AIBU?

To hope that not every TV channel is wall to wall coverage of the queen's death?

I loved the queen and am very very upset. But I don't want to see coverage on all channels as happened when Philip died. I want some choice.

OP posts:

Am I being unreasonable?

Most people don't watch live tv these days. Watch catch up or Netflix etc.

iPlayer? There’s a choice for you.

Skinnermarink · 08/09/2022 19:02

Prime and Netflix?

I am hoping Kerrang! still broadcasts as normal.

EscapeTheCastle · 08/09/2022 19:02

Oh dear. You are silly.

Trebonay · 08/09/2022 19:02

Yanbu, if you have Netflix etc I would use that though as it will be.

GrinGrin

Sorry

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 08/09/2022 19:02

Sorry to disappoint but it will be a lot more coverage than when the Duke of Edinburgh died.

QuebecBagnet · 08/09/2022 19:02

Yabu. This is history whether you like it or not.

CoffeeWithCheese · 08/09/2022 19:02

Oh it's going to be a million times worse.

CaptainMyCaptain · 08/09/2022 19:02

What do you expect? It's the end of an era. A historic moment.

Cherrysherbet · 08/09/2022 19:03

Tough. Read a book.

🤣

AnneBoIeyn · 08/09/2022 19:03

You have choice - watch a streaming service or don't watch TV at all.

I'm absolutely not a monarchist and I think the monarchy should end with her, but this is massive in terms of historical significance. Of course it'll be everywhere for a while. And of course you don't have to watch any of it.

Underscore21 · 08/09/2022 19:04

Really? Her death has literally just been announced and you're whinging about the telly 🤷‍♀️
Have some respect fgs

Perfect.

mountainsunsets · 08/09/2022 19:04

Just watch Netlix then.

Soubriquet · 08/09/2022 19:04

Thank fuck for steaming tv

I wouldn’t be impressed having to watch everything queen based right now

Anothernamechangeplease · 08/09/2022 19:04

I'm a republican, but the woman who has been our head of state for the last 70 years has died, so I think it's reasonable to expect extensive coverage.

Just watch Netflix or something if you're not interested.

FourChimneys · 08/09/2022 19:04

Watching TV is optional. So optional that I don't own one.

minou123 · 08/09/2022 19:04

I'm afraid your hopes will be dashed and you are going to be disappointed.

Whether you liked her or not, every channel will have every type of documentary, remembrance, royal commentator, and discussion panel about her.

The coverage when Philip died was awful and I was trying to avoid it as much as possible. It's sad when someone died and of course it's newsworthy when a Queen dies but at the end of the day it was someone who was 96. There's no need to go over and over and over the exact same things a million times. It's tedious.

Propagandalf · 08/09/2022 19:05

The OP obviously wasn't around when Diana died in 1997.

Mamamia7962 · 08/09/2022 19:06

Find something else to do then. Are you that reliant on a TV for entertainment?

Suzi888 · 08/09/2022 19:06

It is sad news, historic news. But it does make me very depressed. So I’m watching a horror film
on netflix.
