AIBU?

To hope that not every TV channel is wall to wall coverage of the queen's death?

I loved the queen and am very very upset. But I don't want to see coverage on all channels as happened when Philip died. I want some choice.

No wonder the country is going to the dogs, no one has any respect or sense of occasion any more. Pathetic, really.

Thank fuck for steaming tv

I wouldn’t be impressed having to watch everything queen based right now

Steaming TV made me lol!
Yup even on mobile channels there's a banner about her death.
Netflix for me. No disrespect to her

Well it's gonna be, so deal with it I'm afraid!

Will they be cancelling sporting fixtures? Theatres closing?

No disrespect but we aren’t royalists in this house.

Her passing has no effect on us.

I think I would actually be more upset by David Attenborough

This is why I've just subscribed to Netflix.

You're being silly. Find something else to do besides watch tv.

Oh I'm so sorry she died. Of course there will be a lot of coverage. A lot of people are thinking and remembering her at the moment. I'm not in or from the UK but find it very disrespectful (and actually barbarian) if you believe that your own choice of entertainment should be showed on tv instead of the death of such a famous and long sitting queen!

And yet here you are creating a post about it of which there are many already.......

I'm in Ireland; completely dominating the news here as it should be. It is historic & it is worthy of marking, discussion & commentary.

Of course it won't have the same coverage as in the UK but I can't believe OP is expecting it not to be wall-to-wall!

This is indicative of all that is wrong with our country. Selfishness and lack of respect.

It'll be better than with Diana OP, we have so many more channels and streaming options now.

Pathetic, really.

Not half as pathetic as people going full boot licker over the an long outdated and classist system while ordinary people are struggling more than ever and Climate change is destroying the planet and taking countless lives.

iPlayer? There’s a choice for you.

Not if its something live. I was watching athletics on BBC 2 when the news broke. It was understandably interrupted for the announcement then went it didn't go back to the athletics I went to iplayer. There was a few minutes of the athletics then it ended and it has now been replaced by the same coverage as is on BBC 1 and 2. I'm now watching the athletics on YouTube.

Climate change? Do your bit and go off grid then, not on your phone (that uses immense resources to manufacture) on Mumsnet, in a house that uses I presume fossil fuel. Bye.

There are many streaming platforms, Netflix, Prime, Disney... Watch one of them. It's really not hard to figure out.

Imagine an acquaintance saying that their mum or partner died and you saying: yeah but I want to watch something fun on telly. Do you hear how out of touch that sounds?

Dunno, but The Archers on r4 didn't happen...

Channel 4 probably your best bet later on of the live channels though, judging off Prince Phillip and diana.

Something can be worthy of respect, discussion etc and still not be on every single channel, what does being on everything add when it's just going over the same things? Normal programming on some channels, news on others is not disrespectful.
Also a bit rude to snark at people re read a book etc, TV (and forums which were all currently on rather than mourning or whatever) have long been a source of entertainment, companionship, something to take the mind off things and there's nothing wrong with that 🤷‍♀️
