A continuation from thread 2. This is a place to mourn HM Queen Elizabeth II with respect and compassion, and to share our thoughts and feelings. RIP Our Wonderful Queen.

Fuck knows why Harry took so long to get there

Well no, you're not privy to that information are you. There are lots of reasons he could be just 3 hours behind the others. 3 hours. You're trying to make it sound like he was a day late.

MynameisJune · 08/09/2022 20:15

There will never again in my lifetime be a Queens speech at Christmas. So many things now change, it’s crazy.

I also thought he was in Germany.

The shock does just not wearing off. It’ll be tomorrow before it starts to sink in.

Not in the spirit

I still feel slightly numb. It’s such a sad day.

It will take some getting used to ‘The King…’

Vapeyvapevape · 08/09/2022 20:18

We don't know why Harry arrived when he did, maybe he needed time to compose himself before setting off 🤷‍♀️

I wondered that.

I guess he was coming from a different place to anyone else so couldn't travel with them?

JubileeTissues · 08/09/2022 20:18

"I hate to say it but likely on purpose so he couldn’t make and or sell a story about her last words or something. The fact it was announced before he even got off the plane means no stories can be made about death bed words or whatever."

Give over. I don't know why I'm surprised that people are taking it upon themselves to make up stories like this (ironic, considering the post).

I bawled when they announced it. Pizza guy had to give me a hug.

My eyes filled, too. Unexpectedly, as it wasn’t exactly a surprise, as her death had been anticipated for some time. It was the end of an era, I think that’s the reason for the emotion.

It’s hard to imagine our country without her. Especially having a king now rather than a queen.

I was just saying the same.

So, so many things are different

I was wondering.. 🫣 she'd long gone by the time he rocked up.

We don't know the time The Queen died. William, Andrew, Edward and Sophie didn't get there until after 5pm.

So for all we know (yet) - to use your words- she probably was long gone by the time they rocked up.

baconbuttieswithsauce · 08/09/2022 20:20

So many people who are seeing this as an opportunity to slag off Harry and / or Meghan. Bloody disgraceful.
I'm a little sad because this really is the end of an era, and it's a significant historical event. But the queen was an elderly lady that I didn't know and had no particular feelings towards.
Harry just lost his gran.

Tierne · 08/09/2022 20:20

He was in London so I doubt it. More likely it's something to do with privileges having been removed and him having to arrange his own travel

mistermagpie · 08/09/2022 19:59

I've just watched the Ed Sheeran song that someone posted on the other thread, so much beautiful footage of the Queen, she was just lovely when she was young.

I've always had a soft spot for her, my grandmother used to joke that she was the queen because they were exactly the same age and had the same hair! She died herself in June and the Queens death has brought all that back. My grandmothers life was quietly significant, whilst the Queens was of worldwide importance, but ultimately they were both family women who lived long and meaningful lives. I will remember them both tonight.

@mistermagpie yes it's bringing back memories of my grannie as well. Herself and my grandad married the same year as the Queen and Prince Phillip and Charles and my mum were born around the same time however I can safely say that's where any similarities to their lives ended but my granny loved commenting on what the Queen was wearing and was always admiring her clothes so this is bringing memories of my childhood flooding back.

My eldest is only 25 but thinks if things go "as they should" they not likely to see another Queen.

Pestoisthebesto · 08/09/2022 20:21

Been following since the 1st thread, and I'm just sad it's ended this way, I'm not really a royalist, but it feels so strange, such a constant figure in our lives, I'd just finished bathing my DC when I found out, cbeebies was playing up so checked BBC one, and my 3yo got excited because we can celebrate again (remembering the jubilee) I just looked at her, explained she had died and then said but yes we can celebrate her, celebrate her life, and then starting crying, and then she danced and said come on my mommy celebrate 💗

Id be inclined to disagree, this was a family moment, not official, I highly doubt he would have been banned from travelling with them.

The poem sounds like it's been written by a child. Hopefully it has.
But that's the kind of thing our country will lap up over the next few weeks.
