I would really hope that if schools close, there will be provision for children of NHS staff etc just like there was in lockdown.

Would you like them to remain open 365 days a year for you? How do you manage for other bank holidays?

Toddlerteaplease · 09/09/2022 21:46

We have such a huge backlog of children waiting for surgery, that we can't afford to cancel operations. So I really hope they don't.

Figroll368 · 09/09/2022 21:48

Sainsburys- all days available for food delivery except Monday 19th so guess it’s then?

PenguinMan · 09/09/2022 21:48

Why are humans so unable to cope. It's ONE day, surely you can sort child care, doggy day care - whatever you need.- sort it - it's only one day.

I agree!

Surely these people have kids who have sick days or their car breaks down or they get a D&V illness.

People are acting like the they can’t cope with a slight change of plans which is absolutely ridiculous!

I’m sure if schools are closed for the day and you have young children then your employer will understand that it’s exceptional circumstances if you can’t go into work that day because you have no childcare.

Well make sure you don’t come into hospital in that case, as we’ll all be at home then looking after our kids.

WTF, where do you work?

JemimaPiddleDick · 09/09/2022 21:49

Whyever not?
Fair enough the vicars are all busy in a Sunday but Lady Di’s was a Saturday.
Save the cost of giving everyone a day off.

PenguinMan · 09/09/2022 21:50

Or more likely everyone thinks it’s then so have gone silly and panicked brought incase they need something on that day.

FFS, that's what I want to do, but it is a bit fricking tricky to sort something I don't know needs sorting.

Ah yes didn’t think of that

But schools are never open on bank holidays, so what do parents do then?

I don’t get all of this hysteria.

Are you sure? Have you checked? Will you be providing child care if employers don't understand? That's very kind of you @PenguinMan can you let us all know your contact details ASAP? We'll also need details of your DBS checks. Thanks!

Do you have any idea how tight things are for businesses at the moment, how having no staff for a day will affect them. When will all this work get done?

FloorWipes · 09/09/2022 21:53

It’s going to be on Monday 19th for sure.

Ffs, bank holidays are planned in advance! People can’t magic up childcare with seven days notice! I don’t get this total lack of critical thinking!

They plan for them all year. As do I.

If it is holiday who is paying the wages, who will do the work that needs doing. Plenty of people have time sensitive work.

Drunkencrow · 09/09/2022 21:55

Hearing Saturday 17th more likely now. Statement tomorrow.

Chocoholic900 · 09/09/2022 21:56

I think we all know it's going to be Monday 19th, her death was announced so late yesterday everything has been pushed forward 1 day so funeral won't be on the Sunday... what we aren't sure of is what this will mean for the day.. shops shut? schools shut?

LittleRen · 09/09/2022 21:58

I think it will be Saturday. Far less disruption and no need to give everyone a day off.

neveradullmoment99 · 09/09/2022 21:58

It is widely been reported that they thing it will be Monday 19th.

Calm down there’s no need to have aneurysm.

I’m sure there have been times when your child has been sick and you’ve had to either not go in or leave to pick them up like the rest of us.

Employers have to give you time off for childcare.

This does make sense but there is a set plan. She has to be lying in state for particular days.

Never thought people could be so vile and thoughtless. The threads on here are a real eye opener.

No they don’t. Where is it you work? Think hard now!
