on evening of the Saturday) If having 4 days, they can’t have the funeral on the Saturday. King Charles also visits the 4 nations of the U.K. during those days

lightisnotwhite · 10/09/2022 04:24

What!!! It is the exact opposite ! It’s been noted by loads of posters.

There were so many “prepping for Brexit” threads on here but zilch happened when we left. Shops were fine.
Covid was panic from start to finish. Again supermarkets stayed open and the riots and civil unrest didn’t happen.
The Ukraine war was meant to spread throughout Europe but hasn’t
I guess we are still awaiting the energy crisis but again currently most people and businesses are chugging on despite numerous threads last year saying otherwise.

Zebedee55 · 10/09/2022 04:47

The funeral is on the Monday, and it will be a public holiday.

@Pumperthepumper

sorry she didn’t consult with you directly before she died. You know she would never want to inconvenience you.

I've been on MN for ten years now, when all this was fields before the Mouldies and that is the maddest thing ever ever read.
