AIBU?
Am I being unreasonable?

The coverage when Philip died was awful and I was trying to avoid it as much as possible. It's sad when someone died and of course it's newsworthy when a Queen dies but at the end of the day it was someone who was 96. There's no need to go over and over and over the exact same things a million times. It's tedious.
ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 08/09/2022 19:00
I loved the queen and am very very upset. But I don't want to see coverage on all channels as happened when Philip died. I want some choice.
At last a sensible comment
It's not that I can't find anything else to watch - I'm on holiday actually - but I'm thinking not everyone has Sky, Netflix etc. Of course I'll watch some but not all.
Someone told me to read a book and have some respect and stop whingeing. It's a question, not a whinge fgs!
Mumsnet, eh?!

Climate change? Do your bit and go off grid then, not on your phone (that uses immense resources to manufacture) on Mumsnet, in a house that uses I presume fossil fuel. Bye.
You first.
Why would I? Not me being a dickhead about climate change is it

Imagine an acquaintance saying that their mum or partner died and you saying: yeah but I want to watch something fun on telly. Do you hear how out of touch that sounds?
You're out of touch to think that's in any way comparable. Her death will not affect the daily lives of average citizens, other than having the TV taken over for the next however many weeks/months. I suspect that the vast majority on here did not know her personally and that the Royal Family will not be reading Mumsnet.

Well yeah. But that has nothing to do with the price of fish does it? Unless your’e a Royal no-one you know closely has died. You can watch whatever TV you want.
I don’t understand why the BBC think we can’t even listen to music. ALL their channels broadcasting the same dull coverage.
Nutcases are coming out already - people weeping on the TV

Do you imagine that AIBU is read primarily by the queen's children and (late) partner?

No,just getting all cap doffing about a family who have a vast fortune spent on them when we have more people going to foodbanks than ever. A family whose whole purpose is to exalt their interests and supposed superiority over the rest of us at our expense and who probably wouldn't give a damn about anything that happened to any of us.

Show some respect - it’s just been announced
watch something else. There will be coverage - yes we know she has passed but the coverage will commemorate her life and reign - and why not.
I'm not watching anything. I'm on holiday. Just been out for dinner and off to an open mic night. Others might be watching TV and want variation and may not have Netflix or satellite. Hence my question which is not disrespectful.
Fruitbatdancer · 08/09/2022 19:28
I’m afraid there’s around 12 days of programmes already planned. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_London_Bridge
go to Netflix, or roll with it!

Me too but only because my autistic son won't understand why his programs aren't on 😩
Sympathies. I hope that he won't be too distressed about it. I know how hard it can be to explain things like that.
Yeah, hope he's ok. My grandad has dementia and he struggled with the change in programming when Phillip died. He had about as much chance of understanding how to use a streaming service as he did of going to the moon.

Which was rather my point, not that I can't find anything to watch tonight.

Agree OP. There have been so many (too many) programs about her this year anyway, for the Jubilee. Do people really want to watch the same stuff all over again?
Of course, there will be reports and some special programming but it doesn't have to take up the whole schedule.
